in this week's episode & reviewed 6 prospects eligible for the draft.
Roger McQueen
Gabriel D'Aigle
Joshua Ravensbergen
Victor Eklund
Michael Misa
Haoxi Simon Wang
1/13 PHI Jett Luchanko RC
Luchanko has been in our first round since November; however, it took longer for the consensus to figure him out. He's one of the smartest players in this class, one of the better skaters, and one of the hardest workers. There's a lot to like here.
Kaiden Guhle has been compared to Shea Weber, Hal Gill, Jakob Chychrun and Adam Foote in the last 2 weeks by Montreal media.
Welcome to Montreal Kaiden 😆
Hearing Pavel Zacha's name in trade rumours is kinda funny to me because I will never forget the events of the summer of 2014 after the CHL import draft. This was so entertaining.
Matthew Knies to Toronto: He has all the tools to be a very good power forward at the NHL level. The skating got better, he has great hands, great shot, and playmaking abilities. He's one of the best players to protect the puck in this draft. One of our favourites
#NHLdraft
The
@Senators
got a real good one in Jake Sanderson. He was our top-D in the 2020 draft and 5th overall on our list. That day 1 draft by the
#Sens
with Stützle, Sanderson and Greig was something else.
In regards to Devon Levi not signing with
#LetsGoBuffalo
and going back to Northeastern. Here’s a long thread that might explain the thought process behind it. If you look at his history, he has always made decisions that made sense for him, but never the expected one. 1/13
1/28 TOR Easton Cowan: Highly smart & competitive forward from the London Knights. He’s the type of forward who can play anywhere in a lineup. He’s got real strong playoff value and he gets the tag “that guy is a hockey player”. He made huge progress this season with LDN.
1/10 OTT Tyler Boucher RW: Most physical player in this draft, one of my quotes in the Black Book was that watching him run over guys is like watching an NFL linebacker playing hockey. He's smart, a very good skater, and an underrated playmaker. Needs to stay healthy.
#NHLDraft
Dmitriy Simashev is our 5th ranked prospect at
@ScoutingService
for the 2023
#NHLDraft
. Here's a 2 minute video of his skating skills and why he's one of the top skaters and best pure athletes from this draft class.
..from a draft-eligible player I had ever heard. He gave an amazing answer when asked by Guy about smaller goaltenders in today’s NHL (see video attached). 12/13
1/15 MTL Cole Caufield F
Elite scorer and shot. Caufield was 11 on our list. We gave him a "9" for skills in our ratings. He's basically a 5'07" Patrik Laine. Him and Kotkaniemi could become very good friend.
The QMJHL needs to end the policy of bringing goalkeepers from Ontario into the QMJHL taking away chances for Québec/Atlantic kids to play. Sitting on the bench watching an Ontario goalie is
No way to develop

Mike Bossy's career numbers are insane, from junior to the NHL only one time he didn’t score 50 goals and this was his last season before he retired. What a career.
Since Lafrenière has indicated he wants the accent to be used on his name, because that's how his name is spelled, would it be too much to ask for the league's social channels to spell his name correctly?
1/10 ANA Pavel Mintyukov: Easily one of our favs in this class. He can do whatever he wants on the ice. He has size, skating, skills & physicality. He just needs to play with more structure defensively which we believe he will get at the pro level. He’s as good as Jiricek/Nemec.
Bradly Nadeau is our 21st-ranked prospect at
@ScoutingService
for the 2023
#NHLDraft
. He's one of the best pure shooters from this draft class, but his playmaking skills are very good as well, and not talked about enough. Let's take a look at some of his best goals and assists:
1/30 CAR Bradly Nadeau: One of the best pure shooters in the draft, great on the PP from the half wall and one of the best one-timers in the draft. He’s smart and competes hard. Underrated playmaker & a quick thinker on the ice. Off to Maine University in the NCAA next season.
Knies is built for playoff hockey, he was a major steal by the Leafs in the draft (and by steal I mean it was incomprehensible that we was available at that spot). He was exactly the type of player they needed.
#LeafsForever
Matt Knies (
#89
) finished the regular-season portion of the year this past weekend with Minnesota. Here are all of his goals and notable assists.
NCAA regular-season totals:
• 21-22: 28 GP, 10 G, 27 PTS, 0.96 PPG
• 22-23: 34 GP, 21 G, 39 PTS, 1.15 PPG
Noah Dobson only played 36 mins today after playing 39 mins on friday :). Not sure what the plans of the Islanders are for next year but it will be a waste to have him back in junior. Definitely pro-ready.
You have a franchise player and the best WHL player since I can’t remember in Connor Bedard for 3 (ish) seasons and you can’t get him great players to play with to go on a deep playoff run in his final season is astonishing to me.
I don't think people realize how much of a steal that Xhekaj signing was for the Habs. It's really hard to find guys like him, he's a unicorn. They got him for FREE. If they didn’t sign him, there would have been a massive race to sign him in his last OHL season from NHL teams.
1/4 CLB Cayden Lindstrom LC
One of the unicorns in this draft, he possesses the size, speed, hands, shooting skills, and mean streak to be a force in the NHL. The time he lost in the 2nd half is a question mark, but his potential is enormous, and he is also built for playoff

eligibles at the World Championship starting this Friday in Finland.
Marco Kasper (AUT)
Simon Nemec (SVK)
Juraj Slafkovsky (SVK)
Adam Sykora (SVK)
David Jiricek (CZE)
Seriously if the habs are winning this Vegas series in 6 games....Game 6 is in Montréal on June 24 aka Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day the downtown part of Montréal will literally go down in flames...

