Many streets in even well-off Caracas neighborhoods are literal graveyards for cars whose owners can not afford to repair them. A blow out can mean the end of car ownership. Plants sprout from cars much younger than this. I have no idea how he keeps this old fella alive.

Got Covid tested in Aug. They asked if I had insurance so I gave it to them. If I”d paid in cash w/ out insurance at site would’ve cost $150. I just saw my bill, they billed $650 and I pay $122. Saved $28 out of pocket but it feels like I took part in insurance fraud.

I’ve gotten a freelance gig that basically pays me to read and write about books. (The dream, basically) However, I seem to be using that as justification to not change out of pajamas. If I didn’t have the project I’d have changed by now for sure.

Vzla State tv shows dialysis meds arriving. Govt has long said economic blockade prohibited such shipments rather than criminal negligence. Govt supporters who believe the line I can’t comment on, but inexcusable that intl English speaking Govt supporters parroted the same thing.

Meetings were held in Panama, DR & Bogota. And the plan was to avoid an unpalatable Latam-style coup but rather remove Maduro through a court ruling allowing military to save face. via @WSJ

The oldest appears to have been hired at mcDonalds, which was my first job at 15. Unlike my tenure in 1992, starting wage is above minimum wage. He thinks he’s going to get $400 a wk, I’m a bit concerned at how the dawn of taxes affects his burgeoning political identity
