Diego Luna is everything US Soccer has never NEVER wanted.
An inner city kid, young parent, rebel...
In a program designed for UCLA and Yale kids... It's pretty clear why players like Reyna and Pulisic need to go to Europe to make any case...
Sad... Pathetic
#USMNT
I had this interview with Diego Luna after the recent U23 camp. In which he didn’t accumulate much minutes.
Lots is coming to light now as Head Coach Marko Mitrović has left Luna off the Olympic roster.
Here’s what he had to say: ⬇️⬇️

Christian Benteke 🇧🇪 suggests Kevin De Bruyne 🇧🇪 could make a move to MLS, with the Belgian star being told he would thrive at one of the LA 🇺🇸 teams as his contract with Manchester City 🏴 nears its end.
What a time to be back, Inter Miami is a mess, no refs, all time low public opinion of the league execs, danger of no USOC...
But it's business as usual for MLS.. Welcome back!
In 30 years watching US Soccer and now over 7 years covering US Soccer, I have NEVER heard of John Motta, who he is or what he does....
US Soccer has a lot, A LOT of dead meat laying around...
John Motta is on his 5th term as a US 🇺🇸Soccer Board member, which means he was there for the hiring of Berhalter twice.
In a respectful way, let him know how we feel about our current USMNT coach.
Only Don Garber (13) has more terms than John.
@USMNT_Thoughts
Well Miami PD messed up, and it's in the US, Conmebol is a mess but USSF should have helped from what I heard they wanted to, Conmebol didn't want to have anything to do with help from outside the family.
@Jadentheman1
Actually US soccer coaches Saw Pulisic and deemed him too small. They had no choice but to call him when it was clear he was at Dortmund. Hugo Perez spoke about this.
So besides the privilege our coaches are too stupid to notice the talent.
Ismail Elfath is a referee that in
@MLS
will check VAR for a corner kick or foul in midfield. At the biggest stage he gave a PK to Portugal that wasn’t a penalty here or in Jupiter. The worst call of the tournament from the area MLS has never grown in… refereeing.
Criticizing MLS for making mistakes is a good thing. Wishing MLS ill and believing that without it fans will flock to div 2/semi pro teams when Sports fans have NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB & top tier soccer leagues to watch is not only laughable it proves the person's utter stupidity.
I don’t find it at all shocking that all the GGG YES MEN have landed nice comfy jobs in MLS
Mikey Varas a coach who NEVER played professional soccer, w. no history with the USMNT and led US-20’s and USMNT to disappointing results, gets the job of a team spending MILLIONS

Sorry but when you over charge by up to FIVE times your average ticket cost, YES you owe the people who are coming something in return if the REASON you are overcharging is not showing up. Had it been regular ticket price then no no need to say anything.
@stuholden
Am shocked you guys played professional soccer. Look at Messi in France, they zoned marked him. 4 players around Messi. Look at ATL, NO ONE. Messi's talent makes it all look easy. But dear lord there is a clear difference. Try again.
Why I think Busio deserves more A squad minutes for the NT.
Because he is a central midfielder that can score.
Weston has that capacity but Adams and Musah don’t. Am not saying he should start but he can be a very good option off the bench.

Grant stated on his last podcast that he was feeling “under the weather” and that many journalists in Qatar had a sort of “cough”. Then again this is a part of the world notorious for killing journalists. This should be investigated.

He’s at 86 kilos which is normal. His body is just structured that way. His bones are broader I think he explained. Also I prefer a good soccer player over an athlete.
MLS needs to stop trying to sell tickets based on 1 player and get tickets sold because fans want to see the TEAM... Stars are great but it can't be the only reason people go.
66 players from
@MLS
will be playing for their national teams during the break. This would have been unheard of 10 years ago. 3 of them for World champion
@Argentina
1 of them is the best player in history.
@herculezg
@ESPNPlus
They won't rest players because Bielsa wants to finish first and Panama has a small chance of being first if they beat Bolivia by a huge margin...
@ManagerTactical
There have been many great players from Concacaf. Hugo Sanchez, Magico Gonzalez, Kasey Keller, Tim Howard, Alphonso Davies, Christian Pulisic. I think you gotta rethink this tweet honestly.
@Ziggys_Duck
Stringer had to die. Can’t be so up top and play both sides of the fence. The moment Stringer went to Prop Joe behind Avon’s back, he was finished. Joe had the ultimate card on Stringer.
I ask the question, if Pulisic was Brazilian and had scored 2 goals in 4 games and was a star of his national team, you think he'd be bench because of rotation?

