Just watched Reservoir Dogs for the first time (!) Um… WHERE HAVE I BEEN?! It’s absolutely brilliant. Fizzy, fun script, energetic pace and structure, (disgustingly) violent but playful in parts. Just remind me to never to listen to Stuck in the Middle With You ever again.

So my bf suggested we watch The Northman today, which I knew nothing about. HOLY SHIT. How did Eggers do that?! It’s the most mythical, immersive, maddest film ever. Not a second wasted, an utter spectacle. I will recommend it to everyone I meet. But first I need to lie down.

I’ve said, on many occasions, that I don’t watch zombie films. And yet I just watched @edgarwright Shaun of the Dead for the first time ever and it was…BRILLIANT. I laughed, I cried, I pointed out streets I recognised. The script, the cast, the humour, the feeling. Perfect.

Took myself to a quiet coffee shop to finish ADULTS by @emjaneunsworth Not read a book as real, as close, or as open before. Got croissant flakes on the last page and then the barista had to tap me to tell me they were closing up. Worth the pre-order, worth the hardback.

Bait is triumphant - the perfect sleepy Sunday film. Transcendent, dream-like; a visual masterpiece of which subtle politics breathes through. Did not think I'd be attracted to a boatless, brooding fisherman, but the way that cigarette dangled from his mouth - the Cornish Camus!

My 71 y/o dad phoned me in distress because his electricity bill for a tiny 1 bed flat is £440?! There are many reasons for a pensioner’s voice to shake with fear and electricity should not be one of them. Didn’t think I could hate the Tories any more than I do, but here we are.
