All comments and opinions are my own. I believe strongly in the rights of individuals to speak in their personal capacity. We need all citizens to speak up.
Why is the Government so shy of a fossil fuel export super profits tax. Perhaps Independents could explain that it helps repair the budget and reduce domestic gas and power prices.
Ahh who cares. It is just 14 degrees above normal in the Antarctic. Let’s keep approving those gas and coal mines. How do our politicians sit around and ignore their most fundamental job? Are they ignorant or complicit is the destruction of our future?
Gaza has a coast. Can any one explain why no sensible country has sent supply ships and floating hospitals? All countries have them. I am at a loss by the failing of the international community to act
The Liberal Party as it stands is not worth saving. Remaining moderates should split away from it and watch it sink into the right wing climate skeptic cesspit of corruption is belongs. The brand damage is so great it is time for a new party. You can’t clean it.
Seriously.. using an aid truck and killing 250 women and children to extract 4 people is ok? This must end and the Australian Government must stand up for basis human rights.
The claim by the Gas Industry that the gas price cap on 5% of Australian gas will cause black outs is a total joke and a threat. Albo should use these threats to confirm that Australians won’t be bullied and put in place a super profits tax on 100% of their production in return.
Australia is a joke. Take 2 billion litres of water resulting in million of dollars of higher crop yield and cop a $60k fine. The additional crop yield should be paid back as it is proceeds of crime but ignored.
The analysis of the Australia Institute regarding striking inequality all lead back to the destructive policies of John Howard, our worst prime minister
What a sad situation we face. All sides of the Australian government are silent on mass murder, torture, rape and many more crimes and war crimes being committed by a foreign country. Human rights mean nothing in the face of money, intimidation and influence.
How on gods earth is the use of 2000 pound bombs on a tent city of refugees responsible, ethical, targeted or proportionate? It is not. It is simply criminal.
So just remember this people… Australia uses more Gas packing the gas for export than the entire manufacturing industry does… gas shortage😂 no just a leadership shortage 🙄
Australia's gas shortage? - more of it is used to convert natural gas to LNG to be exported than is used by the entire Australian manufacturing industry.
From Dorte on my Facebook Page
"Held to ransom:" Damning report shows gas cartel is controlling prices, withdrawing domestic supply and has been operating as a cartel to boost prices over that last 5 years. Why give them $12 when $7 is fair?
One can only conclude that the USA is now a sicking virus that Australia and many allies will need to positively distance themselves from if they want to avoid the same serious illnesses . Let me explain why 1/6
I suggest you all read this report. Another authority completely captured receiving 90% of their funding from the companies they regulate. Broken to the core taking over 20 years to review key chemicals
Just to be clear… no fossil fuel company made their investment decision on the basis that there would be a war with Russia that would drive fossil fuel prices through the roof. All the excess prices they are receiving are windfall unexpected war gains.
When will ethics at ABC improve. On RN this morning they keep going on claiming Australia has an “energy shortage”. This is misleading and dishonest. Australia has an “uncontracted energy shortage”… as we have no domestic reservation system as a result of failed leadership.
You have to love the Battery tech race on at the moment. Sodium batteries seems to be about to blow the pants off lithium and high density low weight batteries are making one’s assumption about hydrogen for many uses questionable. It is so good to see!
Lowest prices are not just the beginning! Cancer and contamination come for free.
Only a greedy uncaring company would sell a product that has cadmium lead and mercury added as it is a cheap way to dispose of toxic waste
This war makes me sick. Australia was a strong country that stood up for fairness, the rule of law and for those suffering from bullies. It was respected as a middle power, speaking truth to all. No leadership in our political ranks anywhere these days.
If anyone needed another reason to abandon any hope for the Liberal party redeeming itself you can forget it. Their threat to ignore the ICC and disregard international law is appalling
Anyone surprised? Australian Fossil Fuels Giants Severely Underestimate Methane Leaks so what happens to them? Nothing I assume! Perhaps donate more to political parties?
