Find myself flummoxed at how completely Iain Banks’s books - which were everywhere in the bookshops of my youth - seem to have vanished from view. Be great to think that folk could still wander into a bookshop & discover The Bridge or Espedair Street or this dark beauty…

I know how deeply @valmcdermid loves RRFC & how strong her ties are with the club (her dad scouted Baxter for the Rovers, for God’s sake). I also know her to be a person of honour and integrity. This is a brave and principled move by Val and a profoundly wrong move by the club.

I have this morning ended my lifelong support of @RaithRovers over their signing of the rapist David Goodwillie. I have cancelled next season’s shirt sponsorship over this disgusting and despicable move. This shatters any claim to be a community or family club. 1/2

Here’s a wee writing tip I’ve found useful. Take a novel you admire, open a doc & type the 1st line & last line of every chapter. Ponder them. You get a good idea of the range of ways to open & close a scene/chapter, & also how the end often loops back to link w the start…
