BREAKING: Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer will go head-to-head in a TV debate at 9pm on June 4, ITV has announced.
It comes after reports that Labour 'demanded' that the SNP and other small parties be blocked from participating.
Story to follow.
Colin Mackay STV news: "Shouldn't the decision whether or not Scotland should be independent be in the hands of the Scottish people?"
Keir Starmer Labour leader: "No"
Well, it seems 2020 has played it's last and final card. My gran passed peacefully tonight. She was an utterly formidable person. Emigrated from Ireland, grew up through the the Clydebank Blitz and raised 4 great kids. Rest in peace Ethel, you were outstanding.
So. Unfortunately today is our last evening with Skye. My best and auldest pal of 16 years. Alas all good things must come to an end, and I will miss her.
The Cass Review:
1. Ignores all evidence in favour of gender affirming care.
2. Effectively bans trans youth from transitioning until 25.
It's an abandonment of duty of care, will force trans youth to acquire their own meds online, and is state sponsored erasure.
The Cass Review must be a watershed moment for the NHSβs gender identity services.
My response for
@UKLabour
underlining our support for the Cass Reviewβs evidence-led recommendations and our determination to put childrenβs health and wellbeing above the political fray ππ»
The level of abuse Humza gets over a change in appointments over just about any other minister, is indicative that Scotland still very much has a racism problem.
The single most consulted piece of legislation in the history of devolution. A bill that received cross party support and the support of 2/3rds of parliament.
This is a democratic outrage and goes to show how much transphobia has been ingrained in the national mindset.
The UK government has decided to block Holyroodβs gender recognition reform bill
The Scottish secretary, Alister Jack is expected to lay a section 35 order at Westminster tomorrow to prevent the legislation being sent to the King for Royal assent
Visiting the HoneyBee Bakery in Glasgow and speaking with Vittoria just highlights on a personal level how much our policies are needed to support small businesses.

"The SNP have no details on an independent Scotland"
That's true if you ignore the Growth Commission, Social Justice and Fairness Commission, Independence in the Modern World paper, Renewing Democracy through Independence paper and A Stronger Economy with Independence Paper.
How does this constitute news?
Allow me to fix the headline for you:
"Labour supporter who stood against the SNP warns he will never vote for the SNP"
Frankly a waste of everyone's time
The Scottish Parliament gift shop is selling replica suffragette sashes while officials simultaneously ban scarves in the same colours from committee rooms. Farce
The discourse surrounding young people going for council is just farcical. The average age of a councillor is 60 and many basically consider the role as a hobby. Local government needs to change and that starts at service level.
I'm honestly a little bit gutted for the state of Scottish politics when a simple basic policy like a bottle return scheme is subject to such hyperbole.
It's not going to wreck the economy. Grow up.
Well, there you go. Unless this ruling is challenged to the Supreme Court, the UK Government can veto any act of the Scottish Parliament they are unhappy with.
Scotland shouldn't have to go to court to advocate for its own legislation and people. This is not normal.
πΊ Nicola Sturgeon repeatedly said that
#IndyRef
was a βonce-in-a-generationβ event.
β Now the
#SNP
are trying to separate the UK by any means possible.
β We said no and we meant it.
Shona Robison is absolutely in her element here. Carefully and respectful dismantling the myths and falsehoods that have been built over the past few years. I'm very happy the bill is finally in parliament.
If you're wondering where the debate on GRR has landed today, Scottish Conservative MSPs have been advocating defunding Women's Aid, Rape Crisis and other life saving women's organisations.
Just because they don't like what they're got to say.
Appreciate that bigger things are happening rn but a wee personal announcement. I've just bought my first home and am now the new proud owner of a tenement. I got extremely lucky landing in this position and having my offer accepted. Looking forward to this next chapter of life.
J.K. Rowling writes powerfully in the Sunday Times today. She is spot on about Nicola Sturgeon.
We fully support
@jk_rowling
on the need to protect womenβs rights.
I would challenge SNP critics of the Bute House Agreement to name a single SNP policy that has suffered as a result. The reality is that it's the best example of components of the Yes Movement working together for the betterment of Scotland.
Pointing out for accuracy that this was a paraphrase of both the question and answer. If you want to watch the Q&A and form your own opinion, feel free.
I've got so many draft tweets about the EHRC's absolute betrayal of trans rights but I simply don't know where to start. There will never be enough characters to convey my anger and disappointment with them as an organisation with a duty of care.
AS, found not guilty
Zoomers: Who are we to question the legal system?
Craig Murray, found guilty
Zoomers: This is an outrage. The legal system is broken and it's Nicola's fault
Those saying that SNP members aren't speaking out about transphobia aren't paying attention. We've been doing it for years now and we'll continue to speak out until something is done.
For the first time in his life Starmer called out transphobia.
Not because he believed it was transphobia or offensive but because it was politically convenient for him to do so.
Utterly shameful statement from Jackie Ballie. The SNP got backing from all parties including Labour who whipped, albeit half heartedly, their MSPs.
It's pathetic they failed to oppose the section 35 and have all but withdrawn their support for the bill.
Once again, full solidarity with Karen here. One of the absolute best of parliament who's never shied away from the difficult conversations or the need to defend vulnerable people.
βThis is fucking excruciating.β
βHe is a fucking clown.β
Nicola Sturgeon WhatsApps her closest advisor during Boris Johnsonβs address to the nation during the second lockdown in Oct 2020.
