Last night me and my teammates lifted the Scottish Championship.
Here’s a piece on life, football and what it takes to become a champ.

As a cricket fan, and having been to a few live baseball games, I can honestly say their throwing arms are on a completely different level. Outrageously so when seen live actually.

“Speaking of painting, would we judge Rembrandt, Vermeer or Van Gogh on the volume of their work, or on their masterful brushstrokes? Sport is so much more than data, it’s a comedy, a tragedy, a unique spectacle.”

Thanks for representing our town immaculately on the global stage. Retired by the establishment you served so well, that’s life folks. Long live the Burnley Express.🌹✊🏻

No question that the fielding in cricket is of an incredible standard and there are plenty of specialist fielders with good arms, but having watched baseball it seems as though having an exceptional arm in the outfield is a pre requisite.
Thanks to
@scotonsunday
for featuring my
@NutmegMagazine
piece in today’s issue.
I’ve not managed to get hold of a copy in deepest darkest East Lancs but it’s a great buzz nonetheless.
Photo of Clarets walking out at Pittodrie is a touch ✊🏻🌹

Currently on a Scotrail monstrosity, that’s one vastly overcrowded, two a contemporary of Stevenson’s Rocket (half as fast) and three resembles a blast furness. Our public services are at an all time shambolic low, second rate doesn’t cut it. 👎🏻
Thanks to my good friends at
@NutmegMagazine
for giving me the opportunity to write another article for their classy publication.
Check out issue [32] for my thoughts on the Scottish game and why we should celebrate it more.

It's almost 10 years since
@LiamGrimshaw12
packed his bags and headed for Scotland. Fresh from clinching the Championship title with
@dundeeunitedfc
he explains why there's much more to love about our football than we sometimes realise.
Finally made the pilgrimage to a place I’ve loved from afar since I was a kid. Sevilla. A tribute.
As always thanks for taking the time to read my pieces, it’s very much appreciated. 💚🤍

Although not how I’d usually be spending my September weekends, a recent trip to Cadiz proved the perfect tonic to a stressful few weeks.

The uk’s breakdown in law and order is a damning reflection on what we’ve become as a country. Corruption and a sneering sense of apathy towards the people from those in charge has seen a break down in almost all of our public services. The chickens are coming home to roost. 🐓
We’ve put this one online so you can enjoy
@LiamGrimshaw12
’s words too, then maybe think on about treating yourself to a copy of Issue 32.
And then maybe read them again in beautiful print…
Following in the footsteps of some of crickets greatest entertainers. Thinking of organising a canal barge on the Leeds Liverpool for debut. Not quite

landing in the copter but it’ll do for us locals.
Well done

proud of you pal 🌹 🏏
An alternative view on Jimmy Anderson’s fantastic career and what it means to a town in a small corner of East Lancashire. From Burnley to the world. 🌹

This is a brilliant initiative from some fantastic people. Leaving professional football at any age is a tough ask for anyone, let alone young lads with aspirations of making a career in the game.
MUFC still has working class values at it’s core ✊🏻🌹
United have launched an Alumni programme to support their vast amount of former academy players.
It's taken two years of background work. Over 200 former players will remain actively engaged with the academy and receive formal access help and advice

Serious bit of mapping. Many of these stations are unfortunately now defunct. A quick bit of research tells me Padiham’s passenger line closed in 1957 but trains to the Power Station where my grandad and many of his pals grafted didn’t shut till much later. 🚂🌹
Happy birthday to the great man! My grandad took his wicket in the 1958 Worsley Cup Final between

Perhaps it’s summat to do with absolutely disgusting leadership that we’ve been force to endure for the last 14 years? Our public services and standard of living are appalling on almost every level. Also what has the current incumbent done regarding the immigration you speak of?

A game with roots in British India. Before Davis, Hendry and O’Sullivan came officers of the British Raj perfecting their craft in the hill stations of the Western Ghats.

Cried when this man left Turf! Simpler times when Bob Lord wing resembled River Calder, fixture board was manually replaced weekly and pitch invasions were a common theme. Bring back the bad good old days 😎💜
Spent the day explaining our wonderful game to a group of touring golfers from Alabama. If you’re a cricket fan then an afternoon at The Ship Inn, Elie, is a must.

