This is a great rep of a "Hinge" or "Fallout" Route vs. Bail Coverage from Malik Nabers
The throw should pull the Receiver Down & Away toward the sideline
To all of our coaching community, one of our beloved athletes passed away on Friday night during the course of a game.
He loved the lord with all of his heart and wore
#17
in honor of his favorite player, Josh Allen.
We would love for this to make it to Josh if possible.
We actually scrapped power and replaced with this look because our H’s are hybrid guys. Easier to read the log as well. Pairs very well with cross face, guard pull, play action!
The “shock” technique is highly underutilized to gain leverage into the box versus a corner who is taking away the inside. Shoot your hands to take the DB’s eyes away from jam then release to the box. Shoot + crack = shock.
We are excited to welcome Josh Thacker as our new offensive coordinator. Coach Thacker comes from Demopolis High School where he served as their Offensive Coordinator for the past two seasons. Before that, he was the Co-Offensive Coordinator at Prattville High School.
Rites of passage for young coaches:
1) Line the field
2) Laundry
3) Organzie weight trees/racks
4) Observe locker room
5) Coffee ready for staff meetings
How tight are you teaching inside zone?
Butt crack of center?
Outside leg of center?
Inside leg of PS guard?
Butt crack of PS guard?
Outside leg of PS guard?
And why?!??
Does same side zone change anything for your reads as a back or entry points?
Everyone would do some good to A) Write down everything he says because he’s hand down the best play caller out there and B) Check him out outside of football, his energy will get you going!
Many coaches believe working longer hours leads to success. The real truth is to be more productive in the time that you work. A lot of wasted hours in coaching. Quality > Quantity.
We can’t thank
@coachcalebross
and the athletic department at Prattville enough for our time as Lions.
@PrattFootball
is a first class organization. We are extremely blessed to have made life long friendships along the way and wish the new coaching staff all the best. (1)
Easy way to learn schemes quickly, padding. Most games can be found on you tube. Time consuming but very beneficial. Also helps when you’re broke 🤷🏻♂️
Most coaches work upwards of 60 hours per week. 40 hour work week at $25 per hr equals $1000 (pre-tax). 20 hours of OT at 37.50 equals $750 in an everyday job. Multiply that by 52 and you get $91,000 per year. Propst is worth much more IMO. Very deserving of his salary.
Excellent play design by
@BrentDearmon
and execution by QB vs. 33 stack look. Overhang (D-Gap Fitter) player triggers before snap, leaving a nice cushion for the speed out/flat vs the 2-High look. Starting to like the speed out/flat instead of just hitches/slants all the time.
It’s
@GrangerShook
and it’s not even close with anyone else. New culture, new staff, and was 4 quarters away from being in Tuscaloosa all while playing in the toughest classification in Alabama High School football.

Y cross isn’t just a play, it’s a whole passing system: Cross, Double Post, Dagger, Wheel.
Lincoln Riley breaking down the coaching points on Y Cross. They will start the read with a pure progression quick game concept to the front side & work back to the Y Cross, but how the defense covers the Y Cross will tell the QB where the ball goes next.

and his family. Genuinely one of the good guys in the game. He was so good to myself and my family during our time together. Can’t wait to watch his future grow in Troy. The Trojans are getting a good one!
@CoachPurzitza
You’re the coordinator but your fellow coaches play a HUGE role in the team success. Let the OL coach set the protections, listen to him about run game. Let the WR coach adjust routes where needed. Let the RB coach spell guys when he feels it’s right. Lean on those guys.

Anyone have any tips on being a 1st year coordinator? Things you’ve learned, struggles, play call sheet, organization, film, staff management, player management, etc. Really anything and everything that doesn’t pertain to X&O’s. Would love to hear from you guys.
@Fertitta_Gabe
and myself have never met. Only connection would be coaching in Alabama. He has never once not answered a question I had for him and has offered up countless nuggets on schemes. I appreciate you, coach. One of the good guys in the game. Best of luck!
Pike Road Sophomore RB Ja’Micahel Jones
@MikeJones__21
runs the football with great balance.
Easy to see why the 2026 RB already holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and several others.

2026 LB
@B__Law5
has emerged as of of the top prospects for
@pikeroadFB
in the 2026 class and could possibly be the top LB. Kid has 73 tackles, 13 TFLs, 4 sacks and 2 interceptions. Pike Road is red hot going into round 3 looking to upset Benjamin Russell this Friday.

My wife and I are excited to become Demopolis Tigers. We can’t wait to start building relationships with our co workers, players and community.
Go Tigers!
I’m biased here but this is the best QB in the class of ‘27, in the country.
Intelligent , great frame, can make all throws off platform, super internal clock and above all, the best anticipation I’ve ever witnessed for someone his age.
Y-cross looks on the backside other than slot fade, fade out and smash?
Also, has anyone tinkered with converting the cross into more of a drive look with a shallow underneath?

A4) I prefer all of you defensive guys to be very specific here and send all of your HUDL installs. You can send a one way exchange to Josh Thacker at Prattville High School. I promise not to share any secrets.

150 guys on roster. 7A Alabama. Zero sub 4.6 guys. Fast is relative. We have some cats that can absolutely go.
Our strength coach has our guys on the Dashr laser system.
I’ve maybe seen 3 Sub 4.5 guys in my life as a coach.
@AlexJKirby
Works a few different ways:
-Throw away from the nickel unless they’re balanced.
-If balanced and MOFO, wrap the Will/Sam.
-If balanced and MOFC, stay in the seam.
-Zone a 3-2 box.

A5) Inject me with all of the 11p Y-off looks and 12p Y-wing looks! The play action looks that can directly mimic a 6-7 man run game are my why. Also being able to account for the backside C gap on weak edge runs is big.

Great weekend of football with coaches representing Madison Ridgeland, Colquitt Co, Daphne, Elberta, McGill Toolen and Prattville High schools! Huge thanks to Coach Ross for putting on a top notch clinic with great programs from the Southeast!

Have answers. Answers in the read game, answers in the RPO game, etc.
Bleed your best runs dry by dressing them up and using subtle tags/adjustments with them.
Find ways to get your best player in space the easiest way possible.
A large menu is not always the answer!

@Coach_JD_Atkins
A1) Saturday: Offensive stats, ODK, offensive tags from the night before. Offensive cut ups for correction.
Sunday: In picture…
@MalikBlocton
will make a huge impact on college football. Will def see him on Sundays in the near future. Doesn’t hurt that he was coached by the best D-line guy in the game!

A5) I was on the most unbelievable staff in Alabama at Prattville. Wealth of knowledge in every room. If they didn’t have the answer, someone had a connection to someone who did. I plan on using that resource forever!

@CoachTM9
Max preps is our yearly database for stats. Good way for the players to look them up quickly in case a recruiter calls them. They also see where they measure up against competition but as far as being recruited off of stats alone, that’s a new one on me.
Better get to know
@EliasHoltzclaw3
for the 2027 class. Elite route runner, fast in and out breaks, handles press well and gets great separation. He will be a name to keep on your radar!
