If Shai sent himself 1bn $KAS through an invalid transaction between Nov '21-May '22, there would be no way to know today. But he can sell those coins to you & when you go back up to trace where the balance came from at some point you will hit a wall bc 6 months of TX went "lost"

In $DERO balances are always in encrypted state. Accounts never broadcast naked balances to the network but only the encrypted form. All verifications can be done on encrypted data as well. As result following the money flow is simply impossible.