Well done Patricia on RN… the gas cap applies to ONLY 5% of gas produced in Australia. The Gas industry is just whining for no reason. There should actually be a war super tax on 100% of gas sold above a cap.. that would be better.
@RNBreakfast
About to take train from Sydney to Canberra. Hoping for a low carbon alternative where you could work.. just 4 hours… but no seat power or flat tables even in first…
@Matt_KeanMP
really how can people make the right decision when governments act like 🦕s
I do hope that the Australian Government has got on top of medicine supplies as with China going covid red we know supply will be tight. The new govt has had plenty of time to build stocks until we have supply ourselves.
You know it is quit pathetic that we have a diesel fuel rebate when the actually using electric trucks is cheaper. This is an electric semi available now. If you want road trains I have then also!
How sad was it to listen to RN this morning where the presenter questioned repeatedly if Isreal was blocking aid and then concluded that it was perhaps the aid agencies fault for not delivering aid.
Isreal controls all borders and is blocking the sea.
Where the hell is a single Teal independent on this issue? Don’t they care for human rights, international law or just basic human life? What do we have then for if this is how they act? They have a responsibility to express the concern of ALL sectors of the community.
How can the U.S. condemn Russia’s bombing of civilians in Ukraine as a war crime but fund Netanyahu’s war machine, which has killed thousands?
How can we criticize the human rights of Iran & China, but ignore the human rights of the Palestinian people?
The USA is trashing its own judicial system. Failing to address contempt of court vomited by Trump undermines the judicial systems everywhere. The claims of corruption in the judiciary gets echoed overseas. Contempt of the US legal system is contempt of the Australian system. 2/6
Anyone understand why a government that claims to base decisions on science would tell people they can go back to work after 5 days of covid even if they have a positive rat test?
What a depressing day. It seems Albo has lost the plot. The liberals are far right nut cases. The new Center must be formed as the Independents have proven themselves incapable of standing up for basic humans rights… fear full of the Zionist bullies. We need real people now.
The USA is trashing international laws. Their willingness to flaunt international law started with simple changes to definitions like “ battlefield detainees” to avoid the Geneva convention has now reached extreme levels where all international laws have been shredded. 3/6
The government is proposing to “compensate” coal companies for the war profits that won’t get due to the price cap of domestically used coal…I hope
@DavidPocock
splits the Bill. Cap now… compensation we will discuss next year.
Yes that is another classic. To get rid of drilling waste mud with toxic fracking chemicals you blend it into soil so it is contaminated but not contaminated enough to breach an arbitrary limit and sell it in compost and soil. People like Santos giggle at that.
@Integritynow2
There needs to be a national inquiry into what is going into fertilisers & compost. Potentially toxic coal seam gas drilling muds are now classed as a 'resource' as opposed to waste, thanks to Qld Govt End of Waste Code. They are being allowed in compost with very little scrutiny
@AgedMatters
This issue has been known about and reported to the AEC and VEC election after election. They don’t do anything. Actually they make it worse as they claim in mobile centres they will make independent materials “available” oh BUT ONLY if asked by the voter!
You have to love the Liberals screaming that ALPs policies are driving inflation and then claiming that the biggest national handout that grows inequity, being the Stage 3 tax cuts, remain critical! When will the ALP just scrap them? Soon I hope.
Our PM should take up the threat by the gas companies about blackouts and just put a super profits tax on 100% of their production. At threat to the PM and the government is a threat and attempt to bully all Australians. Will our PM stand up for us and smack the bully?
Let’s see if with the guests on RN this morning can explain 1) how the gas prices sets the electricity price 2) how the domestic gas prices is set now by the international price and 3) that is a governments choice therefore what our domestic electric price will be
@RNBreakfast
Always interesting to look at Australia’s role in the shape of the middle east where over 1500 Australians died in battles to “liberate” Palestine and provide Arabs with self government… which was a lie given the existing secret Sykes-Picot agreement etc.
On RN Barney Joyce summarises what is wrong with the LNP. Integrity doesn’t matter. As a far as he is concerned if not “ illegal” then everything is fine.
