I finally get to announce!
I will be working fulltime as an esports observer for the Overwatch League!
Starting the 9th, I’m super honored to be part of the team for the rest of playoffs and for the 2020 season.
I hope to make you all proud and thank you for the support!
An important reminder that trans people belong in esports.
Some transphobic assholes calling us “monkeys” and “animals” during an OWWC stream isn’t going to change that
Trans people are your casters, observers, production, players. We’re not going anywhere.
I cannot stress how important a top notch observer team is, and the f0rsaken ace from Split R4 of EDG/PRX during
#ValorantMasters
shows why.
Forsaken's ace could have easily been missed - but it wasn't. Here's why.
Here's the play, POV obsed by
@priusOBS
- let's break it down:
I unfortunately am part of the ABE layoffs and am looking for observing, editing, production, and broadcast-related opportunities.
You can take a look at all my work here:
Hyped to announce that I have accepted a position as Producer for Riot Games global esports.
Not only will I be able to help tell the esports stories of all of their titles, but I'll also be working to help support observers globally.
I'm very excited to show what I can do!
Happy to announce that I'll be back to observing the Overwatch League 2021 regular season.
While I'm still available to take other opportunities, I'm extremely excited to get back to the game where I began and help show you some fantastic Overwatch!
Hey guys!! New Spectator UI changes in 1.44!!!
- Who is being nano'ed is shown (with a blue pulsing box around the HP bar)
- Who is Discorded is shown
- Who is Resurrected is shown
I will not be part of the observer team for
#OWL2022
To be clear: I was offered a position, but I declined.
I will always be cheering for the OWL obs team. I have full faith that they will make this season the best one yet, and I’m proud to call them my friends. (⅓)
That's it for me as Observer Producer for
#VALORANTMasters
.
Follow the obs ASAP -
@Yehty_
@Tiie44
@priusOBS
@sapphiReGG
, absolutely rocked it and made it look SO easy. Some unforgettable plays being seen thanks to those four.
GGs; next up: MSI! See y'all then!
Hello PSA my pronouns are they/them and *not* she/her
I have been misgendered five days in a row, I would like to not have it be six
I know my voice sounds feminine and I don’t pass, I can’t change that atm even though I really want to
Please just use they/them
Thanks
! BREAKING NEWS !
Excited to say that I've accepted a position at Epic Games to be a contracted Game Capture Artist. I start in September and I'm super excited to take my game capture abilities to the next level.
Thank you for believing in me! I won't let you down!
The trans debate comes up every time a trans person is successful and some transphobe needs more Twitter engagements
Trans women are women, trans men are men, we belong in esports and we’re staying in esports
Hello, I'm Willow!
I'm looking for in-game observing, video editing, and broadcast-related opportunities.
I usually observe FPS/Battle Royale's but I learn quickly and can obs anything!

One of my favorite things from last year was when I spotted someone being transphobic on the TL and saying "thank god there's no trans people in OWL" as I was observer directing the game they were live tweeting.
Trans people belong in esports. Transphobia does not.
A personal highlight of mine from this weekend's Contenders Trials NA broadcasts was this shot. Could have been better, obviously, but I'm glad I managed to keep it mostly in frame!
Hey I just wanted to say, since I got a few messages about it:
Observing is a huge, massive part of the storytelling experience in esports. Please don't be discouraged in pursuing it after what happened today.
You are a massive part of the experience, and please don't give up.
Happy
#TransDayOfVisibility
!!! My name is Willow, I’m trans and non-binary (they/them), I’m an in-game observer and in-game director and I’m not going anywhere 😊
Absolutely fuming at some of the comments I see regarding the latest OWL casting announcements.
Your games are casted, observed, produced, admin'ed, and more by women. They're here, in the space, and they're not going anywhere.
If you don't like that, ✨leave✨
Five years ago today, I tweeted the below and then threw my phone across the car and drove home, terrified that coming out as trans non-binary would ruin my career.
It’s been rough, but it was worth it.
Trans people belong in esports.
💛🤍💜🖤
Really excited to announce that I am a (contract) Producer for
#VALORANTChampions
Incredibly honored to continue to tell the stories of Riot esports that I have been for the last few months, and I’m so hyped to continue for Champs!
