Many Turkish citizens are blinded with nationalism that they have no idea what prejudice is. To them any of the following is racism: -saying you are not Turkish -saying you are Kurdish -speaking about Turkish governments role in state racism -speaking about citizens being racist

What happens when non-Kurds try to write Kurdish history: “One English traveller asked a peasant the name of a nearby village. The peasant answered “Nazanom” (Kurdish for “I don’t know”). The traveller dutifully recorded that he had passed the village of “Nazanom””. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m beginning to think KRG is becoming an annex of Turkiye. Are the Grey Wolves designated as a terror organisation in KRG? They hate the Kurds and have been the perpetrators of a lot of massacres aimed at Kurds. Disgusting

This is really unacceptable! A group of Turkmens, who always claim that Erbil belongs to them, pose for a photo in front of Machko teahouse with the racist Grey Wolf sign.

You can see the longer term effects of the earthquake already. Two friends lost relatives with chronic diseases after the earthquake. A man living in a tent had a heart attack. An elderly man staying in cars soon became bedridden and then passed away.

7 years today since #TahirElci was killed. He was a Kurdish human rights lawyer who not only said PKK should not be regarded as a terrorist organisation but also criticised the PKK. I went to a memorial organised by Amnesty, a British colleague who knew him personally cried

Every time a nationalist Turk tries to convince me there isn’t a “Kurdish problem” in Turkiye and that it is in our minds I find out another reason why Turkiye is a problematic country for Kurds (even Turks) to live in. Like the below I found out about yesterday 👇🏼

“more Turkish soldiers died from suicide than combat in 10 years… In the last 10 years, 818 Turkish soldiers were killed in clashes, while in the same period, the number of soldiers who committed suicide amounted to 934”[2].

7) Mustafa Kemal’s legacies have led to minimal presence of Armenians, Greeks, Christians, Assyrians, Jews, Yazidis etc in Turkiye. His nationalist ideologies created a divided polarised Turkiye. This is why many Kurds do not understand the blind worship of him. 5/5

4) The order for the Dersim genocide was given by Mustafa Kemal. His adopted daughter Sabiha Gökçen, a fighter pilot, bombarded Dersim during the operations. She received a medal for her “superior performance” during the genocide. 3/5

Every once in a while I think racist Turks might change, yesterday was one of those days. What waste of energy. As long as their leader, education system and media continues to promote greatness of Turkism not much will change.

22,000+ lives lost in 4 days. A lot of people who were quiet about injustices in Turkiye are speaking out since the earthquake. It really is true that you know who your friends are in bad times. Turkiye has hardly supported the SE part of the country or the Kurds and it shows.

Assyrians backing each other on social media is noticeable. Kurds can’t even get a RT group started on Twitter.

🧵Turkiye’s general election is planned in May. Erdogan’s tactics so far: 1) raise minimum wage 2) start grants for deprived students 3) blame Istanbul bombing in Decmbr on PKK/YPG - who have denied responsibility-use this as an excuse to attack NE Syria and appear a “hero” 1/3

My friend is teaching his 2 year old son Kurdish, speaking only at the moment. He attends nursery & can be cheeky. One day he scribbles jibberish on a wall at nursery. An older child: “What are you doing?” Him:“writing” Older child: “that’s not writing” Him: “it’s Kurdish” 😂

5) Dersim genocide of Alevi Kurds left legacies allowing future attacks against Alevis in Malatya, Maraş, Çorum, Sivas & Gazi/İstanbul. 6) Whilst aiming for a secular state the Turkish state’s treatment of orthodox Muslims and other minority religions were at times draconian 4/5

Touching video thanking countries which helped. I couldn’t help notice for bi/trilingual countries thank you was written in all spoken languages except for Iraq where Kurdish is also an official language. KRG helped a lot but Turkiye couldn’t even thank them in their language.
