To celebrate the new year, Association of Husband Material of Odual, held their annual Onunu hangout at Obedum community in Abua/Odual LGA, Rivers State.
Professor Kay Williamson voluntarily took up Ijaw citizenship and selected Kaiama as her place of origin. She died in England on the 3rd of January, 2005 and was buried in Kaiama on the 26th of March, 2005 with full ljaw Traditional Honours.

An Ijaw man from Twon brass, Bayelsa State, named Tari Ibruku but fondly called "Lets Go" has built a water bicycle
He test ran it few days ago and it's actually working very good
Tari said it took him 4 months to build it.
He served as the primary photographer for the British and his own people in the early 1890s.
He was also responsible for the now very famous photograph of Oba Ovonramwen of Benin and many other iconic colonial era historical pictures we see today.
