Standing up for Minnesota workers continues to be a top priority as I continue my work in the Senate.
I am honored to have a 100% voting record with the Minnesota AFL-CIO.
When Labor wins, workers win.
Below are the 2021 legislative voting percentages from

Reading about another homeless encampment being raided and cleared out today in Mpls, right before a blizzard and killer temp drop. Where did the people go? Are they safe? Please someone tell me I’m missing something here.
Coming off a difficult day yesterday, proud to sign on to my first bill in the Minnesota State Senate: National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
@NatlPopularVote
@AbolishEC
This is why Republicans keep losing in Minnesota— too many outspoken Republican leaders peddle in cruelty, hate, exclusion and judgment. Thank goodness we live in a state with a majority of citizens who see their rhetoric for what it is and repeatedly reject it.
#MinnesotaProud
A truly terrible, embarrassing way to cap off the session. Could have still studied the issues, still made changes next year if they’re warranted. This feels like a slap in the face to all those workers who showed up day after day demanding this bill pass and be signed into law.
BREAKING: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has vetoed a bill to give rideshare drivers minimum pay rates after Uber threatened to withdraw from most of the state if the bill was signed into law.
We did it! 🥲 We just passed our Labor Omnibus in the MN Senate! Thanks to all of the workers and organizers, and to our amazing staff! ❤️👏🏼

@FabianBean
Minnesota is on the verge of passing a dramatic victory for workers that would ban captive audience meetings, create a board to set minimum labor standards for nursing homes, improve workplace safety and rights for warehouse and meatpacking workers, and more.

Here in Minnesota, we hold dear that we all have a fundamental right to make autonomous decisions about our own reproductive healthcare. I am so proud that we have passed the PRO Act last night. We have taken a big step forward. Here in the North Star State, we will lead.

A just-former MN State Senator 👀 is in DC lobbying for a certain multibillion dollar international mining corporation, for a project that stands to devastate our watersheds and economy in northeast MN. All for the 💵. Thanks for making things clear AOC!
Today during a committee hearing on the Boundary Waters, we discovered that one of the witnesses testifying was actually a lobbyist for a mining company.
This company would profit off of mining in the Boundary Waters, all while polluting and causing irreparable harm to the land.
This is your doing. The armed white nationalists storming our capital building right now are there because of you and the other Republican leaders who encouraged them. Shame on you. You are a disgrace to the 8th and to the State of Minnesota. I call on you to resign.
When the Northern Lights Express (NLX) is built and operating- to my “Cities” friends: this is what you do. There are going to be many days over 100 degrees where you live. 🥵 I’m sorry about that. That’s horrible. Lucky for us in Duluth, it will only be in the low 80s. 1/5
We have a $9 billion dollar surplus in MN— w/ teachers asking for help across the state, some districts talking about making cuts…
It is unconscionable that the first education bill we see from MN Senate Repubs is one that puts MORE burdens on our teachers.

Actually, we specifically crafted the legislation to make sure possession is NOT banned, only further sales. And we paired it with a buy-back. This is all about reducing the number of these war weapons out there. That’s all. Because it’s the guns.
The Minnesota Disarmament Regime never stops - Senator
@JenMcEwenMN
has introduced a ban on nearly all semi-automatic firearms in the state, including pistols -- and budget $$ for the state to "buy back" your firearms.
Help us STOP this unconstitutional gun ban by signing our
MN public defense attorneys and staff are stretched to the breaking point. As a former public defender in Duluth, I know exactly how overworked and inequitably paid these workers are. I stand with our public defenders in solidarity for their strike authorization vote today. (1)
Sometimes being a DFLer in the same political party with neo-liberal democrats is… well… I’ll just say we could sure use a lot more of the Farmer-Labor part.

