hey if someone says they’re not drinking, it’s none of your business as to why! doesn’t matter if they’re sober or are just not drinking for the evening! not your business! don’t ask! don’t try to pressure! thanks!
ALSO. nobody should be speculating/spreading rumors about what happened. i’ve seen so many rumors going around already and it’s just absolutely not helpful and not right
thinking about how i met guy fieri, shook his hand, he said i had a firm handshake and said i’m going places with it. i looked him in the eye and said, “like flavortown?”
well. i have big news. im loving to los angeles this summer to pursue my dream of being a music publicist. i was offered a great position at an amazing company and i can’t wait to begin this new chapter!!!!!
hey friends. my camera is completely shot. i’m selling some prints to help afford a new one, especially with gigs i’ve booked quickly coming up. spiel below, as well as my print shop. even if you’re not interested, a retweet goes a long way 🖤
yes!!! artists/idols are not your friends! even if someone is transparent on social media and in their career, that doesn’t mean that you truly KNOW them. no matter how accessible an artist may seem - take a step back and think before you speak
i’ve never been a full tour photographer, so there are some things i cannot speak on.
however.
calling pub photogs “musty” is not the take you think it is. they’re there, also trying to get shots. they have three songs and that’s it. they’re doing their best.
last week was my six year anniversary of shooting shows. today i found out that i’ll be able to pay next month’s rent solely from concert photography. this feels so surreal to me
that being said — if any photogs have any questions about etiquette when contacting a publicist, please reach out to me! i know when you’re starting off it can be a little intimidating and confusing and i’m here to help.
xoxo, your local music publicist by day, photog by night
had someone who hired me for a shoot ask me on a date, I said I wasn't interested, and they said "but I paid you to shoot my show!"
....my guy, this was a business transaction. you're not entitled to me or my time because you hired me for a shoot once.
respectfully—if a photographer i looked up to gave me unsolicited criticism and one of my shots was a “worse” version of one…i’d just delete the whole thing lol.
there’s a time and place for constructive criticism, this (and the wording) isn’t it.
@JakeChams
agree with jake, 1st shot amazing, 2nd shot good - my favorite part is his face, third shot emotional. Would scrap 4th but only because its a worse version of first. Keep it up
i miss shooting shows, so here's some black and whites of
@AnthonyGreen
next summer, i've only shot Circa twice but can't wait to hopefully shoot a few shows once things return to normal!
i feel like it would be hard for me to date someone who’s not in the music/entertainment industry bc it’s hard to explain the regular stress, chaos, unpredictability, dynamics, etc. to someone who’s not in it
I am all for people shooting their shot to get photo passes (hey, that's how I started out)! HOWEVER, pleeeeeease don't message publicists on their personal social media accounts asking for credentials.
if i had a nickel for every time i photographed
@AnthonyGreen
eating miscellaneous food on stage, i’d have three nickels. that’s not a lot but kinda funny it’s happened three times.
as someone who does some tour press, some friendly tips for newer photogs when reaching out for shows!
-we're very rarely able to approve if you're not affiliated with a publication. even if it's a small one, that helps!
-keep your emails concise!
-pls be patient
i was just able to pay the down payment on my new camera because of all the prints people bought. i’ll have it for my next gig and don’t have to cancel. holy shit. thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you.
some of y'all already know but I'm SO excited to say that I'll be working with Hoobastank to provide photo content for their special show in celebration of the 20th anniversary of 'The Reason' on Monday!! honored to be a part of the team for such a big night
first red carpet as a publicist tonight. a career achievement i’ve been looking forward to since i started interning at PR firms my freshman year of college. feeling very very excited 🥰
if you think following me will get you closer to any artists i have worked with, am working with, or will work with…you’re sorely mistaken. that is all.
i just photographed for LS Dunes (a band i’ve always wanted to work with) at riot fest (a festival i’ve always wanted to attend). these are some of my favorite photos i’ve ever taken.
(and yes, i got photos of the pizza and funnel cake)
a teenage girl in the front row told me it’s inspiring to see a woman in the photo pit at a show like this and said it makes her feel really empowered
excuse me while i go cry 🥹
now, if you’re a publication photographer not respecting the tour photographer and that they’re hired for this, change your attitude. if you’re a tour photographer not respecting the publication photographers, change your attitude. respect goes both ways.
can't believe this has to be said but PLEASE do not use my photos of artists for your insanely explicit/sexual/gross comments about them. it's gross, uncomfortable for me AND anyone else who may see it, and just messed up on so many levels.
if you’re a photographer and you’re spending your time being jealous of other photographers getting opportunities instead of being proud happy for them, then you need to check yourself.
not to be sappy but the response to my photos has been so insane?? this was a huge goal and opportunity for me and i’m glad that so many people are getting happiness out of the photos as well so thank you to everyone who’s said something nice about them 🖤🖤🖤
a 2023 goal i have is to do a mini tour as a photographer. like a week-long, west-coast thing. speaking it into existence. it’s tricky, but i’m going to make it happen before the end of the year.
I've had a ton of people follow me over the last few days, so going to re-introduce myself.
hi! I'm liz! I'm a concert photographer and full-time music publicist living and working in Los Angeles. I learned about music PR through emailing publicists for photo passes when I +
“that’s a nice camera! you know how to use it?” no i just carry a few thousand dollars worth of camera equipment that i have no idea how to use around with me, why would i know how to use it?
music photography is frustrating as hell sometimes. but damn, it’s worth it when you see how far you’ve come with each show. took these pics of
@matkearney
last night, and god, i’m in love with them.
I know I've been a publicist for two years but seeing my name listed as a press contact on a release still makes me all excited and proud, especially artists I've been a fan of for years. like, yes, that's me!!!!
another thing that makes my heart happy is seeing my photographer + journalist friends shoot/cover/interview my clients. it’s like my favorite crossover
another tip: please don't request shows seven months in advance. please. I'm begging you. earliest you should request is a month out for a big tour. 1-2 weeks out for most tours is more than sufficient time
i've had so many people not support me or my passion and tell me I won't be successful.
tomorrow, I shoot a 19,900+ capacity venue. i've only been photographing for 16 months. and i'm not even 18 yet.
