They called for an ambulance. He got bullets instead. They never released the tapes. Don’t wait until they do this in your town. Nowhere is safe until we all are. I know plenty of ppl who visit here, no other killers.
POWERFUL: Our team has been able to survey some of the damage in Asheville. It’s truly horrific. We stumbled upon this moving moment. A flag found among the debris and muck being folded and cared for. It will be retired from use. More tonight:

Stevia is related to ragweed. If you have any serious allergies to anything related to it, especially oral allergy syndrome or other mast cell issues, beware. It’s also a vasodilator and banned in Europe

Best old timey neurosurgeon joke I heard-
(Man wore seersucker suits too)
“Pt called to complain about the bill being $5000 for a burr hole
Told ‘em it was $1 to drill the hole and $4999 to know when to stop”
@life_is_art___
This should be disqualifying from licensure, it’s not just biased it’s abusive and actively harmful to blame people for their disabilities that magic beans can’t fix
Well the good and bad news is that my home’s assessed value has sharply inflated ig I’m closer to the sea now 😅
And I say “us” as in the same county, and not that far southeast as the fish crow flies but I’m on what was terra firma before the waters rose way in the sound side

So many of them. Disabled people have been screaming about it. They’ve done some real harm to the most vulnerable people. To be clear, not directed at individuals as much as everyone top down. Beyond contempt for those in need. So very sorry to hear this.
@TheAngryOlogist
Wow they just admitted to a hostile work environment, they’re always willing to tell on themselves, the lack of self awareness and casual hostility, Oi!

Well, to be fair, I was nearly double blinded by one when they denied my expensive med for bilateral anterior uveitis, but I get what you mean there re research
@SirOstapBender
Now that I really live in a bog it all has to go in the fridge. Not like we get good fresh Ny bagels here, but then again those turn into rocks before they mold, but any breads generally. Sucks
@NeonTetraploid
Why do they come buzz me when I’m outside? Do they think I’m a fleur? Also I have lots of native flowers and no feeder and they’re here but I’m also out in a wild area they pass through

Right? And millions don’t have a doctor/insurance, good luck getting a rando to give specialized advice, and many are actually fearful of interacting with healthcare, especially when it comes to interfacing with someone who could potentially destabilize their health further
@BusinessInsider
@kelkord
Oh bs, don’t fall for it folks, other workers aren’t doing this, it’s a divisive class warfare tactic! All those jobs are worth the same regardless of where they’re done, your wages shouldn’t have stagnated/been stolen, and your housing shouldn’t have been commodified/undermined

Your father put my grandpa in his film “Where’s Papa”. He was a prop man, but he wanted a “grizzled looking” person to play the part, so said “Hey you!”, had him hop into wardrobe lol. There are some great pics of the wrap party with your Pop holding court, laughing. Bless
It’s called the graveyard of the Atlantic people, folks have been losing schooners here for centuries and now are like I want a land ship that I can’t easily bring to safe harbor actually
@Beachcat75
@lubnasziauddin
Seriously, this is likely safer infection control than when folks leave conspicuous amounts of hair out of bonnets/caps! Indeed there are whole hooded suits for joint spaces etc!
This spot was part of the mainland before glacial melting and sea rise after the ice age or whatever. I mean there’s sand, but also bedrock somewhere I reckon. Ppl have wells here too, not us. But on my tiny spec in the middle of the estuary vs the shifting sandbar shoals
@teatuahere
G-Grampa was an early sound engineer/director who worked On The Waterfront and had to invent a boom mic filter to do live sound on location for it (pioneering time in film) he was a consummate gentleman but did not have nice things to say about “Mumblin Marlon” (not bc of that)
@robreiner
Photos courtesy of Billy Kane’s family, IATSE Local 52. That’s my Grampa John “Bud” Gilliar, who worked on so many classics, just usually not on that side of the camera lol. He’s at the head of the table in stitches 💐❤️

Meanwhile people who have worked clinical roles or who do depend on them for life or death stuff everyday are reminded, every day, every med fill, especially lately. It wears on ya. Totally needs to be spoken about but it is bleak knowing how many people are fine with abysmal M&M
@rahulastrohl
Yup! And it’s not lost on me that these people warping HIPAA would love nothing more than to come between patients and their Drs regarding DNCs, and access those records, which *are protected* PHI
@DrJudyStone
@DGlaucomflecken
Literally, called masks a scarlet letter and told us to just wear them and everyone else to breathe on us like disabled people thunderdome
@BethDarnall
@PCORI
What a waste, and using the poorest to experiment on. They need access to meds. That’s the crux of it. Privilege affords a whole other tier of this segregated classist medical system. Of course do some CBT, make that affordable, but pain pts need meds ffs. Save that $. Enough!

