@ask_aubry I grew up afraid to come home because of my stepmother. As I got older, I realized I never ever fully forgave my father for not protecting me from her, no matter how many marks and bruises I had. I made damn sure my own girls were never afraid to come home.

@fishontherun2 For me, it stopped when I put a bedroom door about 6 inches deep into a wall.. She realized that I actually had one hell of a temper and the muscle to back it up. I moved out one year later and never went back. Never laid a hand on my own kids, either.