This is so disappointing from PDG.
Total WFH or office working is the worst of both worlds. It's really important that the option is provided to suit everyone. Again, this is petty partisan point scoring using public sector workers. Just let us work.
Hybrid working is important. But so is ensuring that every penny spent, benefits the public.
Spending a lot of money on a building thatβs not being used to full effect, isnβt doing that.
Ministers must look again at the budget and get control of it.
Not sharing the article but just saw a herald headline:
Conversion therapy Scotland: Warning plan 'would criminalise parents'
Maybe, just maybe, parents who torture their kids should kinda be criminalized.
Great to have

Skye here, 15 and a half years old, just got back from the vet with a clean bill of health. Nice wee Christmas present knowing she'll be around a while longer.
Pretty horrific speech by Regan citing a mother who refuses to support her trans kid and regularly misgenders and deadnames him. Really worrying implications for the trans person who's just had all agency taken from them.
@EHRC
This is deeply insulting and intentionally misconstrues the situation. Two, well publicised consultations have been held, and they will be listened to and acted on.
Couple of things on this
1. Cameron should resign and call the by election she threatened. East Kilbride did not choose a Tory MP.
2. This is a result of the ineffectual vetting processes who approved Cameron to be a candidate, consistently.
A few days before SNP conference⦠MP quits and joins Conservatives. Lisa Cameron faced losing selection battle this week. But uncomfortable backdrop for party trying to regroup after by-election loss in Rutherglen.
Even if there is one passenger an hour, this needs to be maintained. As a former night worker the worst thing to worry about was how I was getting home each night. Reform it, don't scrap it.
First Bus has announced it's withdrawing night bus services in Glasgow from July 31st, after just over a year of operation.
The firm says services have been running at a significant loss, regularly operating with as few as 14 passengers per hour.
Just a note before the count begins tomorrow. There's going to be a large number of staffers dependent on their MSP being returned to stay employed. While it's always ok to celebrate, just remember that folks livelihoods are at risk and try to avoid being awful.
As promised,
@HumzaYousaf
is standing up for Scottish democracy and for our trans community.
We should never have been put in this situation but it's one we'll fight regardless.
This legislation was passed with the overwhelming support of the Scottish Parliament, and with support from all parties.
@HumzaYousaf
and
@theSNP
are standing up for trans rights and Scotland's democracy against transphobia and Westminster's power grab.
Hey guys, did you hear? Homophobia and bigotry has been solved since 2010 and nobody needs to worry or be concerned about it ever again. Especially not regarding first minister candidates who don't think you should exist.
Thank goodness for that.
Full solidarity with the staff at The Stand.
No one should be forced to work with or promote an event that promotes discrimination.
No one is entitled to a platform.
Freedom of speech doesn't mean everyone needs to listen to or promote you.
A statement regarding Joanna Cherryβs participation in The Standβs Edinburgh Fringe programme, which will no longer go ahead. For more on this, please visit:
I can't actually distinguish between the politics of David Cameron and the politics of Keir Starmer. The state of UK politics has become so pitiful and it's depressing to see Anas Sarwar defend it.
NEW: Anas Sarwar has said that 'some of the criticisms' labelled at Keir Starmer are 'unfair'.
He stressed that Labour are still a 'broad church underpinned by left and left-of-centre politics' π€
This is just pitiful. A spectacular failure, a paralysed parliament and lame duck of a PM. We deserve better.
Theresa must go.
Brexit must be cancelled.
Scotland must be independent.
Jeane Freeman took on one of the most difficult jobs in one of the hardest times and put in one hell of a shift for the NHS, Social Security, and Scotland. A very hard act to follow and we owe her a huge debt of gratitude.
I have informed my local Constituency Association tonight that I will not be seeking re-selection for the next Scottish Parliament election in May 2021.
If you gave money to wings for "great political analysis that will win independence" then you've been had and you've contributed to the demonisation and discrimination of a community. If you share his content then you are part of the problem. Stop it.
Kate Forbes has made some outstanding history today. In the face of crisis she stepped up to the plate and become the first woman to the deliver a budget in the history of the Scottish Parliament. A masterclass of leadership and resilience.
Joanna Cherry has said she 'cannot understand' why the Scottish Government is taking Westminster to court over its veto of Scotlandβs gender legislation
@AnnieWellsMSP
You're former boss shows more respect and compassion to your colleagues than you do. Is this genuinely how you want to start the term? Pissing on young, new, working class MSPs?
Somehow, I don't think attacking and trying to defund yet another LGBTQ+ organisation for exercising free speech is a particularly good look when you're trying to also pretend that you're not a transphobe.
If you're going to honestly believe that celebrating your team winning is more appropriate and important than stopping a deportation, then I honestly don't have anything to say to you.
Nicola is simply the best there is and will be for some time. I'm devastated. No politician has had a greater impact on my life than Nicola Sturgeon.
Principled, kind, and a champion of Scotland.
Weirdest attack line I've seen in a long time. Yesterday Humza was in Hamilton for its first ever Pride. There are lots of nice things about Hamilton however a "tourist spot" it is not.
Pretty shameful most broadcasters have refused to cover Edinburgh pride despite the FM and reps from multiple parties standing in support and solidarity with the entire LGBTQ community yet when a billionaire writes a column, that somehow constitutes national news
