To everyone who has reached out to support me and made positive posts about the article, thank you. It has been a long journey thus far, and I appreciate the support. You are all amazing and define what unapologetic good still exists in the church and, at least for some of you,

Yesterday, I met with the independent third-party investigator for IHOPKC that has been hired by Tikkun. Thanks to the encouragement of Gracia ( @GTacoTacoTaco ), I felt confident in the investigator's impartiality and felt comfortable meeting with them. Their approach was

Time is not a judge. For survivors of abuse and/or assault, when they begin sharing their story, they end up hearing from people that they moved too slow. The SOL is passed, the only reason you would say anything today would be to extort money, etc. This is egregious and a

With the new email from IHOPKC being sent out, I find myself hurting. As a Christian organization, it can do better than distancing and word games.

I was taught growing up that Christians and the organizations around them would always answer the call towards true repentance and offer a God inspired helping hand. It was a couple of the things that separated Christians and their organizations from the rest. However, I have not

The NDA circulated online from IHOPKC is deeply concerning. As a software engineer with experience in negotiating NDAs, I find this agreement to be highly one-sided and unfair. I urge IHOPKC to revise the NDA to include clear responsibilities for both parties and to provide

I am heartbroken at this and am shocked that it has occurred. It is essential to remember that those who have been harmed should not be burdened with the expectation to move on or succumb to the destructive forces of bitterness. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. eloquently stated,

How should the abused deal with trauma? Go to a rally and pray it away. Poof! No need for wolves to be accountable for years of unchecked abuse. Lord help us. This is not it. #EstherCall #ihopkc #Morningstar #Gateway

@realprophetguy Yes, they have and the lawyer reached out. I decided at the time to not meet with them until, at least, the police investigation is finished.

Going public with my story is not about me, it is about calling out the evil and wrong that has happened against me through the church. It is only from this point that I can show other survivors they are not alone and reveal to the church that there is work still to be done on

Many churches are great with words but horrible with actions. This cancer of inaction only hurts the worldwide church. When actions do not match words it is just posturing and only exists to make peopleโ€™s ego feel better. I would point out that this is a harsh generalization and

If just raising a concern of abuse to the church is somehow valid and the right way of handling things without any follow up or noticeable change, then the standards of the church are sadly below that of the world.

@zhuangcorp @GTacoTacoTaco The meeting was scheduled for an hour, but I didn't feel pressured to adhere strictly to the timeline. I was able to delve into each topic as deeply (or as shallow) as I wanted.

A responsibility of all Christians is to call out evil and sin in their congregations. To say anything else is incongruent to a healthy church.

The church has focused too much on telling kids and teenagers what they should be thinking and doing. Although important, it is just as important to tell them what to expect and do when they do not think or act in those ways. These kinds of actions are inevitable and having the

I am against gossip like everyone else. It is not constructive and is no better than idle chatter. However, when people speak out the truth of a situation with the intent and direction of addressing the issue, finding solutions, and promoting understanding then it is no longer in

The hardest part thus far as a survivor of sexual abuse within the church is having to come to terms with the truth that sharing my story will come at a cost. To some I am a hero and to others I am a revengeful human being.

Itโ€™s disheartening how survivors of abuse demand so much (change, empathy, restitution, etc.) while perpetrators of abuse demand so little (see no evil, say no evil, hear no evil). It is somewhere in this dichotomy that the pressures put upon survivors can feel so overwhelming

I have always found it difficult to believe that the Lord would ever give a special mission to a few that is the calling of all. To say otherwise sounds far too much like a sales pitch.

@evalenasalon I believe my wording could have been better to avoid confusions - based on replies. And I apologize for that. In terms of your question, no I do not believe that. I believe the Lord was aware of the sin and saw it for what it was - evil. From there, He is able to bring judgement.

When a church or church organization believes it somehow knows better than the scrutiny of its members, then it is no better than any other institution that itself scrutinizes.

@evalenasalon I think the Lord can bring about judgement at any time. With this said, whether or not it is a part of His judgement when people reveal the sin - I am not sure. I believe it could be, and that is an interesting question.

@DannyM_CANADA I appreciate this a lot and I believe we are saying the same thing in two different ways. My position is that it cannot be true that the Lord would orchestrate the church to function in a way where evil is being hidden. Instead, as you say and I left out, the church can and would

Itโ€™s only in a church or church organization that is brave enough to platform survivors who are willing to fight for change that any physical resemblance of repentance can match any words on the subject.
