Didn’t have enough conference days this academic year, so had to leave #ASCO23 early. Got in at 1am, but made sure to test before seeing patients in clinic today. Will keep taking #COVID19 rapids and monitor for symptoms.

🕊My grandma passed last night. She meant the world to me. I saw the gift in end-of-life discussions I had with my ‘ohana. Feels like a sign today is our palliative care lecture. Loving this wholistic care approach. Feeling palliative rad onc may be my path.

#ASCO I still feel guilt for not wearing a mask. But I certainly will continue to mask in clinic and do good hand hygiene always. For the sake of our patients and my colleagues I will be testing regularly this week with rapid tests supplied by @StanfordHealth .

MASSIVE news in health disparities research. OMB updated federal standards to 1️⃣ race/ethnicity category adding 1) MENA & 2) Hispanic or Latino. Big changes ahead in analyzing health data. NHPI have struggled for decades to be recognized, looking forward to seeing the rollout.

My Native Hawaiian parents taught me to cherish our natural resources & respect our birthplace. Especially our oceans. As a fisherman, my dad tried to teach me his fishing practices. I can only hope I may pass down some of his knowledge one day.

My LAST wk of call of residency. Friday/Saturday in the hosp till 8pm new consults Came home to my Hawaiian granny calling saying sorry to bother me but Uncle just got dx w/ high risk prostate cancer, could I call him No matter how tired I am, it’s ALWAYS a privilege to be here