England have had relatively easy paths last few comps pal. Folk wetting themselves over our previous decent tournaments would be well served to look at the opposition we actually beat 😞

Thanks to everyone who has taken time out of their day to read my piece about the incredibly short break between National Hunt seasons ( 2 days ) and what it means for those in the saddle. 🏇🏻
Thanks to everyone who read and shared my post yesterday. It’s very much appreciated, as is any feedback. 💜
Here is a follow up piece that I wrote last year, but fits in nicely with this weeks events.

Classy response pal, lineker and shearer both had their chance for England and won zero. Kane is world class and proven in the modern day monstrosity that is England’s first division, he’s also England’s top scorer of all time. Hard to knock him ✊🏻
@TurfCastPodcast
Course it’s a rivalry, anytime we play a team from the other side of Pennines there’s added needle, couple this with the fact we beat them at Wembley it’s hardly a surprise they don’t like us. Not many do to be fair 😎

Nice one patrick. Thanks for the support this season mate. That would be interesting, something to think about for sure. Take care mate and see you next season ✊🏻
@ThatBoiRico
As much as I love Glasgow I can’t help but think you’re viewing this through rose tinted specs pal. Especially given Glasgow/Scotland’s own struggles with rampant sectarianism.
Enjoyed writing this piece for the good folk

It brought back some cracking memories. Rioting away fans, bus drivers with diarrhoea and a certain game winning goal. Issue 33 is sure to be packed with interesting articles on the game we love, pre order below. ✊🏻

Still got to get the job done pal. Plenty of money being chucked at teams, doesn’t guarantee a thing. Airdrie have been brilliant. With regards to the play offs, as an ex motherwell man my lips are sealed 😎
Sickening how we’ve allowed this tripe to take center stage, so much so that it’s completely devoured county cricket and it now takes pride of place over an ENG/AUS one day series. 😴
ECB have drawn up plans to boost top salaries in the Hundred to 300k post private investment (from 125k) and could lobby Home Office to allow one more overseas player per team

Met him at Newmarket a couple of years ago. Great bloke. Gave me the time of day and bay bridge to follow for the season who went on to win an ascot group 1. Fuck the bitterness and sarcasm he’s just a bloke trying to make his way like you and me 😎✊🏻
@John_Arab
Ye agree pal, I meant apathy from politicians towards the people but you are right. As a country we’ve become politically disengaged and no one is held to account 👎🏻
@_LauraBrannan
Never met one of my fellow countrymen or women who want Scotland to win at a major comp, by the same token never been to a pub and seen England fans don Germany shirts because they were playing Scotland, on the other hand however 😁🤣
I’ve become a bit disenchanted with the county scene this season, that being said it’s always a pleasure to see us get the job done down in the smoke. 🌹☝🏻
LANCASHIRE WIN!!! 🌹🌹🌹
What a performance from the boys as Williams wraps it up as Clark lofts high to Bohannon!
We win by 123 runs! 🤯

Always struck by the humility of most jockeys when interviewed, very polite, appreciative of the opportunities afford to them and more often than not direct any praise towards the horse rather than themselves.
Well done

It’s nearly ten years since I was at Carrington but what is the obsession with building a new training facility? It’s got everything you need to thrive as a professional footballer. World class pitches (both indoor/outdoor), swimming pools, gyms, canteens etc 😴
@TurfCastPodcast
@claretcrumpet
Proper Burnley know the score, likewise anyone with half an ounce of idea regarding football. Should have played this season, would have made a massive difference. Will be sorely missed but remembered always ✊🏻

Parking spots for the captain, lady captain etc. Golf’s elitist nature smacks you in the face before you’ve even have chance to tee up your new top-flites
As a young Lancastrian racing enthusiast it was always a joy watching Eric’s small string hit form during the summer. Red Baron, Blithe Spirit, Maid in India and Ridge Ranger were personal favourites but Reverence did it on the biggest stage. 🌹
