Let's talk about mandates:
@NicolaSturgeon
has won a higher share of the vote than Tony Blair's first landslide, and Boris Johnson's victory in England in 2019.
Exclusive poll by
@Channel4News
:
Would you vote SNP at the next GE if a victory for them could lead to Scotland leaving the UK?
✅ Yes - 50%
❌ No - 33%
Great starting position.
That a UK Government with just six MPs in Scotland can block the overwhelming democratic will of the Scottish Parliament in an entirely devolved area should wake some folk up as to how the UK actually works.
Scottish Secretary says UKgov is using a S35 order to block a Holyrood bill (for the first time) due to concerns that the gender reforms would have “an adverse impact on the operation of Great Britain-wide equalities legislation”
“I’m a democrat.” Says Liz Truss as she forces the Scottish Government to go to court to secure the right of the people to choose their own future.

Glenn Campbell: “Is this you formally starting the campaign for IndyRef2?”
@NicolaSturgeon
“Yes.”
Clear as can be. The referendum is coming and it’s time to persuade our peers that independence is the best future for our country.
The SNP doesn’t want ‘slightly more powers for Scotland’.
We want *all the powers* here in Scotland, so we can transform lives and build a better country.
You get that with independence, not tinkering at the edges of the Westminster system.
I want to thank the voters of Monifieth and Sidlaw for electing me to represent them for the next five years.
It’s time for change here in Angus, and I can’t wait to get started.
Wonder what attracted the incoming Labour Government to a speaker who was willing to bend Parliamentary rules to suit their political interests?
A real mystery.
Boris Johnson has just said the SNP should be focused on tackling crime. It’s thanks to
@theSNP
that crime has plummeted and is at nearly record lows in Scotland.

Gaelic is an integral part of Scotland and our culture, and every measure possible should be taken to promote, protect and expand its role in society.
If that makes absolute roasters angry, so be it.
Cost for one vial of insulin:
🇦🇺: $6.94
🇬🇧: $7.52
🇫🇷: $9.08
🇩🇪: $11
🇨🇦: $12
🇯🇵: $14.40
🇺🇸: $98.70
No one should be forced to take out their wallets for insulin – a life-saving drug that was invented nearly 100 years ago. It's time to end the greed of the pharmaceutical industry.
❌ Scotland hasn’t voted Tory at any of the last 10 general elections - but we’ve got a Tory Government at 7 of them.
🏴 With independence, we will always get the government we vote for.
Dreadful that Scotland is having to wait for 358 Tory MPs to topple Boris Johnson.
We've not voted Tory for 70 years, & at 7 of the last 10 General Elections we've been stuck with a Tory Government we've rejected.
Independence is a permanent end to Tory Govts we don't vote for.
🔍 More Labour MPs voted against this than Tory ones.
🗳️ A vote for Labour this year will be taken as a blank cheque to deny Scotland’s democracy.
🏴 Vote SNP to take Scotland forward to independence.
BREAKING: MPs have voted down an attempt to introduce a law to transfer power to hold a Scottish independence referendum to the Scottish Parliament.
48 MPs voted in favour, while 228 voted against.
👇 If
@theSNP
members back a candidate who doesn’t believe in the progress we have made on LGBT+ rights, we will lose the trust of a generation of voters - and we will deserve to.
💛 We must continue to fight for equality, respect and fairness for all.
🏴 SNP leadership contender Kate Forbes has said that she would have voted against gay marriage "as a matter of conscience".
Forbes has also said she does not support gender self-identification.
👏 Did you like what
@StephenFlynnSNP
had to say tonight?
🗳️ Make sure he can continue to put Scotland’s interests first -

My wee grandma passed away today at 82. She’s been one of the biggest influences on my life, and I’ll never stop admiring her.
She’s done a whole lot: working as an immigrant in Wall Street, moving to Canada and back, and meeting my grandad who she married for 56 years.
Had a wee look on a young Tory's Twitter page (not advisable). Every single tweet was about the SNP.
Not one Tory policy. Not one Tory idea. Just anti-SNP rubbish.
7 years ago today,
@NicolaSturgeon
became Scotland’s First Minister.
7 years of inspirational leadership, delivering transformational and progressive policies that benefit all of us.
Let this image haunt Scottish Labour forever.
The moment they can “stand up for Scotland”, they line up behind Keir Starmer to keep thousands of bairns in poverty.
Some change.