I hope to make you proud! See you then!
I’m Observer Producer for VCT Masters Madrid!
SO excited to be in this role, working directly with the global obs to help elevate the viewer experience.
This is a dream come true for me and I’m hyped to show what I can do.
I’ll work as hard as I can!
Got asked this a few times recently so figured I'd just share because it's pride month
If you misgender someone, here's a basic idea of what you should do from a trans/enby person that has had this happen to them (🧵, 1/5)
And it's done.
I'm walking away from this year with mixed feelings. It was an honor to obs for you, and it was an honor to do so with such a stacked obs team.
Thank you for watching, and thank you all for your faith in me. I hope you think it was well placed.
#OWL2021
The obs caught every single kill of this match-winning 4K and even had the timing to catch the contextual death in between
Absolutely fucking cracked obs here holy shit
@Yehty_
@sapphiReGG
@priusOBS
@Synga2k
Really excited to say that I'll be back working with Riot as a Producer (Contract) for
#WORLDS2021
.
It's a massive honor and something I never thought would be possible. I'm hyped to prove myself further and show more of what I can do.
I'll work as hard as I can!
GREAT way to kick off being 29 ☺️
My goal has always been to prove myself. This isn’t job done, but what a great step forward.
Extremely thankful to be on this team, working with the best in the biz and pushing me to be better than I could ever imagine.
LETS GOOOOOO
Excited to announce that I'll be working with Riot as a Producer (Contractor) on VCT Masters 3. So hyped to be part of the storytelling for such an incredible event!
When I first started at Riot, I had decided that it would be my last chance to make working in esports work. I was at the lowest self-confidence I'd ever been.
I cannot express how thankful I am that this team took a chance on me. Now I've got my first Emmy win.
To many more!
Observing is extremely thankless and you really only get noticed when something is missed. No one thanks the observer when you see that ace or that sneaky play live.
Absolutely maddening when people base the 5+ hour observing job on a single, less-than-30-second clip.
Observers are the beating heart of broadcasts. Without them, you don’t have anything to market.
Some OWL and CDL obs have been there since before the start of their leagues. Years of obs knowledge, thrown away.
Fans will feel this loss for YEARS to come.
I don't even have the words to express how angry I am right now.
The observer teams for both OWL and CDL did so much behind the scenes for their leagues, their esports, and their games that many people won't ever know.
I'm devastated.
Someone once didn’t believe that I did esports production and showed me a clip they “saw on Reddit” because “this is what I meant by observing this is what an observer does” and it was my own obs job
(It was an Open Division game with the APEX Nano-Blade transition on KR)
#OWL2018
has live captions available now, that's really really cool. A small detail for many but that's leaps and bounds for accessibility.
#OverwatchLeague
This was a fun little moment in
#OWL2023
#OWLGrandFinals
so I figured I'd break it down since I'm actually well enough to think like an obs again so massive thread about OW observing
(1/10)
A year ago today, I was in my car about to head home from work. I took my phone, made this tweet, then threw it across the car and drove home, fearing the worst backlash from coming out as non-binary in esports.
The response 45 mins later was not what I expected. (Thread, 1/4)
As someone who is non-binary and uses they/them exclusively, I can say from experience that
1) people do in fact use they/them in the singular all the time
2) people who say they don’t are selling something or looking for attention
Transphobia’s got no place here go away
Want to cast Overwatch?
Need VODs to practice with?
Introducing CLEAN FEEDS - a series where it's just in-game observing and game audio of OWL matches and literally nothing else.
More games will be added as they're uploaded. Currently three in queue.
WHAT IS A RUNDOWN?
A rundown is used in broadcasts to have an outline of what happens when in a show. It is used to help keep rhythm/timing.
The picture below is a VERY basic rundown; rundowns are often more complex than this, but this should give you a good feel of it. (1/7)
Super proud to announce that I am now
@EloHellEsports
' Head of Production.
I'll be leading the charge on the broadcast side to help shine a light on the best that T4/T3/T2 has to offer! Super excited for all of our upcoming projects as well, stay tuned.
I'm so, so tired.
Trans men are men.
