Since 1928, there have only been 8 years when at least one team didn't have multiple NCAA champions at the D1 NCAA Championships!
Wrestling is a TEAM sport and you rely so much on a good workout partner! This picture epitomizes how important it is to push your teammates!
We’re the underdogs and we’re at this small school in a small town in Connecticut!!
We don’t care though, because we have each other and that’s all that matters!!
If you build it, they will come!!!
Sacred Heart University 17
American University 16
Our first 3 matches of the year!!
November 5th- Lehigh University
November 12th- Army West Point
November 18th- Iowa University
Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere!!
My brother, Mitch wrote this down when he was 12 years old! He went on to become a high school national champ and then an NCAA champ!!
Write down your goals!! Ink it, don’t just think it!!
The Big Ten Finals are going to be happening later today. I was never a Big Ten champ and it still hurts 17 years later. I was 6th, 3rd, 2nd and 2nd.
I keep this 2nd place medal in my desk at work to remind myself of that feeling and it motivates to work hard every day!!
We are starting a “Regional Training Center (RTC)” as soon as the college season is over!!!! The paperwork is being completed and the name has already been decided!!!
Men and Women can now train for their National, World and Olympic Dreams!!!
If you build it, they will come!!!
Officially taking over as the new President of the EIWA Conference!!
@MattAzevedo
(Drexel University) was the previous President and did a wonderful job!! A big thank you to Matt for being such a great leader!!
3 years ago today, I started at Sacred Heart University!! I’m thankful for all the hard work the student-athletes on the team do and excited to see what they can accomplish in the future!!
All I ask for is improvement!!
2017-2018 (2-10)
2018-2019 (5-7)
2019-2020 (8-6)
My Dad is getting inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Upstate NY Chapter!
In 23 years, he coached 9 NCAA Champs, 45 All-Americans, NYS coach of the Year, NCAA Coach of the Year and coached an NCAA Championship team!
This is his 9th Hall of Fame induction ceremony!
On top of being the coach at Sacred Heart University, I have just been elected to serve as the Chair of the NWCA Division 1 Leadership Group!!
I‘m also the current President of the EIWA Conference and the EIWA representative to the Division 1 NWCA Leadership Group!!
These are real and powerful words from my older brother Mitch! Good luck to my nephew l, Owen and my younger brother, Charlie would’ve been very proud of him, no matter what happens!
I will be in Albany tomorrow for the semi-finals and finals!
Yesterday, I turned 40. Today, I got my equipment to start my Master’s here at Sacred Heart University, in addition to coaching the team! I will be entering the Master of Arts: Sports Communication and Media-Sports Broadcasting program!
Lead by example for the wrestlers I coach!
Congratulations to my brother Mitch!! He will be joining my dad in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Upstate New York Chapter!! I look forward to the ceremony on Sunday, September 19th in Syracuse, New York!
So excited for the upcoming season!! Two years ago we were 2-10, last year 5-7 and this year 8-6!!
Over 50 student-athletes on the team and I can’t wait to see what they can accomplish!!
In 10 days, I will start the Doctor of Education Program!! Education is so important and I want to be a good example for the student-athletes that I coach!!
A little present, I’m giving my brother, Mitch for getting inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Upstate NY chapter!!
The ceremony is tomorrow in Syracuse, NY!!
I want to thank each and every student-athlete on the TEAM for their hard work and dedication this season!! We finished the season with a 8-6 record!! Last year, we were 5-7, two years ago 2-10.
We have 40 student-athletes on the TEAM returning and the future is very bright!!
Welcome to Sacred Heart University
@CJLaFragola
! CJ was a 3X NCAA Qualifier in wrestling for Brown University and will be playing football here at Sacred Heart this year!
I believe as a coach in providing an opportunity for anyone that is interested in our team coming out of high school!
My roommate in college
@KaplanBlake
was a walk-on and become a 3X NCAA qualifier and an All-American, with no other D1 school giving him an opportunity to do so!
My brother Charlie Clark- National Prep Champion (Blair Academy)!
My brother Mitch Clark- High School National Champion (Canton) and NCAA Champion (Ohio State)!
My Dad- Coached 1988 Division 3 NCAA Championship Team (St. Lawrence University)!
My book is written! 176 pages and after some edits, hopefully it will be published next month!
I started writing it on April 19th and I have a new appreciation for any author, as it is certainly a lot of work!
My brother, Mitch and my brother, Charlie!!
Mitch is wrestling the Buffalo Bills Head Coach, Sean McDermott at the High School Nationals en route to his championship in this photo!!
I was just selected as the EIWA representative for National Wrestling Coaches Association Leadership (NWCA) Group!!
This was voted on by the 17 EIWA coaches. I tell the student-athletes on my team that you have to earn respect from your teammates, your peers and your opponents.
1,117 people came to our match today against Lehigh! My parents (75 years old), my sister, Nicki Danforth and my nephew, John Danforth surprised me at the match!
