JUST IN: The first EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING of the year has been issued for Miami-Dade and Broward.
Feels-like temperatures will surge as high as 113F today. 🥵🥵🥵
Ever since I was 12 I have been lucky to know I wanted to be a meteorologist, and now I’m living the dream in a city I love.
I’m thrilled and grateful to share I’m now the Weekend Morning Meteorologist at
@WSVN
!
Hope you tune in weekend mornings if you’re in South Florida!
South Florida will be in the "dirty sector" of Hurricane
#Milton
today.
With hurricanes approaching land, this northeast quadrant of a storm are most favorable for brief, quick-moving tornadoes.
The first ever EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING has been issued for parts of South Florida for today! 🔥🔥🔥
This is in effect for Miami-Dade County for feels-like temps up to 112F. Stay safe out there.
For the first time since 2004 five planets will align, so be sure to look up and toward the east-northeast Sunday morning before sunrise to see the amazing sight!
🚨🚨🚨 BREAKING NEWS: The cold front is crossing through South Florida right now, with the rain coming to an end and the sunshine starting to return after a wet and windy stretch of weather

is massive and cannot be taken lightly. If you are told to evacuate, do it immediately. If you chose to stay, there is a good chance you die. This will be one of the worst storms to impact the Carolinas in history, so do what you need to do to protect your life.
NEW: All of South Florida now under a Tropical Storm Warning due to tropical storm conditions expected (39+ mph winds) within the next 36 hours due to

I am super excited to share that I have started my first full-time job today as a Weather Producer and Fill-in Weather Anchor at
@WSVN
-TV 7News in Miami!
It’s been a dream to become a broadcast meteorologist and I’m grateful to be able to stay here in South Florida.
Hurricane
#Florence
continues to show signs of strengthening. We may indeed have a major hurricane again as the eye begins to clear out. Regardless, impacts will be the same.
A strong rain band is beginning to pivot into the lower Keys and this should continue to lift northward into South Florida. This could produce stronger winds and may lead to flooding.
Satellite loop recap of Hurricane
#Ian
from Monday through yesterday.
An amazing meteorological sight but an unfortunate and unforgettable storm that has changed southwest Florida's landscape.
There have only been 3 hurricanes that have made landfall on the US as a Category 5 storm:
> Andrew: (1992)
> Camille: Augus (1969)
> 'Labor Day' Hurricane: (1935)
#Michael
may become the 4th.
I am excited to share that today I begin my spring internship, working with the
@CNNWeather
and Climate team. I am looking forward to learning from the team of meteorologists and other members at
@CNN
over the next few months.
September 10, or tomorrow, is the meteorological peak of the Atlantic hurricane season. Mother Nature is living up to the schedule with likely 3 active hurricanes.

The NAM model outputs up to an additional 59 inches of rain in southeastern North Carolina through this weekend.
#Florence
is the East Coast version of Hurricane Harvey. Catastrophic flooding will occur.
Hurricane
#Laura
is quickly getting its act together this afternoon as the eyewall is about completely wrapped around the center of the storm. Expect rapid intensification to take place as early as tonight.
Fort Lauderdale is less than 2 inches away from breaking their wettest year on record, and that will likely fall today with 10+ inch rainfall totals possible in spots by tomorrow.
Flooding will occur by the end of today in parts of South Florida as a result. 🌧️

The first batch of spaghetti models are out on newly-dubbed Invest
#97L
over the western Caribbean Sea.
Most of these models are clustered on a landfall in the Florida Panhandle, but especially since this disturbance is not well organized, shifts are possible!
Almost all of Florida under either a Tropical Storm Warning or Hurricane Warning.
#Helene
is a big storm and will certainty be impactful across much of the state.
Widespread, intense thunderstorms are a characteristic of Hurricane
#Laura
this morning. Classic look of a major hurricane.
Unfortunately, it is headed toward Texas and Louisiana, with catastrophic impacts expected for some.
Looks like a tropical storm.
Feels like a tropical storm.
But it’s not one. Impacts remain the same, though, in the form of heavy rain, gusty winds and minor coastal flooding.
#FLwx
This is starting to get real old...
The past 14 consecutive days have featured cloudy or mostly cloudy skies (at least 70% cloud cover overall) in South Florida.
Hurricane
#Nicole
was definitely an unusual storm given its timing.
It is now only the 3rd hurricane to make landfall in Florida in November, and the first to make landfall on Florida's east coast in 17 years since Katrina in 2005!
Not looking like anything significant at this time but current model guidance takes
#Dorian
in the general direction of Florida with potential arrival time next weekend. Nothing to worry about right now but something to watch.
An absolutely wild, worse-case scenario continues to happen across Grand Bahamas this morning.
#Dorian
has been crawling across this island for hours, still as a Category 5 hurricane.
South Florida will continue to deal with impacts from Tropical Storm
#Nicole
today with bands of rain pivoting onshore along with tropical storm conditions across much of the mainland by this afternoon.
Conditions slowly improve on Thursday.
Well this is very cool. Watch these storms forming over southeastern Texas this afternoon, then collapse as their outflow boundaries spread out to the north and west.
Even though South Florida is no longer in the cone, we are still expecting rounds of rain and gusty winds starting as early as this afternoon.
Best chance for sustained, tropical-storm-force winds will be to our north.
Despite about 30 knots of wind shear ripping through the center of Hurricane
#Florence
, it remains an intense Category 4 storm. Remarkable and highly unusual.
#Miami
has a shot at reaching 98F today.
Not only will that likley crush the daily record high of 95F but it's unusual to get this hot in Miami.
A typical year doesn't get this warm. In recorded history, the city has hit 98F+ just 15 times!
Today could be the 16th.

SATURDAY 11AM ADVISORY: Tropical Storm
#Ian
continues to move over the Caribbean Sea and is forecast to rapidly intensify this weekend.
South Florida is no longer in the cone of concern given a westward shift in the track, but some impacts are still expected from this storm.
Dark, dramatic clouds have infiltrated Manhattan as showers approach from the north. A few occasional drops have already made it down to the ground.