Trans women are women.
Non-binary people (like me!) are not the gender they "came from."
It's so tiring and honestly upsetting to see so much bs on my timeline regarding this.
As someone who came out as trans while being known in OW (at least amongst obs/prods), living publicly as trans in any esport is a massive emotional burden and sometimes downright scary
But there are some GREAT people in OW that help overshadow all the transphobic bs
Last year, I was sitting in the audience in the Barclay’s Center, thinking that maybe in a few years I would be able to observe / be on the observing team for a Grand Final.
A little early on that goal, but we’re here.
Let’s do this.
#OWL2019
You wanna be a trans ally in esports right now?
1) don’t feed the trolls (dunking on them via screenshots is fine but don’t direct RT it gives them engagement/views)
2) check in on your trans friends/associates/rival/etc
That’s it.

Please remember that the overturning of Roe v Wade affects trans men, non-binary people, and others who do not identify as women.
On top of that, this is only the beginning of rights being taken away from the LGBTQIA+ community in particular.
Extremely excited to announce that I will be observing
@nerdstgamers
' Valorant Summer Championships Open today at 5 PM EDT! Excited to prove myself and show some fantastic games!
Casual reminder that “but you don’t *look* non-binary” is not an excuse to continue to misgender someone when they mention what pronouns they use.
I am aware I do not pass.
I’m still non-binary.
Cut that shit out.
Happy
#TransAwarenessWeek
- when I first came out as trans non-binary, I was convinced I had cost myself a career in esports.
Fast forward three years - I’m a producer for the biggest esports events in the world.
Trans people belong in esports, and we are not going anywhere 🏳️⚧️
It's officially been a year since I started working for Riot.
One year ago, my confidence was at an all-time low. I really thought the layoff was my exit from esports and that I just wasn't good enough.
This job gave me my confidence back -- and a lot more. (1/2)
Re: women in esports
Yes, it would be awesome to see more women in esports. But we’re getting there. More women are involved in media/behind the scenes. There are some kickass female players out there that will get their shot. (1/?)
It’s
#TransDayOfVisibility
!
I’m Willow, I’m trans nonbinary. I’ve worked in esports professionally for five years now.
Trans people play in your favorite esports, produce your shows, obs your games. We’re here. We’re staying.
To you: from spamming my twitter handle here and on Reddit when the OWL Obs position was first announced to celebrating with me whenever I got a gig, the support has been overwhelming.
While this is goodbye for now, I cannot wait to show you what I have coming up next! (4/4)
CLEAN FEED - PRACTICE YOUR CASTING
VODs avail and/or uploading and will be up within the next two hours or so:
- Titans vs Gladiators (Ilios)
- Justice vs Fuel (Volskaya)
- Eternal vs Uprising (Eichenwalde)
- Valiant vs Hunters (Havana)
@owlstatsnet
Hi, former OWL obs here.
Console *controllers* are a better freecam observing experience. Keybinds for swapping between player POVs (usually the F keys but there’s different preferred setups) is the standard. Both are done on PC, the controller is just connected to the PC.
[Freelancer BTW]
After today, I'll be clear to observe anything Overwatch related.
I have exp in all tiers of OW obsing, solo obsing, team obsing.
I've directed, freecam, POV, and replay.
Resume and more here. DM's open.
Long overdue but massively fucking deserved, one of the hardest workers I’ve ever met, incredible at her job and always goes above and beyond.
This is a massive W for OWL
Alright. Game Face: On.
Beyond proud to announce that I am now a *full-time* Replay Observer for the
@overwatchleague
and
@Blizzard_Ent
.
Thank you for believing in me. Let's make
#OWL2022
the best one yet. 🥰
ObsDva reengaging! (ง •̀_•́)ง
A year ago today, I made the flight across the country to be part of OWL. It's only been a year, but it's been a huge step for me and I've learned so much from it.
Thank you for believing in me. I hope to continue to make you proud.

3) Immediately afterwards, say three sentences using the right pronouns in your head. That trick has helped a lot of friends of mine get it right.
Example: "Their name is Willow. That's them over there. They're wearing plaid. Why are they int-ing in my ARAM oh my god stOP-"
