LitReactor has been such a large part of my life for the last 12 years, I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with myself. Thank you so much to all of our writers & instructors, and everyone who supported us throughout the years. I hope we made a difference.
Get ready for LETTERS TO THE PURPLE SATIN KILLER by Joshua Chaplinsky! A story told with blackest humor & chilling detail through letters to a serial killer that is hated, adored, and feared. The truth lies somewhere in these pages.
Coming summer 2024! 🔪 🔪 🔪
Does this count as a blurb? Should I put it on the cover?
Always felt weird about blurbs & now that I’m an old man I just don’t do it. Still flattered when younger writers reach out tho. Best of luck and hope it breaks through.

Letters to the Purple Satin Killer comes out Today!!!
I wrote about 10 KILLER books that influenced my writing process over at
@GNutsofHorror
.
@CLASHBooks
I wrote this for
@LitReactor
in 2013, and these novels STILL remain unpublished. In most cases, that's probably a good thing, but there are some real heartbreakers on here.

Latest read: A free verse novella featuring talking animals would not be my normal go to, but in Paul I trust and The Beast You Are sucked me right in.
Indie publishing reminds me of the Long Island hardcore scene in the late 90s. We all buy each other's books, appear on each other's podcasts. Once in a while one of us escapes to a bigger pond and is publicly lauded and privately bad-mouthed in equal measure.

Most anything past tier 3 can barely be considered a real movie. They’re just gross-out reels with little to no story or production value.
Too early to talk details, but I just signed the contract for my next novel. A mix of A.M. Homes, C.S. Lewis, & Ann Rule. Coming October 2024 from ?????
New Quentin Dupieux sounds amazing: Le Daim, starring Jean Dujardin as a man who becomes obsessed with owning the designer deerskin jacket of his dreams.

Mother Howl is just as good as I remember it. Hard to believe I first read a draft of the manuscript almost 10 years ago. From what I can tell, nothing major has changed since then, and it blows my mind that it took this long for someone to publish it.
I hate giving books star ratings on Goodreads. Especially knowing so many writers and now having books of my own. It’s a potential minefield of support vs. sincerity.
Thank you all so much for making the release day of 'Letters to the Purple Satin Killer' such a special one! So much of social media feels like screaming into the void but I really felt the love yesterday. You guys have earned yourselves a break from all the non-stop promo.
Attention reviewers, interviewers, podcasters, booktokers bookstagrammers and other socially influential types: we should have ARCs soon. Reach out if you are interested. Thanks!

Fangoria interview! Achievement unlocked! Thanks to Meredith Borders for taking the time to speak w/ me.
"[Chaplinsky is] a singularly inventive, provocative writer, and I urge you to pre-order Letters to the Purple Satin Killer from
@CLASHBooks
without hesitation."
In LETTERS TO THE PURPLE SATIN KILLER, Jonas Williker is a virulent, degenerate serial killer. Enter the mind of
@jaceycockrobin
, the man who invented him.
Letters to the Purple Satin Killer comes out in less than a month! To celebrate, I'm doing a giveaway. Retweet this post to enter. I will chose 1 random US winner Mon July 15. Details in comments.
LTTPSK ARC, Kanye West—Reanimator t-shirt, Postcards From the Future DVD, sticker
Today is pub day for THE PARADOX TWINS. Feels kind of anti-climactic, as it's just another day in front of the computer, so I thought I'd shout-out a few other new releases I've read or am looking forward to, in an attempt to feel something. A thread.
Just now dawning on me, the incredible list of people I got blurbing my debut novel. LITERALLY some of my favorite writers of all time. It's kind of nuts. April 6, 2021.
The Paradox Twins is out in under 3 weeks, & we FINALLY locked typeset (it was a bitch & a half!). To celebrate, I’m gonna do a giveaway, but for now, the cover blurb—from my favorite writer of all time, Steve Erickson. I couldn’t ask for a more meaningful endorsement.
2021 was a pretty good writing year for me.
My debut novel, THE PARADOX TWINS, came out from
@clashbooks
in April. I also signed a contract for a French language edition w/
@Latalante
.
I had 5 new short stories published, 1 story translated for an Italian antho, & 1 reprint.
Oh yeah! Time to milk the last remaining drops from Kanye’s withered teat like I was Luke Skywalker and he was a Thala-siren. Kanye West—Reanimator: The Re-Reanimated Edition. Featuring 40 pages of new content. I swear I'm working on something new! …

I can't stand people who build their entire identity around a single book or band or film, and take any criticism of said art/artist as the most personal of attacks.
God, I wish someone would do this with my book.
