Speed is directly proportional to autonomy. The more other teams (or the CEO) need to be involved in a decision the slower it’ll move. This isn’t just because of the logistical cost of involving more people, but also because anticipated bottlenecks diminish urgency and momentum.

@justindross The moral panic around seed oils isn't supported by the data. The problem might be as simple as excess calories. Portion sizes in the US are a lot larger, and the food is typically less satiating than in Europe.

American friends: there is not a free speech problem in the UK. The laws disallow inciting violence (also illegal in the US) and hate speech (for which there is broad support). There is a line and I think the UK walks it pretty reasonably.

When building products, should you be customer-led or vision-led? Optimal is both: talk to customers a lot to refine your mental model of the world, then form a bold, contrarian vision about the future you're working to create. Rinse and repeat as you go.

Today the Government extended the Future Fund to allow startups with non-UK parent companies, because they participated in overseas accelerators, to apply. We called for this in May, and I've been impressed by how openly @hmtreasury engaged on the issue.
