Aberfan ep is masterful. Don’t recommend watching if you’re feeling fragile. Sobbing. Now the world will remember the 144 lives taken by neglect; remember the 116 children who didn’t come home. But why did it take a TV show? Why isn’t Welsh history taught? Fe gofiwn.
I’ll say it again, it is dog shit journalism to focus on the Hartlepool by-election when we are electing the Parliaments of Scotland & Wales. Actual governments & First Ministers. Major political & policy outcomes rather than 1 single backbencher in a 650-strong Parliament.
@robharries83
I strongly disagree, Rob! It dispels the myth that your welsh has to be perfect in order to use it… especially on s4c. I love the way John speaks welsh because it’s how my friends and I speak the language. In addition, of course, to the fact that I really respect his opinion.
Working class welsh people are class. A woman just offered me a jumbo pack of dettol wipes after seeing me use the train toilet. “Have the whole pack love, merry Christmas” 🤣

and nobody thought to check whether quick bara brith in welsh is actually “cyflym bara brith” or not. Come on, try harder. Sure it was iawn blasus, though.

Mark Reckless on radio Wales now noting how different the early election results are in Wales when compared to England… and how the parties are being judged for their different responses to covid. *Almost* as if Wales & England are different and thus, merits its own Parliament.
Peth yw, beth sy well: llai o bobl yn defnyddio’r iaith, ond yn defnyddio hi’n berffaith; neu mwy o bobl yn defnyddio’r iaith o ddydd i ddydd ac yn tyfu mewn hyder, dysgu geirfa newydd a gwella’u iaith pob tro maent yn ei defnyddio?

If chat is running dry I always like to tell English people how I did German A-Level through the medium of Welsh... and Spanish A-Level... oh and we how we learnt French in a Category A Welsh-medium primary school. Love to see their reaction. 🤯🤯🤯

finale was perfect. So nice to see that other people also talk to city foxes and cry in bus stops. I also can’t stop telling people that Phoebe Waller-Bridge also wrote Killing Eve. What an absolute rock star.
My friend is a doctor at the Prince of Wales hospital in Bridgend where not only does she not have adequate PPE, but she and her colleagues have also been asked to source their own scrubs as the healthboard can’t get hold of any. How is this acceptable,
@vaughangething
?!
Friend: This is the highest scoring final since 1958.
Me: Ah, 1958, the last time wales were in the World Cup...
Friend: Seriously Lisa, you’re going to run out of friends in London if you make everything about wales.
My internal monologue: BUT THIS IS WHO I AM 🏴
I wanted to listen to coverage of the Welsh Government resignations. Nothing on BBC 5 live, BBC radio 4, and BBC Radio Wales. I had to turn to LBC. Remember when there were mass UK Government ministerial resignations, it was rolling news across every outlet...

Fair play, Carmarthen has really gone in hard on the festive decorations this year. 🎄✨

is the UK’s largest youth movement and its eisteddfod is Europe’s biggest youth festival. It is for young people, co-designed by young people. It has to be forward-looking by definition, and celebrates welsh identity & culture in an inclusive & modern way. Diolch byth 🏳️🌈🏴

At the end of my tether with meeting English-speaking people who can’t pronounce “Ceirios” yet the Japanese pronounce it perfectly straight away without batting an eyelid. Try a little harder and listen with your fucking ears! 🍒
Went on my first date since November 2019 last night (wow, tragic 🥴), and of course my old English teacher was sat next to us the whole time. 🥴 Love that late 20s & single in your hometown during a pandemic life. 🥴

Tomorrow is my last day at Heathrow after 4 years, 3 promotions, 2 PR Week awards, 1 historic HoC vote and 0 additional runways. I achieved a lot, learnt even more, met SO MANY interesting people, regularly rocked hi vis and did not stop laughing. But now it’s time to come home.
A German-speaking family are bitching about me on the train because I had the audacity to suggest that perhaps they aught to use the luggage racks rather than using 6 chairs for 3 people. Just sat here, understanding every word, knowing I’m right. 😬
The bay has such a weird aura. Like who is this for? If I didn’t work here I don’t understand why you would come down here to head to one of many chain restaurants in the wind.
Why the F are people & brands hashtagging “St Dwynwen’s Day”?! It’s a f-ing Celtic folk tale from the 5th century so I’m pretty certain it’s been exclusively told in Cymraeg for centuries. Stop being lazy and use

not returned to the Senedd is a huge loss to the quality of debate, welsh public life and the community she so tirelessly served?
In my experience, Leanne was generous, down to earth, passionate & a natural leader. Diolch, Leanne.
In a festival of 250k people in, 48 hours I have already bumped into 7 people I knew. All welsh, obviously. Then I went to buy a smoothie (got to get some vitamins in) and the couple had a slight Carmarthen accent, they knew my dad.