Milan is set to bench Christian Pulisic for their UCL match against Newcastle on Tuesday.

My point exactly. While we can’t blame Sosa completely, yes he was blown away, then again million dollar players in LaLiga were blown away as well. But the tactical approach is so horrid. If there is even one.

Don’t shoot the messenger, but a source from Germany told me that the idea of Klopp and the USMNT “isn’t going to happen”, the only glimmer of hope he gave me was “a Messi type of deal” (IE MLS type percentage deal).
Sorry, don’t hate on me.
This is the problem a fanbase with little knowledge trapped by the idea of where the players play, not understanding that most nations that are above our level has players on those teams who are more important.
Bottomline. USMNT is just a mediocre team
What gets the fanbase (and most pundits) excited about this team is the individual player pool and where said players play.
But this team has not had one marquee win under Berhalter thus far. (Unless you want to count beating the worst generation of Mex players).
#usmnt
@tombogert
You have to be joking to make that assessment. “Impossible” situation, Leeds HAVE A SQUAD, maybe not a Champions League squad but there is enough talent to at least be mid table. He hadn’t won since November, he failed to address key issues of the team, end of story.
FIFA has allowed MLS to do this for 30 years. There are also transfer fees that include players under contract in Europe… that is called a trade… It’s done in all American sports. What’s the big deal?
One of the many bizarre MLS rules is the trading of players from club to club without the player's consent. While accepted in American sports, it isn't allowed overseas. FIFA's own bylaws don't allow transfers without player consent.
#InterMiamiCF
Ending this once and for all:
#USMNT
doesn’t have the history and today has no player better than:
Luis Suárez
Ronald Araújo
José María Giménez
Manuel Ugarte
Federico Valverde
Darwin Núñez
Rodrigo Bentancur
In their respective positions.
The J League is going to align with the European calendar. It has been in their plans for some time.
No bang, no gimmicks, no invented titles, no Leagues Cups. Just pure soccer.
@USMNTvsHaters
Zimmerman played a very good game the challenge happened because we were on the back peddle for so long, Walker did not want to take any chance and went in to get the ball. It was a close call. In the end Bale got the benefit of the doubt. It was a PK... But we have seen worse
@ManagerTactical
Pouncing on somebody who is basically told to say things like that, we should all be aware that they thrown in USMNT names because they want average Americans to care.
@ManagerTactical
That would mean that Argentine fed hid with MLS… He got injured against Ecuador. NT never reported a long term injury. They said “fatigued”
@cabezamartini
Hay periodistas muy buenos que laburan en serio. Luego hay un tremendo lote que solo piensan en ellos mismos… Bielsa tuvo TODA la razón hoy. Ganando tapa bocas.
@ManagerTactical
No he’s not. I live in Uruguay and watch Argentine sports channels. Argentines are very HIGH on Almada. Messi went out of his way to praise him. Please Tac I know you are not the biggest MLS fan but at least understand what you are talking about.
Right now, Pedro de La Vega is the biggest bomb signing of the season. Regardless of the circumstances. De La Vega got hurt BEFORE Seattle signed him and still went through on the deal.
A signing that in other parts of the world costs jobs.
Sounds like Pedro de La Vega is still dealing with some things in regard to his hamstring injury.
Brian Schmetzer called it his decision on whether the
#Sounders
Young DP, who was a partial participant in practice, would play.
@DandMussoccer
All domestic leagues if they could have the money would keep their talents. In Argentina we could care less who plays in Europe we want OUR teams to WIN... The NT is lovely and unifying but we perfer that Enzo Fernandez play at River than Chelsea...
@nwblackmon
At this point let’s allow the
@StateDept
to do it’s job. I also suspect foul play but let’s not confirm it is. Am sure steps will be taken so a American medical team can perform an autopsy.
@ManagerTactical
lol Tac… you know that answer… NO. The idea is hated… fans already hate the current format and hate not being a 20 team league. The fans have hated the league format for the last 10 years easily.
@usmntonly
@CBSSportsGolazo
Dempsey is what we have always looked for in an American soccer star. A rough and tough background. It showed in his game. To me still the GOAT for the US. HANDS DOWN.
Someone on X really tried to argue that MLS will overtake the Brazilian league one day…
These are the kids who don’t even play professionally. If we ever want to grow as a soccer nation we need to do just that…
Grow up.
@johnspacemuller
One thing is to defend Gregg Berhalter from at times unrealistic criticism from a content seeking or unknowledgeable fanbase. Another to say the team made “real” progress. The
#USMNT
got back on track, but progress? Very debatable.
