We were extremely sad to learn of the passing of Professor Rashad Barsoum earlier this month. Prof Barsoum was pivotal in establishing the first PACES centre in Cairo 20 years ago and chaired the organising committee from 2001-09. Our condolences to his family and colleagues.

We were very sad to learn of the passing of Professor Joseph Muscat Baron. Prof Muscat Baron served the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) as a consultant physician and cardiologist for 37 years and was responsible for establishing PACES centres in Dubai and Sharjah.
