After working on The Ellen DeGeneres Show for nearly a year, one former employee told me they took medical leave for one month to check into a mental health facility for a suicide attempt. But the week they returned to work, they were told their position was being eliminated.
“I feel angry about the way I was treated, and I am always going to stand up for Black, Indigenous, Latino, and Asian people, regardless if they’re around,” the former Ellen employee told me. “I can’t not say anything. I’m not going to stop talking.”
“Ellen Show” employees say they’re losing advertisers, celebrity bookings, and ratings. “I wouldn’t set up anyone on her show right now to do anything that could possibly cause them more negative headlines,” one Hollywood publicist told me.