Absolute 2am thoughts but:
I get paid £6.45 an hour for my job.
My workmate gets *£8.72* an hour (he’s over 25).
I don’t get a discount on fuel or car parts due to my age.
The minimum wage is unfit for purpose.
Appalling. These people aren’t serious about tackling child poverty.
We warned about this throughout the election campaign.
Yet again, John Swinney has been proven correct.
'I accept people are frustrated'
Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner told
#BBCBreakfast
the Government will not make changes in the King's Speech to the two child benefit cap
It is an absolute disgrace that the U.K. Govt is having companies move out of Scotland - meaning hundreds lose their jobs. It’s almost as if they’re harmfully stripping Scotland of any assets in preparation for something like, I don’t know,
#IndyRef2
?
Interesting part of that
@OpiniumResearch
poll today.
Who would be the best First Minister of Scotland?:
Nicola Sturgeon: 50%
Douglas Ross: 12%
Anas Sarwar: 10%
None of these: 15%
Don't know: 13%
Don't know and none of these outpoll both Sarwar and Ross.
I’m happy to confirm that I’ll be seeking the nomination of Monifieth and Sidlaw
@theSNP
branches to be a candidate in our ward.
I want to use my extensive experience of campaigning, as well as my track record of supporting residents, to win here and deliver for our ward. (1/2)
🔍 Scottish students have three times less student debt than students in England.
💷 Figures have shown that Scottish graduates are almost £30,000 better off.

@theSNP
Government abolished tuition fees -education in Scotland is based on ability to learn, not ability to pay.

“Nicola Sturgeon is the head girl of the Old Boys’ Club that surrounds Alex Salmond.
“If she had properly dealt with their behaviour maybe she wouldn’t be in this mess.”
Seeing FM
@NicolaSturgeon
being cheered by hundreds of thousands of people in London warms my heart greatly. Here in Scotland we have a leader capable of inspiring people, who is caring, and above all else, competent at her job - unlike the cabal of incompetence at Westminster.
📊
@NicolaSturgeon
received the biggest popular mandate any First Minister has ever had - and a higher % than any Prime Minister in 50 years.
🏴 The SNP has the mandate and the authority to deliver on everything in its manifesto - including a new independence referendum.
🔍 Scotland got one mention while Keir Starmer was on the
#BattleForNo10
this evening.
❓ Was it by him?
👀 Nope - by a member of the audience praising
@theSNP
Scottish Government’s record on fair pay for the NHS.

🚏 Nearly a million young people will be able to travel anywhere in Scotland on a bus for free at the end of January.
🏴 That’s

for Scotland.
The difference between Labour and
@theSNP
is this:
We’re putting forward pledges that are deliverable, & have a record of cutting the cost of living for Scots.
Labour are selling policies that Councils don’t have the power to deliver.
Don’t fall for it.

Independence isn’t about the SNP it’s about building a better nation. If left-wing Indy supporters don’t like the SNP’s plan for an Indy Scotland that’s ok because we can change governments in an Indy country. If we stay in the Union we’ll lose the Scottish Parliament.
#IndyRef2
Labour candidate at tonight’s hustings in Broughty Ferry had absolutely nothing to say on GB Energy (despite bringing it up herself) when asked for clarity about the plans…
Couldn’t say if it was an energy generation company, or an investment vehicle, or anything else.
I must say,
@theSNP
are truly the party for young people; the Baby Box, free childcare, fantastic education, free tuition, and now a scheme to help young buyers get with their house deposits. I and many hundreds of thousands across Scotland are grateful!
📊 In May,
@theSNP
won with the highest share of the constituency vote in the history of the Scottish Parliament.
🔍 Worth reflecting on such an enormous electoral achievement - especially after 14 years in office.
Just been blocked by a Labour supporter for pointing out to him that the Scottish Parliament doesn’t have very much power over welfare. Clearly Unionists won’t let the facts get in the way of a

Troops on the streets. Food and medical shortages. Massive damage to the economy. Billions of pounds wasted. A worthless currency. The Scottish Parliament stripped and silenced.
Is this what was promised in 2014?
Nope.
Time for Independence.
Westminster decisions mean Scotland’s budget is worth so much less than before.
Scotland is ill-served by this failing UK economic model.
We need independence to build a fairer, wealthier nation.
BREAKING: John Swinney has said he will need to make hundreds of millions of pounds of cuts to Scotland's Budget this year.
The First Minister said he had been left with 'no choice' but to balance the books by cutting services by at least £250 million.
📺 The Tories shamefully tried to lay the Council's current financial crisis at the feet of the Scottish Government.
📈 Tory economic policy is hammering Angus Council's finances, and plunging families and children into poverty.
👇 How can they possibly defend that?