my clothing empire on vinted has been up and running for but 3 hours and I already have some angry huns in the DMs. Mate, I cannot walk to the post office. This empire runs at rural west wales pace.
a trans woman has bought a bundle from me on vinted and now we’re planning outfits for her first day out in public presenting as a woman & I’m giving makeup tips. She’s decided to wear the dress I wore when I took an iconic pic with Dafydd Iwan. Wholesome stuff; niche detail. 👗

Stop worrying about what everyone thinks or your body and get in the sea.
Ps. Everyone is too busy worrying about their own body to concern themselves with yours. 😎
Obv 👩🏼⚕️👨🏾⚕️👩🏼🚒👮🏻♂️deserve more pay. BUT
1. McDonald’s is a private company. Paying their staff more doesn’t impact public sector pay.
2. If you’re angry about public sector pay, don’t vote Tory.
3. The elite want you to go for McDonald’s workers because then you’re not coming for them.
Respectfully, take your marmalade sandwiches to a food bank, not a palace, and maybe give flowers to a a neighbour who might be lonely instead. I’m sure a floral tribute by the trolleys at Tesco Carmarthen is what she would have wanted. The wastefulness in the current climate…😵💫
It has taken me this long to realise that you *can't* have it all. You cannot have a thriving career, social life, time for physical health and mental health, family etc. unless you become one of these LinkedIn people who wakes up at 5am... and that is a red line for me.
As always, punch up not down. The pay of someone at Pret A Manger has no impact on that of junior doctor pay, which is entirely at the discretion of the uk government & nhs England. And remember “could earn more stacking shelves / pouring coffee / at McDonald’s” is a dog whistle.
I really wish the BMA hadn't created that Pret A Manger graphic. Obviously support the strikes and see the impact of over-work and under-pay on junior doctors in my life, but pitting workers against workers will never sit right with me. Stinks of classism.
On the train being questioned by mid wales farmers about who my family are and where they farm, another passenger overhears and says “I’m driving past your house to go home, do you want a lift?”. So here we are. Can only be the heart of wales line (truly) 💌

Full lockdown in wales now & scrap this household mixing business next week. I’ll dress up as Santa and s4c can broadcast it to the nation if you’re that obsessed with the 25th. Lockdown now (and pay people who can’t work) or regret it big time in 2 weeks. Lock it down.

And now Southgate has resigned, the people of wales (in 2024) will have to wait until the 1pm and 6pm news bulletins for a brief bulletin and limited / basic analysis on the dramatic events of their government responsible for health, education, housing, the economy etc.

I’m so sorry for Sarah Everard and for the pain and suffering of her loved ones.
I’m so sorry to everyone who has been triggered, experienced flashbacks and an unspoken grief.
I’m so sorry that we have to keep explaining why it wasn’t OUR fault for walking home alone at night.
Happy anniversary to me “coming home for a couple of weeks” whilst “this whole Covid things blows over” because I didn’t have a desk, a lounge or a garden in London. Lol.
I just said to the evri delivery driver “awww I’ve been missing you” (as in, they’ve tried to deliver this parcel 3 times and I’ve not been home, not that I miss HIM) and he replied “haha have you? Haha yeah I guess I haven’t seen you in a while either” DYING.

Whilst we’re on the subject, I highly recommend these courses:
All levels from total beginner to professional. Only £90 for the entire year with discounts available.
Best thing I did after getting in my head about my welsh, impacting my confidence. 🏴
There is nothing I hate more than being called a keyboard warrior. Here is my face. Here is my full name. I have a link to my LinkedIn in my bio. I have nothing to hide. It’s hardly a common name. If you knew me in person you’d know I’m like this 24/6 (Sundays are for chilling).
Devastating. It’s hard to find the words but gentleman is certainly one.
Wigs made life more fun and I know everyone is so proud of the person he grew up (!) to become.
Sending love & strength to the Wigley family, the Llandybie community & to all whose lives he touched. ♥️🖤
I don’t understand the “get back to the office” line. I’m healthier & happier - both proven to have positive economic impact; not to mention reduced use of NHS, reduced emissions and reduced strain on transport network.
As a manager, no problems to report with hybrid working.
God bless an elderly relative who saved me from a mob of other distant relatives questioning me as to why I’m unmarried without children with “she’s unconventional, this one, leave her be.” 😴
If you think striking is the “easy” option (ignoring the fact strikers sacrifice pay), just have a look at today’s front pages and tell me how it’s easy to be dragged, humiliated and de-humanised so publicly. Solidarity as always.
