Many first responders are on duty right now, tirelesly preparing and staging for the arrival of

To the anonymous citizen that paid the dinner tab for two of our crews (Engines 2 & 4) at the METRO DINER this evening. We are very thankful for your kind gesture. Everyday we are reminded how wonderful of a community we serve!

This morning HFD Tower 1 will fly an American flag over I-77 NB (at Hambright Rd) in honor of Fallen ATF Agent John Bost as he returns home to Huntersville. Expect minor traffic delays on Hambright, Statesville & Gilead Rds as Police escort his procession.

It’s getting crazy outside, no worries though - we’re over staffed tonight & tomorrow. In this picture you see Engine 1, Rescue 1 & Cut Team 1 (a chainsaw team for downed trees) from Station 1 waiting for the next call. Rest easy, we’re on duty.

Needing some prayers for one of our members & his family. A dedicated, beloved member & a VERY active public servant & his family. Not often we ask for help…we often avoid it. We’re the helpers. But we need your help today.

The ‘new look’ of HFD on a recent medical call for a possible positive COVID patient. Rest assured we’re still on duty & responding to calls; we just look a little ‘different’ now. We’re still the same HFD firefighters & we remain on duty 24/7 for you.

Many ask why we always post to “MOVE OVER” when you approach our scenes. Last night is an example why. Overnight a Flint Hill Fire Engine was struck by a passing tractor trailer as they worked an unrelated MVC on I-77. Miraculously no first responders were injured.

In 2018 we responded to 6,542 calls, a 38% increase over 2017. Our avg response time for ALL calls: 5mins, 49secs. We were out the door in just over 1 min. Total fire loss in 2018 was $1.6 million vs $18 million in 2017. Very proud of our volunteer/members.

Today, an honorary little firefighter, FF James Raugh rides along with us. He always wanted be a firefighter & we were sad to learn of this tragic loss this week, so we add him to our ride today. Rest easy little hero, we have the watch from here.

We count on each other daily and when one of us needs a lift, help, a hug or just a conversation. WE show up. That’s what Jeff would expect from us and that is what we’ll do. We will

Happy to report that the remnants of

have been returned by

A new norm for HFD. This week all members were fit tested with their own issued N95 protective mask. If exposed; they’ll receive an identical replacement mask immediately after. Thankful for

for supporting our request for such protective gear.

Proud of our friends at

Hey Ricky - that’s our job bro; our members are dedicated & committed to our lcommunity. It’s what we do. You don’t have to thank us. We’d love to have him stop by Station 1 where he can learn & share his story & his mission. We will always support your family.

Good Morning! Our new Fire Station 4 (McIlwaine Rd) is coming along nicely. We expect opening in mid to late January 2018 with reserve HFD trucks assigned until our new Engine 4 arrives around April. Engine 4 is currently under construction at Smeal.

We saw something strange in the sky briefly a little while ago. It was really bright, hard to make out - it was soo bright. It was a circle of light & provided warmth briefly before disappearing. Some HFD members believe it could have been: ‘the Sun’?
