If you’re working full time but also job hunting, 1) don’t jobhunt at your workplace. Rookie mistake. And dont use company’s email of course. 2) Spend time (~1hr each night) to research opportunities, network with people, update resume, apply for jobs. 1/3 #AskKejarKerjaya

Understand that mistakes are normal, even for experienced people. As long as (1) you learn from them, and (2) you don’t make the same mistakes over & over again, that’s OK! When you make mistakes, you learn what works and don’t work and you grow from it. 1/3 #AskKejarKerjaya

Find a job where you either: 1) EARN a lot of money, or 2) LEARN a lot of new skills If you are lucky enough to get both - that’s great! If you have neither of them, try to find something else. But if you’re looking for comfort and stability, you can stay, that’s OK too.

Resume sila pakai normal font (Calibri, Arial, TNR, etc) and size between 10-12pt (for main content, nama kt atas can be 14-16pt). People usually skim through resume quickly (10secs or less) so make it easy to read. Too small nanti susah. And 2 pages is fine. #AskKejarKerjaya

This! Jobsearching is essentially sales & marketing. We all have a unique set of skills & strengths. How do we sell our skills to potential employers? Do we know who our target market is (those who will value what we have), or are we just selling to the masses? Be strategic!

Mmg rasa ralat untuk dedahkan gaji. Tapi kene pandai nego gaji mcm u guys menjual servis. Dekat situ boleh justify level of skill = harga skill tu. Jangan cari kerja dgn mindset kau nak jadi pekerja. Create mindset cari kerna sebenarnya kau tgh menjual servis pd company.

When recruiters ask for a CV/resume, don’t give them a long one (5+ pages) with ALL your career on it (unless you’re an academic). Your resume (for jobs, 1-2 pages) should contain the relevant info needed that showcase your skills for the job that you want to apply for. 1/2

Making mistakes at work is normal, especially as a fresh graduate. Learn from the mistake and do better next time. We all start from zero, and mistakes help us learn how to do things the right way. #KejarKerjayaTips

Always, always ask for the offer letter in writing. That includes salary, summary of benefits, work hours/arrangement, JD, etc. If it’s not up to expectations, decline politely and say that you’ve decided to go ahead with a different opportunity. #AskKejarKerjaya

Fresh graduates = those who have just recently graduated. Kalau dah ada experience after university, be it part-time, contract, full/time etc, usually not considered ‘fresh graduates’. You may still qualify to apply for entry level roles if you haven’t had full time roles yet.

Wow okay this might be a pretty long thread. Let’s break it down shall we? 1) What is your definition of toxic? This can vary based on individuals, as everyone has their own threshold on what they handle (which is understandable and totally OK!) 1/n #AskKejarKerjaya

3) Obv never tell your colleagues that you’re thinking of quitting. Can be bad if it leaks out. 4) As much as possible, schedule interviews after office hours (or take time off/annual leaves) 5) Be aware of pull/push factors, especially if you’re happy where you are at.

Typically companies will give you 2-3 working days to respond to an offer letter. You can ask for a little more time (additional day or two) if you’re waiting to hear back (but they may say no as they have their own internal processes too). 1/2

@KejarKerjaya How long does the HR usually give time for us to review and return the offer letter? And is it okay to ask the other recruiter how long the interview process/result will take so that I could decide whether to accept or reject the first offer.

When you are first starting out in your career, people say you shouldn’t be picky and just take whatever the company is offering you. After all, experiences matters most. What do you think? Should fresh graduates be picky, or just take whatever life gives them?

Job hopping is not a bad thing if you do it wisely. Don’t change jobs too often (after only 1-3 months) for the sake of a higher salary. But also don’t feel guilty about changing jobs for a better opportunity if it comes. A job is a two way street - you need a job that pays

The best time to find a better job with a higher salary is when you are happy at your current job, with little to no push factors forcing you to leave the company. It would all depend on how much 'pull' can the new job bring to you to get you to want to leave your current job.

Think carefully before you accept a counter offer from your current company. 1) kalau you accept semata2 sebab gaji dia bagi lagi tinggi, they already know that you have one foot out of the door already so loyalty dah takde kat situ. 2) It’s also unfair to your new company if

Tak ‘perlu’ tapi boleh je. Kadang2 apply on job platforms (MyFutureJobs, Jobstreet, etc), sangat senang untuk di-overlook sebab ramai applicants. So doing a little extra (email, etc) is one way to help stand out a little and show a little effort. #AskKejarKerjaya