My parents drove almost 6 hours to be there and it was also so nice to see so many others there supporting our team!
My dad’s book just got published and 1,000 copies arrived in the mail today!!
He turns 76 years old on Saturday and he put in a lot of work writing “JOURNEY TO DAYBREAK”
Tomorrow night we wrestle against Iowa at 6:30 PM in Albany, NY!!
Iowa is currently ranked 2nd in the country and we look forward to the Friday Night Lights!!
Tomorrow will be a year since my brother Charlie passed away. He was a kind, gentle soul. He was so loyal and there wasn’t a day that would go by where he wouldn’t call me at least 5 times. ❤️🙏😢
This weekend, he is getting inducted posthumously into the Canton HS Hall of Fame.
Every week for the semester we will give out gear!
Normally, we give out all the gear at once on October 10th but we decided we would do something unique this year and hand out a new item each week to enjoy “Gear Day” for that much longer!
This weekend, almost 50 wrestlers returned to SLU for a reunion! It was announced that my dad will be going into the St. Lawrence Hall of Fame! This is the 10th Hall of Fame that he will be inducted to!
46 All-Americans
9 NCAA Champs
10 Top 10 NCAA finishes
1988 NCAA Champs
Tonight we had the President’s Graduate Student Gala!!
I’m getting my Master’s at the same time as some of the student-athletes on my team and they’re nearly half my age. It’s important to lead by example anytime you’re in a position to do so!!
I’m so happy for
@SHU__Football
and they deserve all the success!!
They have a good culture and it’s great to see them rewarded for their hard work. I come in every day in the summer and they’re putting the work in!!
Congratulations to coach
@mark_nofri
and the entire staff!!
The end of my dad’s speech from the weekend, as he got inducted in the Hall of Fame at St. Lawrence University! He has been inducted in 10 different Hall of Fame ceremonies.
He hasn’t coached at SLU for 32 years but his wrestlers remain loyal to him for all that he did for them!
This updated tentative schedule is exciting! It’s exciting because it’s challenging, it has competitions near and far and it’s set-up like a college football or college lacrosse schedule!
Today would’ve been my brother, Charlie’s 37th birthday. On July 2nd, we will share memories, be together as one and we hope to see everyone there.
Charlie loved everyone and didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He was the most kind, caring and generous person I have ever known.
Every since HS, I would write down my goals on a rock to look at every day! I wanted to be a State Champ, All-American, D1 Head Coach, have an NCAA Qualifier and now the next rock/goal is to have an NCAA Champ!
-We return 6 EIWA Placers
-2 NCAA Qualifiers
-70 wrestlers next year
No matter what happens,
@SHU__Football

@mark_nofri

@NCAA_FCS
playoffs bid...
2 of my dad’s former wrestlers, Leland Rogers and Rick Spaulding came to visit him last night just to see “Coach”. Rick was an All-American and Leland won a NCAA Title in 1985 for my dad and is now the Head Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Syracuse University! This is why we coach!
Congratulations to my dad for getting inducted into his 10th Hall of Fame!!
He got inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005 and now his national championship team ‘88 will be getting inducted as well!!
@cburgpawrestle
You should never be ashamed of scoring points in wrestling and it’s a sport that you can’t run up the score in because we have the tech-fall to end the match. A pin is the goal but a tech-fall is great for your student-athletes to work on their technique in a match situation.
A big thank you to my parents and my brother, Mitch for coming to watch our match today!!
I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people!!
My mom’s brother, Uncle Charlie (64) and my Dad (75 in December) are rowing their kayaks from Clayton to Ogdensburg (47 miles) today on the St. Lawrence River!!
Thank you for the wonderful gear
@NEC_Wrestling
! I’m always amazed at how nice fellow coaches are and I appreciate unexpected gifts at unexpected times!
It looks like my nephew, Owen Clark is going to follow in my brother’s footsteps and be tough on top as well!!
Mitch is still the only wrestler in NCAA history to get a tech-fall in the 1st period of the NCAA Finals!!
It is important to let your administration know how much it means to you as a coach when they show up for a match. This past year, the President of Sacred Heart University, Senior Vice-President for Athletic and Student Affairs, Dean of Students, Executive Director of Athletics
We had Thai kids live with us growing up and now they’re traveling all the way from Thailand to be with our family this weekend!
My little brother Charlie is getting inducted posthumously into the Canton High School Hall of Fame on Saturday night.
A true friend is always loyal!
Adding another NJ State Finalist and welcome to Sacred Heart University, Mike Filieri!! We will have 18 student-athletes on our team from NJ next year and Mike becomes the 2nd NJ State Finalist in the last 3 months to commit!! Jersey Strong!!
If you build it, they will come!!
Practice in the wrestling room in 2 days!!
Thank you to all the wonderful leaders both past and present that have have made such a great impact on the program!!
