I won “a date with Tom Cruise” writing contest. A one on one interview during the War of the Worlds press tour. Totally forgot about it and missed the email with the meet-up details at UCLA. So I stood up Tom Cruise.
Saw DEADPOOL 2 yesterday. Just as fun as the first film, with even more heart. Plenty of rousing action but I appreciated the smaller scale feel it had. Refreshing to see a sequel go smaller and focus more on character.
My 38th 🎂 today. I produced 7 features in the last 12 years all while working at the mall.
I’m BROKE and TIRED.
But dammit, I still intend to find the will to bring these to life:
A Ghost Film
A Werewolf Film
A Kids Horror Film
Christmas Horror
& MORE
There’s still time.
Some positivity for your feed. 2 years ago my dog, Roxie had a spinal injury. Couldn’t use her back legs anymore. She’s worked hard to gain back her mobility. Today she started following me around again. I had forgotten what that felt like.
So grateful.

If the intent of the storytellers is to scare you, it's horror. Whether it actually scared you is irrelevant. You can't say something's not a horror movie just because it didn't scare you. If they were hoping to do so and did their damndest but failed, it's still horror IMO.
So is the intent of their posts to discourage audiences from seeing films? Sure feels like it. Because if so that is some nefarious, fucked up, unnecessary shenanigans.
Hot garbage take right here. As a horror filmmaker for the last decade, I have found the horror community and fanbase to be caring and empathetic not only to the characters on screen, but to the creators, and each other.
I loved Doctor Sleep. Everything The Shining isn't. But also a worthy followup. Wears its heart on its sleeve. The True Knot are terrifying creatures. Rose the Hat is a big screen villain I'll remember. I think this film is going to age well and pick up fans in the long run.
Drove a thousand miles today from Baltimore to Pensacola, FL. Currently staring at the moonlight reflecting off the ocean. Adulthood doesn’t allow the opportunity for much adventure, but when it comes it feels fucking awesome.
Don’t get me wrong. There is action. It is big. But both my friend and I, leaving with smiles in our faces said to each other: “Did that feel way smaller to you?” And we both agreed but still loved it.
Excited to share the spooky news.
@Shudder
just revealed the rest of their October lineup. Our film WNUF Halloween Special will be available on Oct 5th.
Bonkers to be included in a lineup with
@CreepshowTv
and
@therealjoebob
@kinky_horror
So grateful!

How does Egon have teenage grandchildren if he didn't even have a kid in 1989?
STUDIO SUITS
Who cares? Stranger Things with ghosts will make a billion dollars.
GHOSTBUSTERS FAN
You’re right. I’ll see this at least 3 times in theaters.

I was in a FB group that was "For Movie Fans" and the last several popular threads were "What's the worst movie ever?" "What's the most overrated movie?" "Who's the most overrated director?"
YEP, THIS IS MODERN FANDOM. Hot garbage takes for fun.
My 41st 🎂 today.
A feature script I was hired to write is close to going into production.
If it happens, it will simultaneously mark two stories off this bucket list.
Fingers crossed the movie becomes a reality soon!
You never know what the future holds.

! Today we celebrate the unsung heroes of cinema, SCREENWRITERS. After all, before it goes on the screen, it starts on the page.
FAN
I’ll admit it, I illegally downloaded your film.

Cool. I’m still dirt poor even though I’ve made 6 feature films distributed worldwide that can be found in stores like FYE and on almost every major streaming platform except Netflix and HULU. I appreciate your support.
Twitter friends. Having emergency appendectomy soon. I'll take any positive vibes I can get from the universe. You guys always make me smile and I appreciate that.
I often see criticisms of characters who are morally sound and do the right thing as being boring.
I personally find them more compelling because in my experience being an asshole is humanity’s default setting.
Why can’t Twitter add a function to tag your tweet as a SPOILER that gets blurred unless you double tap? If it’s implementable, seems like it would eliminate a lot of pain points for Twitter users and improve the platform. I’m sure others have suggested this but I haven’t seen it
Keanu understands movies are an endless collaboration. I had a film teacher tell a story of being at an after party of a local production he worked on. Teacher stood in a corner with no one to talk to. Keanu came up to him. Introduced himself. Thanked him for helping on the film
What obvious fact is someone going to point out about Home Alone next year? “I lived my whole life and never realized Kevin’s parents left him home alone. So THAT explains the title!”
Excited to exclusively announce that WNUF Halloween Special, which I absolutely adore, is coming to Blu-ray courtesy of new label Terror Vision Films in October. And it's up for pre-order right now!
That feeling when you’ve learned not to engage in the “thriller” vs “horror” debate because FINALLY after years of energy draining pointless discourse, you don’t care.
A typical twitter conversation:

