The other day me &
@AlbatrossTime
asked
@michaelsheen
if he would send us a voice note that we could sample on a song... and he did (!!) and here is what we made!
Thanks so much to Michael, we've had a fun couple of days!❤️
Check it out here (all free):
@michaelsheen
Hi, me and
@AlbatrossTime
(who is a real person and not an Albatross) were wondering if you could send us a voice note of you saying literally anything, for us to sample in a wee song 🥺 (again,
@AlbatrossTime
isnt really an albatross, they just love to lie)
Glasgow should get to renaming all their streets that are named after slave owners. It's insane that this hasn't already happened/that there hasn't been a big enough pressure from the public for the council to do something about it. Needs to change
A drawing of my granny by Alasdair Gray, taken from the book: A Life In Pictures. My favourite part is where she is described as "too socialist to be popular".
Almost as if the people willing to pay for a diagnoses almost always have something wrong, which is why they have paid to speed a diagnosis along in the first place????? Mental health in this country is broken, stop making people seeking a private diagnoses feel bad jesus
Hi guys, thanks for all the support about my tweets earlier! I've only deleted cause I wasn't really prepared for that many notifications, but thanks so much to everyone for the support ❤️
Not really announced "officially" yet but in the first 7 months of the year, I had 4 funding apps in and today got the last one back - I got 3/4!!! Not all for me, some for other artists, but some is for me, woooooooo!!
Solidarity to the women speaking out against abusers in the Glasgow music scene. As far as I’m aware I don’t know anyone involved personally, but I always stand with and believe the victims ❤️
Something I really like about my boss (as in the CEO, my super boss) is that she always introduces me to people as a musician/singer-songwriter and then goes "oh yes and she's also our marketing officer" 🥰 never had a boss validate my music to this degree and it's lovely
Illustrators/designers!! Please drop a link to your work 👇 client I'm working with looking to expand pool of freelancers. Specifically looking for graphic designers who are also illustrators ❤️❤️❤️❤️ please RT! X
I'm finally releasing new music :) my new single THAT BOY will be out on the 20 July ✨
This song was written about my experiences in an abusive relationship & the gaslighting techniques my ex used to justify his behaviour
Really proud of this song ⬇️ check out this sneak peak
Just read a tweet about someone wanting the Fringe to move to Glasgow cause it’s a better city/that’s where the personalities are - and as someone from neither place who has lived in both, Glasgow’s obsession with itself is honestly my least favourite attribute about the city.
Hi guys!
I help a lot of folk out with releases etc so I decided to put everyone in the same place!
Gonna launch properly in Sept, but for now you can follow on ig:
@almostneverrecords
not a super serious label, more just for fun and to showcase my wonderful pals! Thanks! x
Has anyone else's mental health just been an absolute disaster this year? Like, everything is fine, but the pandemic definitely collectively traumatised us all and now we're just... Back lol

This year has been such a rocky one in so many ways, and it has definitely done a number on my mental health. But I'm going into 2021 with a Masters degree, a new job, and a load of new music to release. Feeling very grateful 🌟😭
Has anyone else found that this year has done weird things to your energy levels? I used to work 60 hour weeks (between jobs and music) and now I find myself exhausted after going to the shop, no joke
You can especially thank my boyfriends mum who is being forced back to work by Sainsbury’s despite living with cancer of the immune system! Apparently because she hasn’t started chemo yet there’s a wee loop hole forcing her back to work 🙃 lovely stuff 🙃
Can confirm our gig was hot and everyone who attended is also v hot xoxoxoxox
Thank you so much everyone!! Was so mad to play to a packed out room and to hear people singing along!! Tysm

hey everyone, I'll be on BBC Radio 5 Live today in about an hour, taking part in a round table discussion about the effects of COVID-19 on the live gig economy. Tune in if you fancy it! xx
My mental health took a bit of a turn the other week, but finally feeling a lot better and coming out of it. Was great to have a day today to focus on freelance work, really feel like I actually achieved things. Now a band practice! Wooo!
🌟 Got funding for my music
🌟 Got a distinction for my masters
🌟 Got a real job in the arts
😍😍😍 An extra good thing is that my sim family is now on the 6th generation
to say "do great things, you'll get found" implies the economy/landscape is equal all. This is neo-liberal statement placing the blame on artists for not being "great" enough rather than examining the issues that cause indepdent artists to have less access to opportunities.
We get offered support slots for £50 a lot and we basically have to turn them down. My band has 5 people. If we do 3 rehearsals for a show - I am down £100 in spaces (last show required 2 rehearsals at Eiger = £60 / 1 at Chapel = £40). We can't afford to do supports anymore :(
‘In 1996, the average fee for a support band was £50 - and it still is … if you’re 25 you’ll earn more working in a supermarket than most musicians do. It’s a reflection of society. You’re either the superstar or you’re scraping away.’
I find it very, VERY bizarre that a lot of funding opportunities exclude the purchase of equipment from applications. This feels like it is automatically excluding lower-income musicians. So many people have the skills to create work but not enough money for high end equipment?
The support I've received this year from
@HelpMusiciansUK
,
@PRSFoundation
and
@WeAreTheMU
really has been paramount for me to continue making music this year, as well as just being able to pay rent and live. (1/2)
just watched a video of some bloke complaining about the statue in Bristol and about little britain being taken off iplayer as it will "fundamentally change society"... like.. yeah that's the point my dude
Hi everyone - can't remember if I told twitter but I work for
@YorkshireDance
now as their Marketing Officer! Currently compiling a list of opportunities that will be getting shared across their socials soon - if anyone on here runs threads of ops in the arts, pls get in touch ❤️
the streams for Enemy have shot up over night!! Thank you so much to everyone who has been listening and adding it to playlists. Halfway to 1k streams! That might not be a lot to some but it means a lot to me :)
Yesterday I made the conscious decision to stop worrying about music. Sometimes the business side of things can get you stuck in your own head and it can be quite depressing. I'm actively going to refocus myself on the creativity. Already feeling much better.
