The day my Mom died, my sister's dog Eddie, who lived next door, moved in with Dad. He sat by his side all day long, followed him to the bathroom and waited outside till he emerged, slept in his bed - keeping watch for the next 3 weeks. Dogs know.

I met #KamlaBhasin at her home in 1982. Her son had a severe disability and high support needs and she loved him just as he was. When my own disabled daughter arrived many years later, I took courage from Kamla's contagious joy and invincible spirit. What a woman!

Being a grandma in #lockdown is almost like being a new Mom. I'm sleep-deprived, given to swaying in place whether or not Uma is in my arms and locked into a schedule imposed by a tummy that can only make it 2.5 hours between feeds.
