"Taxpayer" identity has an long, old, and mostly sordid history. It picked up life in the USA after Reconstruction ended as a way of poisoning multi-racial working-class solidarity by getting white people to perceive themselves as funding black people.

That is why universal basic income is everyone's birthright. Universal basic income is reparations for land enclosure, which was deliberately done in order to compel the dispossessed to do powerful people's bidding. #BasicIncome #geoism

Look, please don't ask me how I know this, but, beyond the harmful effect that this excuse has on #ActuallyAutistic people, I have two reasons to very strongly suspect that his autism excuse for his behavior is total nonsense.

He claims to be autistic. This is not a problem in and of itself, because, especially in a country with no universal healthcare, we believe self-diagnosis to be valid. The real problem is that he has a habit of blaming his sexual harassment on his autism. ๐Ÿ˜ก ๐Ÿคฌ ๐Ÿ˜ก

Now, before we get into whether his "I'm autistic, I don't read social cues very well" excuse even makes sense, let's consider the effect that the perception that THAT'S why he does this stuff on #ActuallyAutistic is! How will THEY be treated?

@JakeLahut @nicolepagelee So, a universal basic income would enable us to do good journalism work without having to concern ourselves as much with ensuring that the work translates into enough money to avoid starvation and homelessness.

@mscrosswi @StephanieKelton @mucha_carlos Strike out the passage that limits the monetary amounts of payouts to the quantity of FICA tax 'receipts' and replace it with something like "such funds as may be necessary." Done. The fake "solvency" crisis would be permanently over.

Today's Yang-Sanders spat highlights two things. 1.) Relying so heavily on the looming 'threat' of automation as a way to justify UBI is a bad idea. 2.) Sanders's opposition to UBI should surprise nobody, and the signs were there all along. THREAD #BasicIncome

I asked @BernieSanders how he would deal with automation and why he believes a federal jobs guarantee is superior to UBI. "I think most people want to work...part of our humanity is when we are productive members of our society." FULL: #rising #yanggang

We have a toxic reductive, either-or, zero-sum sociopolitical system in which all that an aspiring grifter and predator like Rob Anderson - or a Republican equivalent - has to do to get followers is posit himself as being against the one and only other team.

But *like* a smart autistic person with pattern-recognition skills, #RobAnderson noticed a huge weakness in USian politics and decided to exploit it. He noticed the horribly-toxic dynamics created by the two-party system and decided to take advantage of them.

@AndrewYang We should ensure that everyone has an unconditional income FLOOR. Please don't say "give." Universal basic income is a matter of justice, not charity.

@LaurenKGurley @MythSerene Such a big missed opportunity considering the Trumpist leanings of so many railroaders. Imagine the effect of Biden coming out on the side of railroaders.

So why won't the carriers change their attendance policies? They've said that they already offer ample time off, including up to 5 weeks vacation, depending on seniority. + a Biden-appointed board brokering the dispute did not recommend a change to attendance policies

@carynannharlos @ninaturner It seems like "are firefighters enslaved" is a really easy question to answer, especially for someone who threw out the enslavement charge in the first place.

@rcbregman @Josh_McGee_G Automation means that it is no longer necessary for most of us to toil in wage labor, and there is no more excuse for withholding access to needed resources. Got that, Bernie? Let us LIVE, and we will work. That's all. Good night. <fin> #BasicIncome

Can we acknowledge that automation is NOT why we need UBI? Civilization accepting money as the tool to access enclosed commons is why we needed UBI centuries ago. Change my mind.

This is why I so often say to anti-UBI people, "you didn't create the Earth." No person created the Earth. We must always point this out. Therefore, nobody has any authority to come between another person and needed, life-sustaining resources. That is #geoism . #BasicIncome