Ah yes that AFP again. I don’t know a police force with such an poor reputation. I can’t understand how the residents of Canberra don’t demand a complete overhaul of this mob. I feel sorry for the few good cops in that place.
Stop publishing the private contents of my phone.
I entrusted police with my private information for the sole purpose that it could aid their investigation into my sexual assault, nothing else. (3/3)
Can you imagine having someone turnoff water to Australia and then as they also turned off the power every one in a hospital ICU will die tomorrow as they have no diesel… all because some toxic gross group controls your country that you can’t get rid of?
Seems only yesterday I sat in a pub with Mon for her first interview since KIG put the add in the paper. She asked if I really thought a win was possible and I explained the numbers and the need for a great female candidate to pull it off. What a top campaign! Amazing result.
Was in Sydney this week..
Lawyers are being run off their feet as fossil fuel industries move to buy up all the land and cheap credits they can so they have to do nothing real to “reduce” their emissions. It is a joke. Make them put their emission back in the ground.
Bit of a test here. The Teals and Greens have been denied reasonable time and access to documents to consider the gas bill. Same game as the Liberal played. Will they stand up for communities and make the cap $7 or $8 where they have analysis or get walked on?
Petition to Boroondara Council to have renewable-powered electric heat pumps, not fossil gas, at the new Kew Recreation Centre. Why is the council wasting money with Fossils?
This story is complete fiction. Out of respect for the 100s of supporters who signed up to be part of the Teal army in Kooyong in 2019 when she was aqua blue I will try to correct it with a string of tweets.
Electric car adoption in Australia will exceed expectations because people will work out that with the right car charger they can divert any solar that was going to the grid to their car instead making driving almost free. Massive benefit.
@helenhainesindi
We now have a commission that is currently failing to meet its own statutory obligations. Already the NACC has been asked to investigate itself for failing to respond within one year to genuine complaints of corruption. 🧐
Roof top solar rules! The car charges from the solar panels. The grid doesn’t get hammered and I get free driving rather than zero for exporting power. In 5 years most homes with large solar systems will have EVs …it is coming. Fuel security and resilience
So for all the BS on claiming this and that including by marketing firms the truth is that the Teal name is coined back in 2019 in Kooyong and was just the humble name of the correct colour that we have a hell of a time to get right… and no one could spell or say turquoise
@DavidPocock
@Vikkik88
Documents presented to Members by lobbyists should also be lodged with the Parliament library and available to the public so we know what diet of spin they are being prescribed.
The US has gone mad and lost its moral compass. Australia as a friend needs to call it out. Link together with smaller countries. End the navel blockade of Gaza and together demand International law is respected all the time and not just when the US finds it convenient.
It is quite amazing we need Greta to speak for us. What happened to corporate leadership? Why are our corporate leaders making millions silent? Silent corporate culprits.
Morrison government's record spend on advertising. They would have to go down as the most deeply corrupt government Australia has had the misfortune of having. Don’t care for precedent, process, procedure or principles.
Job No1 for new NSW government is to immediately reverse relaxes gas leak reporting requirements for coal seam gas industry.
Job No 2. Report on how these changes occurred.Who lobbied who and what analysis was done independently, paid for by whom.
It is a nice diagram showing how the safest seat in Victoria could be turned in just two teal campaigns. It is a reminder to all Politicians. Your seat is now never safe if you don’t respect your electorate. Communities can come together and they can create change
Yep, the ABC is proving it is controlled like so many media outlets.
The morning news fails to even mention that a certain national government has been found to have engaged in war crimes including extermination by the UN. So typical.
Human Rights mean nothing to the ABC.
@MrRexPatrick
I assumed that now you can get Morrison diary as it is required to kept by the national archives act. Having Albos released just creates a precedent you should be able to use to go get Morrison’s diary now.
So next questions. If Australia can help the US and UK bomb Yemen why can’t they help our closest neighbour Indonesia get a hospital ship to Gaza?
Great joint exercise for Australia and Indonesia to get the job done. I think all Australians and Indonesians would be proud.