The bottom line: don’t doubt his decision-making. He has proven many times that nobody knows what’s best for Devon Levi better than Devon Levi himself. He’s kinda like Rowdy Roddy Piper: when you think you have all the answers, he changes the questions. 9/13

to when Clément Jodoin and the Rimouski Oceanic made 16 straight passes in the defensive zone to make fun of the Montreal Juniors and Pascal Vincent defensive system
#BecauseItsTheQ
Dmitri Rashevsky to Winnipeg is a very interesting, super talented winger that we had just outside the first round of the draft last year and went undrafted because he was unlikely to come to North America. If he's coming now he could be a great value pick for the Jets.
#nhldraft
Toronto takes Timofei Obvintsev 157th overall, he was our 5th ranked goaltender on our goalie list.
#LeafsForever
He's our full conversation about him on our goalie podcast:
Hockey doesn’t get me too emotional, I’m an old soul who watches way too many hockey games, but today was special. Getting my father-in-law (of Ukrainian descent) to see team 🇺🇦 today at the
@tournoipeewee
is right at the top of the list.
#SlavaUkraini
À quand qu’on va arrêter de lui donner une plateforme et des articles a chaque fois qu’il tweet de quoi. Ça serait le temps que le monde se réveille, c’est gênant l’exposure qu’il reçoit dans les médias.
Great story , played Midget CC at 15-16, Midget AA at 17 then drafted in round 11 by Rimouski, made his debut with the Oceanic at 18 and now has a NHL deal . Heck,
@eliteprospects
who has stats of every league possible don't have his stats from his Midget CC & AA seasons.
Every time I see the Islanders not play Dobson I remember the insane usage he had last year. Ice time at the 2019 Memorial Cup:
37:01 vs HFX May 26th
38:58 vs GUE May 24th
30:15 vs HFX May 22nd
39:19 vs PA May 20th
34:17 vs GUE May 19th
If Finland wins gold at the World Championships, this will mean Kaapo Kakko has won gold at the U-18, U-20 and Senior World Championships in the last 12 months.

Very happy to see Tyler Boucher doing well at this tournament, he’s been good in every game that I have been to Ottawa this season. If he stays healthy he’s going to be a player for the Sens.
J’aime beaucoup quand les joueurs sont calme sur la patinoire, un bel exemple ici avec Tristan Luneau des
@OlympiquesGAT
ce soir en prolongation vs VDO. Pas grand chose qui le stress :)
#lhjmq
You might not agree with everything he said, but he believes 100% of what he’s saying. I love the confidence, the research and the thought process in that answer. End of thread. 13/13
4/100 CAR Alexander Rykov: Rykov might be the most underrated player in this class, we have him in our top-32 & he didn’t made Bob Mckenzie top96 list. We either going to look very good or really bad in 5 years. We love the skating, passing skills and compete level. Middle 6 fwd.
Leo Carlsson is our 2nd ranked prospect for the 2023
#NHLDraft
at
@ScoutingService
. He's one of the smartest players in this draft class & we project him as a great two-way center. Here's a 2-minute video of Carlsson beating players one on one and creating plays for his teammates

Vincent Marleau Montreal

On August 16th, 2011, I joined
@ScoutingService
. I’m really happy with the work I have been able to accomplish with our QMJHL Draft coverage since 2013 & helping make our NHL Draft coverage & the NHL Draft Black Book what it is today. More to come this season 😎
…coming into this series, Levi and the Lions would upset Lévis in 5 games. He would make 53 saves in game 1, 53 more in game 2, then 64 saves in game 3, 43 saves in game 4 and 52 saves in game 5. He would win playoff MVP and the league’s best goalie award. 5/13
Selon
@EttedguiDavid
, il s'agirait d'une catastrophe si Matvei Michkov est disponible au cinquième rang et que le Canadien ne le sélectionne pas. 🔵⚪️🔴
Êtes-vous en accord avec cette affirmation?
Daniil But is our 7th-ranked prospect for the 2023
#NHLDraft
at
@ScoutingService
. He's a freak athlete with tons of potential & high compete. We project him as an excellent two-way power forward in the NHL. He's been in our top10 in every list we have published since June 2022.
