Today was my last day at
@7tasnews
.
I don’t have enough characters to thank everyone but moving to Hobart was the best decision I made.
I’ll miss you all.
While I’m a little nervous about the future, I’m excited about what’s next.
Long live local news!
Some news from me:
After 4 years in Whyalla I’m leaving my role for Hobart to join the
@7tasnews
team
I won’t be lost to SA however, as I’ll be joining
@lou_hedger
as a presenter for
@SpencerGulfNN
I’ve had a great time but I’m excited about this opportunity
As a Journalist, today was a day you love to cover. But as a
#Whyalla
born person, there’s never been a more exciting day in my life. After years of hell, it’s finally good to see that it’s got a long term future
I’m no parent, but I am struggling to fathom what’s happened to those poor children and their families in Devonport today. Such a terrible and shocking tragedy, I can’t imagine what parents, teachers and first responders are feeling right now
To those who worked on
@SpencerGulfNN
Gee we did good work for 50 years……
Thanks for working together, and for giving me inspiration along the way.
Most importantly, thanks to all the viewers for watching
Tim Paine is on his way out to bat as his Ashes audition continues. He’s getting a round of applause from spectators as he strides to the crease

What makes 2024 so interesting is the fact a lot of clubs are vying for limited finals spots.
A wildcard weekend destroys that tension instantly.
The
@AFL
know the price of everything but the value of nothing.
Also without conferences, this is just two extra elimination finals.
AFL charging ahead with a serious look at wildcard weekend. An expanded AFLW season will eventually clear up what is now the pre-finals bye weekend. Clubs giving it stronger support. Keeps teams relevant later, more big games as the AFL pushes innovation
The closure of the Border Watch is reminder that if you’re in a regional area, buy the damn paper, watch the damn local TV news and listen to local radio. They disappear because people stop supporting it and once it’s gone, it’s gone 1/2
After nine years with SCA I’m finishing up with
@7tasnews
after the State Election.
I’ve loved it but it’s to get a little closer to home for now.

I’ve finally made it in Whyalla. A theatre production next year will have a parody of me as part of the show and the director has told the actor to watch the news because ‘he has a particular type of accent you need to get right’
If you make a mistake at work tomorrow, just remember no matter how bad an error it is, you weren’t the person who dropped the world’s number 4 batter.

BREAKING: The South Australian Government has confirmed Whyalla Steelworks owner GFG has secured refinancing for its Australian operations
@SpencerGulfNN
When I was 17 just before going to Uni I had doubts about being a Journo. On a trip to Adelaide I walked into a bookstore Bruce owned and he was there (I nearly fainted). Bruce signed this book for me, it spurred me on. Thank you for making a young boy so happy.

I’m a lover of sport and to be part of the coverage of the Tassie AFL team launch was a thrilling night of news.
@7tasnews
is a small team, but they do mighty things.
Long live local news!
Good Journalism is often confronting and that was
#4corners
tonight. Saxon Mullins is an incredibly brave human being. I hope in her speaking out, things change where change is needed.
Adelaide people offended by this should remember how they felt, when they next have an urge to bag Regional SA. If I had a dollar for every time an Adelaidedian told me Whyalla/Port Augusta/Port Pirie etc. was a 'dump' or 's***hole', I'd be a rich.

Football is popular because the rules are easy to understand, it’s relatively free flowing and Refs are in charge. VAR is killing all 3 of those