The idea that you stay as a minister when you believe something is wrong for “ cabinet solidarity” is rubbish. You do it as you like the power and 200k extra you earn being a minister and you would rather that than acting with integrity and resigning.
🧵
It’s probably time for a bit of plain talking - in the public interest.
Let's talk about the $18+ million of public money Scott Morrison was planning on handing over this year for something called the Australian Future Leaders Program.

@jommy_tee
Doctors to prescribe Tasmanian salmon for infection after Tassal used 368.5 kilograms of an antibiotic last year in fish food. TGA should regulate Tassie salmon 😂
So here we go. We have gas legislation with an absurdly high price of $12 and now coal compensation.
This is like watching the fossil cartel undertake a ram raid on the wallets of manufacturers and citizens in a car driven by the Government
#auspol
@scottmccampbell
In the face of such death in Gaza I am sure plenty of decent people would risk their lives to try again. The international spot light it very bright and anyone helping has the endorsement of the ICJ ruling
Can you imagine being the leader of a country the choofs on about Human right in China and west Papua and is silent as 13,500 children are blown to bits and over one million people are being starved by a military blockade and thinking you will be taken seriously ever again.
So Australia justified participating in bombing Yemen to uphold the international law of the sea… but they are silent on upholding international law and findings of the ICC
Now the Liberals are dreaming up an excuse for their own behaviour to explain why the party is corrupt, infested with extremism , totally unrepresentative and consistently promoting policies that divide the nation and create inequality.
Robo debt is just like the cockroach in the cupboard. There is always more than one. List the example of Government activity that need full investigation.
@helenhainesindi
@3wombats
This is most likely the most important piece of Legislation this Parliament will pass. If you can’t trust your leaders then our nation is dead. Make it work well, fairly and avoid destroying the innocents in the process.
So many people seem to have a problem with basic maths. 4 innocent civilians saved and 250 innocent civilians killed plus many more injured. You obviously value some innocent lives more than other innocent lives. So basically you reject human rights.
First time in a month I have watched this and it just makes me sick. No wonder the world can’t address climate change. It can’t even deal with a thug in a small country who is engaging in ethnic cleanzing. The world is run by money as the people are stupid.
The Government must immediately require CSG companies to carry long term insurance for damage to farms.
No insurance no Gas. Since when can anyone damage someone’s property with impunity.
Can anyone explain how an “ offset” is achieved by growing some plants that can be bulldozed in 25 years? Don’t people remember that to make Carbon look cheap for the ERF Liberals cut the duration of projects to 25 ? Original projects had a permanency obligation of 125 years
The great economic managers strike again. 🤯
Originally billed as a $1.7 billion savings measure, the scheme ended up costing the public more than $1.8 billion
@simonahac
For years of knowingly publishing Climate change denial info to gain financial advantage from fossil fuel advertisers? $965million would be the rounding error.
@LucyTurnbull_AO
@WllmNewell
@KenWyattAM
Join the very long list of Liberals who had to resign as the party is so out of touch with key matters like this, climate change, gender equality, corruption, integrity and on it goes.
The role of the “Independent” is to represent, raise and discuss issues members of their electorate want discussed. Praise or criticism of those views helps the community understand. These views might not be their own views. They are simply the agent of the community.
Got to love how our monetary system is being used to cripple the demand coming from mortgage holders while the budgetary system is putting money into the pockets of the highest income earners.
@simonahac
@DonnaDwe90525
@PhilWilliamsABC
I was there waiting also. Anyway let’s be positive and change something. Let’s make sure the EPA no longer approves new or expansions to any petrol stations unless that have the same number of recharge units as bowsers. Can’t expect fossil fuel companies to do it.
ACCC could perhaps calculate the time it takes Banks to increase interest rates compared with the time to reduce rates when the RBA changes rates. That difference is an abuse of consumers.
9pm. The Greens and Teals have been denied the ACCC report which is the basis of the claim that $12 is reasonable. They have only one report that says $7 is reasonable and fair and $12 is wrong. How can they do anything but offer to pass the bill with $7 or reject it
@RNBreakfast
