If you like your technical stuff with a lot of memes, a dose of existential crisis, and possibly Rickrolling, my talk about Prometheus architecture from DevOpsDays 2023 is out!
Love how Bangalore has dedicated road sections for everyone. Cars can drive on roads, bikes can drive on pavements, and pedestrians can go kill themselves 🥰
- Be me
- Go to airport early to mitigate potential delays
- Arrive at empty check-in counter
- Be told check-in will start at specified time
Will my early advantage be eliminated? Will I still be frustrated by long lines?
Find out, on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z!

Looking for my first job as a software dev.
Have worked on few OSS projects like
@Linkerd
&
@buildpacks_io
.
I've mostly written Go. More than happy to work with other tech.
Resume:
Please RT for karma 🙏
Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as an engineering manager
Upon a d̵i̵g̵i̵t̵a̵l̵ metric ocean.
Metrics, metrics, every where,
And all the bills did spike;
Metrics, metrics, every where,
Not a query to write.
@Bulbagarden
It's after reading the alt text that I realised the Bulbagarden logo is literally Bulbasaur's bulb. Been using Bulbapedia for over 10 years and TIL.
Day 46: Installed Anaconda and started to watch
@freeCodeCamp
's data science video, but it was much more advanced than I expected, so I ended up watching some basic Python videos to better prepare for it later.

I often get asked, "What do you use for monitoring at Last9?"
Well, you can check it out now ✨
We've done a lot of cooking to build this, in the hopes of Making Alerts Great Again. 🧑🍳
R2D1: Started learning Go. My first compiled language, so quite different from Python and JavaScript. Went through some exercises on a Tour of Go.
#100DaysOfCode
#Golang
Day 95: Completed the React calculator project! Had to look at the sample project in the beginning to get some idea, but since then I've managed pretty well. Still some CSS positioning issues, hopefully will be resolved soon.
#100DaysOfCode
#CodeNewbie
#JavaScript
#React
Day 70: Completed Bootstrap, jQuery and Sass exercises on
@freeCodeCamp
and started learning React. Enjoyed jQuery, having slight troubles with the technical terms being used in React, will get better over time.

"Can we get a cheap managed TSDB which will allow us to focus on our product instead?"
"No, we have TSDB at home."
TSDB at home: Multiple stores with multiple engineers and multiple tears.
Don't fall for this. Levitate.

If you've ever used the
@buildpacks_io
pack CLI and wondered "Why does my image say it was created 4 decades ago" like me,
@DFreilich
wrote a short and simple article explaining it! (Best part is the ending 😉)
Day 69: Finally completed Javascript DSA projects. Last one took me a while even after seeing the solution, rounding off numbers was a pain. Started some Bootstrap exercises, but will start again tomorrow properly.

@freeCodeCamp
Had a great time in my first
@Linkerd
community meetup!
ICYMI, here's what happened:
-
@olix0r
described the roadmap to Linkerd v2.11
-
@ChrsCmpbl
&
@dndggn
described their journey at HP of migrating monolith to microservices and how they used linkerd
(1/n)
🚨 Live in one hour! Join the Linkerd community meetup to hear from
@ChrsCmpbl
and
@dndggn
about HP’s Linkerd journey, and
@charpretz
@olix0r
@wm
about the latest on Linkerd 2.11 and this month's Linkerd Hero.
Day 32: No progress wrt coding, but cleared up some misconceptions about how to use the Twitter API (and APIs in general) and how I should begin my project. Hopefully will have some code up and running by tomorrow.

Day 89: Not a great day. Could only do part 1 of
#AdventOfCode
day 14, didn't even understand part 2. Part 2 of day 13 still remains incomplete. I'm starting to think I might not get it all done after all 😪

Day 12: Did some more applied visual design via
@freeCodeCamp
. Realised that I'm learning quite a lot of things that I'm unlikely to use by myself very soon, which will lead to a lot of forgetting... (1/2)

Day 35: Made some improvements to my Twitter application code, which is intended to add links from liked tweets to Pocket. Think I've done the Twitter part. Hope the Pocket part will get done tomorrow.

Woohoo! 👨💻 Thanks a lot to the awesome folks at
@Linkerd
for this, my contributions wouldn't have been possible without the support of the amazing community 🙌💚
Gotta get ahead of the posts tomorrow, so here are my 7 (Thala for a reason) life lessons from
#RCBvsCSK
on
@thinkdeli
.
This is absolutely serious with no intended jokes so pls take this seriously ok thanks
Day 58: Completed JavaScript regex exercises on
@freeCodeCamp
. Quite a few of them messed with my head, so I couldn't get in as much work as I expected today.
#100DaysOfCode

Day 47: Tried to port a Chrome extension to Firefox, but it had a lot of JS and JSON, and from what I could tell from the JSON, it won't be possible for cross-platform compatibility. Watched a basic statistics video. Also figured out my GitHub workflow.
#100DaysOfCode

Day 75: Did some modifications to yesterday's project's CSS, but I couldn't add the change-color-on-click feature, because apparently you can't use jQuery and React together, and to do it via React I'd have to rewrite my components. (1/2)

Without strong policy rules for nomenclature, and verbiage around observable 'entities', your war rooms are perpetually going to be chaotic.
@aniket_rao
on the importance of 'boring' in the world of SRE 👇
Day 30: Another day of learning Flask from a tutorial. Getting slow and disinterested now. Any tips on how to stay active and motivated?

I'm publicly committing to round 2 of the 100DaysOfCode Challenge starting today!
My goals:
- Get a good grasp of Go
- Write blogs (at least 2/week)
- Contribute to open source
- Start a project
@ka11away
#100DaysOfCode
Day 94: Some progress on my calculator project. Have to figure out how to input new numbers and evaluate expressions, but so far it's better than the last project!
#100DaysOfCode
#CodeNewbie
#React
#javascript
Day 61: Completed JavaScript object oriented programming on
@freeCodeCamp
. Didn't make notes for a topic that seems will definitely be used, so I have a feeling I'll be returning to those exercises sooner than later. 😂

Periodic PSA, MAY sound strong, but truth is!
- Managing community != DevRel/DevAdvocacy
- DevRel is not less technical. In fact you need to wear engineering + product hat
- Writing blogs is way harder than writing code
Day 27: Started learning some Flask. For now, the plan is to try out some different things and see if anything piques my interest, will go on from there.
