A napoleonic Spanish regiment had different companies: 8 fusiliers (line), 1 grenadier (heavy) and 2 jagers (light) So when the first Argentine Jagers were created, they maintained this organization with jagers (light), carabiniers ("heavy light") and voltigeurs ("lighter light")

@felibuster0 There are many provisions mentioning the ponchos. Independendence armies were more professional than the average stereotyped image of the popular movement. The spanish militias in America were highly regulated in equipment and uniform as they were the main defense of the empire