Full sellout from the White House for the majority of rail workers who rejected the deal the President brokered, preemptively denying them the right to strike.
This was the “which side are you on?” moment, and the White House chose the railroad bosses.
I am voting NO on this bill. More police?!?
The human rights abuses, military occupation, tear gas, rubber bullets, unlawful detentions, from LE just this week have reinforced that more LE is the problem, not the solution. More money? After this past week? I don’t think so.
As a DFL elected official, I condemn this act of violence committed by the Nasri Warsame campaign at the Minneapolis Ward 10 convention. Acts of intimidation and violence have no place in the Democratic Farmer Labor Party.
Today was horrifying, unacceptable, and indicative of the growing threat to progressive, pro-people candidates and movement leaders.
See my campaign’s statement on the violence perpetrated by the Nasri Warsame campaign at the Ward 10 convention today.
There is a power dynamic between employer and employee, and it is inherently unequal.
Workers deserve a seat at the table, and my door will always be open to listen, to learn, and to advocate with you.

MN Senate Repubs continue to refuse to step up and do the job of protecting Minnesotans during this pandemic. Their message to Minnesota workers: don't worry, your boss will take care of you.
My remarks from today on their deeply flawed bill, S.F. 1.
Exactly. It’s true, President Reagan’s legacy is a disgrace. His campaigns and administration brought out the worst in us. We could have been better. We struggle with the consequences into today. I’m proud to be from Minnesota, the state that voted for better and still does.
This whole thing— we’re working to make Minnesota a beacon of hope in the middle of the continent and then there’s this… a reminder that 💵 continues to rule supreme in this system, and in healthcare especially. It doesn’t have to be this way. It shouldn’t be this way.
#mnleg
Here’s your “it’s so warm that we have a severe thunderstorm forecast for Minnesota in December” red flag.
Will that do the trick for you to get the urgency? For me, it was a Duluth scientist relating: “the boreal forests will be gone.”
We have until 2030. What’s the plan?
This decision is profoundly disappointing and frankly, a disgrace to our state. This is on us-- the world is counting on us to do the right thing. What kind of legacy to we want to leave for our children and the generations to come?
Scientists showed Line 3 would harm our climate & our water.
Young people asked us to protect their future.
Tribal communities asked us to protect their resources.
The law gave the State of MN the power to say no.
@MnPCA

MN Senate Republicans are trying to micro-manage the funding for Minnesota Attorney General Ellison’s office right now and it feels… well, hard to imagine them ever doing this to another prosecutor’s office. 🧐

This is dangerous.

“We want them to know that that bill is going to be dead on arrival,” Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson says of the $1.9 billion bonding bill. Republicans want to see tax cuts before they’d put up votes for the capital investment plan.
Enbridge has fallen considerably short of goals to hire Minnesota workers for its controversial new oil 340-mile pipeline across the northern part of the state.
Ridiculous, immoral take here from the MN Chamber. To any business that is a member, understand: this is what your dues are paying for. They are using you to fight against the most modest advances for MN working people— all for BIG business, not small— def not for working MNs.

Some of the best conversations I had during the campaign were with workers and unions about Line 3 and why I oppose it. Workers understand that Line 3 is wrong. They're ready for better, and looking for honest leadership- dividing Labor is not where it's at.
Some DFL legislators don’t want facts regarding pipelines - they want an issue they know they can use to fire up their base - it’s a dangerous politics, and we should all reject theses tactics

@aysrick
@mnguncaucus
@JenMcEwenMN
Buy back assumes you owned it in the first place. It is an absolutely absurd term. It is just another attempt at brainwashing the public into the mindset that the government owns the gun, not the citizens.
It’s a moral failure of almost unimaginable magnitude each time our children are murdered and we just continue to brace ourselves, hoping the next one doesn’t happen to our own family or community.
When will we have the collective political courage to act?
#mnleg
We banned lawn darts after 3 kids died in accidents. We banned a dresser from IKEA because it was flawed and killed 8 children. Meanwhile, 22 kids are shot every day with guns—5 will die every single day. The Republicans refuse any measures to curb the violence. They don’t care.
The Tennessee Repub-led legislature is removing three Dem legislators who helped lead a gun violence prevention action, allegedly breaking TN leg decorum rules. Removing democratically-elected officials from power, for an alleged decorum breech, while kids are murdered in school.
Tonight as Tennessee House Republicans push forward to schedule vote on our expulsion, Speaker Sexton orders the gallery cleared as crowd chants “fascists.”
