I was able to ask the Chief about drone use at protests, and how their “commitment to transparency” relates to lawsuit over CVPD hiding drone footage. The chief said they’re appealing the courts ruling, and that they wouldn’t use drones for a protest, but would for a “riot.”

It’s incredible that @SanDiegoPD released video within hours of incident as they argue officer did nothing wrong, but in most cases it takes months if ever, or lawsuit, to get video. Police videos should ALWAYS be public. Who pays for them? Taxpayers!
