PL referee Michael Oliver has admitted that Jordan Pickford should have been sent off for his challenge on Virgil van Dijk in October's Merseyside derby 🔴 [

I interviewed Roberto Martinez not long after he left Everton, knowing for a fact he was dog shit. By the end of the conversation he’d convinced me he was an Everton great. The man has Jedi mind skills. I completely get how he manages to get such good jobs
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits it may be difficult for Virgil Van Dijk to forget what happened to him on his last visit to Goodison Park for a Merseyside derby.
Due to ongoing PSR problems Everton will likely have to sell him discounted to clubs either heavily in debt [£1.3 bln (Madrid), £1.09 bln (Utd),£700m (Spurs)] or one facing 115 financial charges
Modern football eh?
🗞️Manchester City are interested in Jarrad Branthwaite and will monitor his situation this summer with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham also showing their interest

When Everton won the League, the Cup Winners Cup and made it to the FA Cup final in 1985, a relatively small squad played 63 games. Last season City’s enormous squad played 61. Not entirely sure the ‘playing more games than ever’ argument really holds up
Leeds - Bielsa to Allardyce in three moves
Everton - Ancelotti to Dyche in three moves.
Is it any wonder two clubs that run so incoherently are doing so badly?
Doesn't matter that Jamie Carragher was a boyhood Evertonian. Anakin Skywalker was a boyhood Jedi but I don't recall Yoda giving a fuck what Darth Vader thought
Lots of ‘ifs’ but if survival was achieved before the Arsenal game, and the title went down to the final day, I’d love Everton to spoil the League’s big day by downing tools completely and letting the Gunners put 50 past us
So this season, according to different commissions, £19m warrants 10 points, £19m warrants 6 points, £34m warrants 6 points, and £16m warrants 2 points. Who says the Premier League isn’t fit for purpose?
Everton now the only club in the League to run a positive transfer balance over the last 5 years. But lazy pundits and writers will still talk about ‘big spending’ Everton
‘Break the rules, you get punished’.
That’s what Evertonians keep getting told
But what if they change the rules half way through and punish you for something they told you could do?
Nathan Paterson using his neck here in a disgusting attempt to injure the hand of Nicolas Jackson
A likely further 10 point deduction heading Everton’s way?
Just a reminder that over the course of the last few years a handful of clubs did threaten the integrity of English football. Only it wasn’t Everton, Nottingham Forest or Leicester City.
Everton have spent the last few years remedying the bloated wage bill, eviscerating the transfer budget, while investing in a new stadium to improve future sustainability.
It seems the League’s response to this is do whatever it can to push the club into financial oblivion
If a football authority has been working closely with a club to monitor its finances and then decides to charge that club for the same financial irregularity twice, while making up punishments as they go along, it’s fair to say it’s probably time for an independent regulator
Premier League clubs have continued to play two footballers, and kept a boss in post, while knowing they are under police investigation for sexual or domestic violence.
More:
‘Wait until the tough run ends’, Wait until we get DCL back’, ‘Wait until we have our best 11’, ‘Wait until Benitez has gone’. Maybe Everton are just shite
We’re now past 100 games since a player was sent off against Everton. No Premier League team has ever reached this milestone. Do we get a cup or something?
An easy way to solve the problem of too many games might be to make the Champions League only for actual Champions and go back to a straight knockout format. Maybe knock those pre season tournaments on the head too
Is anyone else enjoying this new ruling that enables opposition players to intermittently choke Everton players without sanction? It’s all about the great content
Just a reminder that Everton partly got into their current state due to an investor’s connection with the monster on the left
By contrast, Newcastle are enjoying a footballing renaissance due their relationship with the monster on the right
The Premier League eh?
There are probably two reasons why Jordon Pickford continues to have doubters
1) He’s emotional
2) He plays for Everton
Neither reason detracts from the fact that he’s fucking brilliant
Heading into their 4th season of austerity, with the squad trimmed to the bone, Everton go to Spurs with 14 fit senior players
Meanwhile Chelsea head to Wolves with a squad of 42
As you can see, PSR is working it’s magic
How great it is for the game that the Champions League Final will again be contended by two clubs who this time last year were prepared to completely bin the competition off. Modern Football is a truly wonderful thing
Carlo Ancelotti has done some incredible things in football. Sniding his way past City is certainly one of them
But the jewel in his crown will always be those few months when he made Michael Keane look like a competent defender
The standard of research here, and the narrative being pushed, is incredible
Just for the record, the ‘splurge’ and our attempt to ‘live the dream’ was fuelled by this spending
23/24: £36.23m
22/23: £21.7m
21/22: £5.56m
20/21: £-59.75m
19/20: £-28.38m
Total: £-27.54m
Everton ignored multiple warnings and splurged money under Frank Lampard. They tried to live the dream – now they’re paying the price

Same FA Cup and League Cup finalists. Same handful of teams going for the title. The sterility of English football makes you wonder why anybody opposed the Sky 6 fucking off to the ESL?
Also on today, it doesn't matter that Jamie Carragher was a boyhood Evertonian. Anakin Skywalker was a boyhood Jedi but I can't imagine the Rebel Alliance wanting Darth Vader on co-comms for the Battle of Hoth
Everton are partly in a financial hole because a sponsor with links to Russia was sanctioned. You either have consistency with this or don’t bother.
You now have a league within a league, where different rules apply to different clubs
This is a serious matter

You can't consistently spend like the elite until you grow revenue. The best way to grow revenue is to enjoy on field success. But you can't do that without consistently spending like the elite. But of course, you can’t consistently spend like the elite until you grow revenue
My son loved Richarlison. Then after he left, he switched to Gordon. Going by this pattern, I’m trying to get him to make Michael Keane his next favourite after Gordon goes
Going by how widespread the ‘cheating’ and the ‘you wasted money on transfers’ narratives are, the Premier League’s media machine has done a great job muddying the waters.
Rarely now is the reality below seen outside Everton media
Even if this summer is bumpy, never forget, nothing will be as bad as Everton’s summer of 2021
Ancelotti quits in May
Benitez arrives in June
Captain arrested in July
Rondon the ‘marquee’ signing
Kenyan ‘Vampire' arrested on multiple murder charges turns out to be a Blue
I know modern footballers are guns for hire who don’t really have any affiliation with the fans. But, to be celebrating potentially relegating the club that created you as a player and who you supported all your life seems to be the extreme end of of mercenary spectrum
After robbing Everton of a point, to put Kavanagh in charge of the game that could consign the club to the bottom three tells you all you need to know about that ‘apology’