Also right by some pretty important vasculature, long bones are essential for blood cell production as well, which this person may exsanguinate with this injury. Delaying care also affects healing, infection risk, countless complications for such a major emergent injury.
@CDCDirector
What are you doing to safeguard vulnerable people who need *SAFE* access to healthcare spaces?! This is a very pressing matter that directly speaks to why people are scared to have clinical encounters, nosocomial exposure! No infection control! It’s absurd!
@CartaMonir
Also to be fair I don’t want to see “proof”, not because I’m scared of anatomy, but because that would be a gross violation of someone’s privacy in an environment where you’re definitely not supposed to whip out cameras. Cameras might cause me concern.
@Theresa_Chapple
@tmprowell
I had disabilities including asthma from childhood. Didn’t know and wasn’t dxed until my 30s. After a bad flu really messed me up. After finally having meds for some of it, I’d never known how abnormal my obstructing was, it was minimized and neglected
@brian_goldstone
AT THIS POINT THE MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS ARE JUST AS DEPRAVED AND INDIFFERENT (and that’s not even touching on the conflicts of interest that are only getting worse!) yes it’s the insurance companies and speculative finance but also every cog who goes along with denying care
@ZackTahhan
What? You deserve it! That’s what it was for! So gracious of you though. I don’t think you’ll pay for a dinner again when you break your fast. Bless!
(It was the MTA and UTW that offered it up folks, not the agencies you’re tagging)
@BethDarnall
@PCORI
And it’s always low back pain. But this will be applied to everyone else who legit just needs everyone to stop leaving them to rot when CBT does not work. When they’re in severe pain and no amount of breathing or mindfulness works. It’s that simple. And this actually harms ppl
@Theresa_Chapple
@tmprowell
If I was gaslit that bad, even as a clinician at the time that these underlying conditions really started to get worse, I know it’s so much harder for others. I still can’t swing all the medical care that’s indicated to lower my risks. Truly iniquity behind the inequity
@RandomGiantsFan
@rn_critcare
I do want units to go to unwilling victims of this kind of moral rot. Plenty of people under social pressure to refuse blood products accept them when away from prying eyes, or variations of autotransfusion etc. There are innocents in all this who are under control of others❤️🩹
@MRheumy
It’s so sad when I can’t think of many besides affected friends in research and clinical practice. So I’m going to let you know that the NIH has funded exactly zero studies.

affects millions, who are beyond neglected. Most few and far between specialists are boutique
hold up so NYC, while never shutting the fuck up about its culture and its bodegas and the shit ass Knicks or whatever, is just throwing loosie garbage on the street?? What the hell
@plagueprose
Elevated tryptase is not the essential ddx for mcad, more like mastocytosis. Ikyk just wanna validate bc been there more or less. Def crying at bad Drs visits. Didn’t even bother getting that done bc of this bs. Responds to meds for it bc it’s real. So sorry
@denehy1
@UHC
Real talk, this is torture for that poor person. At what point do you all organize against those who have sold their souls and your profession out to be pencil pushers?! That can be lethal! I’d imagine a marrow emboli is less fiscally conservative for the insurance agency
@MRheumy
Most importantly, listen to patients. They’re the ones compiling the data that gets bottle necked, and are doing the R themselves. Or you may very well catch things others haven’t. Your interest in keeping current exceeds the bar unfortunately, so kudos for that. Sincerely, tysm

This makes it even wilder that I was given some with an oil painting kit as a kid. Don’t get me wrong. I am eternally, grateful that I was so supported and loved and encouraged in my pursuit of fine arts as a child, but yeah, just got a phantom whiff thinking about it.
