Florida basketball was fun again this season. Results were decent. 6th place in the SEC, first round exit. 6 losses when they led by 10 or more. Poor defensively. But process wise— HS and player evaluations, development— program miles ahead of last regime. Upward trend.

Absolutely bonkers and incredible baseball game ends with another trip to Omaha for Florida. Once they let the Gators- with the best coach in the country and a top 3 player in the country in the field- this was possible. But what a run.

Any conversations between the University of Miami and Manny Diaz this morning will be the first they’ve had in days, per multiple sources. All these folks confirm that Miami has negotiated with Cristobal while not even speaking to Diaz. Truly bizarre coaching search.

Florida stopped playing up-tempo up 9 or 10 points against a tired team playing 6 guys. When Florida pushed on offense, they scored with ease. Credit Obanor for a monster second half but the decision to slow the game down killed the Gators.

Napier can deflect on the OC issue all he wants. I expect Scott Stricklin will force his hand in the offseason. We just saw that Texas A&M and probably will in Gainesville.

Gators gave up 334 yards today, but 137 came on 2 plays, including an 85 yard pass that should have been a penalty on the WR. Another terrific performance by Austin Armstrong’s young defense.