Water is wet.
TWITTER DUDE 1
Whatever, it’s H2O.
TWITTER DUDE 2
Water is one the basic necessities of human life, dude. Jesus.
TWITTER DUDE 3
To be fair, depends on the temp.
TWITTER DUDE 4
Water is not wet. Fuck you.
I just want to be able to have Internet, pay my mortgage, buy a cool book or blu-ray once in a while, and go out to eat on Saturdays. Unfortunately that's an $80,000 a year lifestyle in this world.
The “Tales From The Crypt” TV series premiered on this date in 1989. So many great episodes. I adore this show!
Which episode is your favorite?

Worst THE LAST JEDI criticisms are those that acknowledge that all the time fans spent on their theories turned out to be for nothing. Simple solution for next time: Stop wasting your creative energy on fan theories.
Been hired to write a script so
@ScriptButcher
is on hiatus.
Director and Producers have approved the treatment. Now it’s on to the financiers for approval.
FINGERS CROSSED!
Having a horror streaming network as awesome as Shudder promote your film is a horror filmmaker’s dream. So grateful to
@shudder
for continuing to help introduce our flick, WNUF Halloween Special to a wider audience.
Yesterday was 500 Days without Diet Coke.
I used to drink 2 liters a day. Every single day for 20+ years.
I think I'll always crave it, but it's getting easier to resist.
Hopefully during its promotion, the new Candyman conversation will focus more on the work of its director, Nia DaCosta.
I love Jordan's films. I know he co-wrote the script.
But the timeline is already treating this like he directed it. Let's fix that!
Was randomly offered a solid retail position, a job I worked for 17 years. Considered cutting Script Butcher to part time to take the job. The universe put this quote in my face right before I was gonna email my acceptance. Thanks, universe! Hard NO. Script Butcher all the way.
OVERLORD. Hot damn, what a ride. From the opening sequence it never lets up. Brutal, rousing action. Terrifying creature work. Memorable characters. It’s a World War 2, Sci-Fi extravaganza. SEE IT! 🔥🔥🔥
What’s your favorite trailer line of all time? Why?
I’ll start.
DON’T TELL MOM THE BABYSITTER’S DEAD.
“Dishes are done, man.”
It’s funny, clever, and relatable. A perfect encapsulation of the movie’s “siblings left alone all summer with no supervision” premise.
I wonder if all these aspiring directors on this platform I see shitting all over people's films will continue to do so after they've directed their first feature. I hope gaining perspective humbles them.
I see a lot of dudes calling the endless sexual harassment stories a "witch hunt". Fucking despicable that even now as these brave women finally come out to share their stories, you're behaving the exact way they feared you would. I believe every horrifying word of their stories.
LOVE THIS pic of Stephen King at his house. About a decade ago I visited and while posing for a photo in front of this gate, someone pulled up. My rude tourist-self was blocking the car from getting in. I rushed out of the way, too embarrassed to look and see if it was him.
Love sharing my dog Roxie’s progress. Two years ago she lost the use of her back legs. We’ve been working to help her regain mobility ever since. Today she started playing with her toys on her own again. PS: Apologies for my sound effects but she loves the encouragement.
Most people don’t realize when they’re watching a microbudget film that the ideas you’re seeing on screen are most likely not the filmmaker’s preferred creative choices for the story. They are just the ones they knew they could pull off with limited means.
When you work retail most customers treat you as LESS THAN. During my 17 years at the mall, I worked alongside brilliant:
Teachers
Medical students
Law school students
Neuroscientists
Veterans & Active Military
Not to mention the hardworking steadfast teammates without degrees.

•What's lost if they fail?
•What CHOICES do they make based on these answers?
