The EVM was once synonymous with smart contract chains, but this started changing a few years ago. Initially, the outliers doing things differently
The more we research optimizing EVM chains, the clearer it becomes: current EVM L1/L2 designs are outdated, with superior solutions existing for years. It raises questions about why we've settled for suboptimal systems for so long. Likely, EVM's dominance lacked incentives for

Super-scaled "fly farming" EVM L2. No such thing exist. Yet.

What happens if you match Solana vibes, pragmatism, caring about users and solving current problems with EVM talent/TVL/developer ecosystem?
Such a radical idea.
Solana almost-flipping ETH is the bigger story here tbh.
I think that day comes soon, and it'll be a testament to the abundance-mindset of high throughput chains (of which $SOL is king)
To-date, everything has been built with scarcity framework for value.
i do see a small but nonzero chance in the next ~2 years that a giant l2 that achieves extremely high tps at low cost enabling new use cases that it forces solana go modular
@0xsudogm
Wait til you see pipelining + state root computation paralellisation which not only increase the execution time budget, but also increases the root calc budget too!
When you drive down the marginal cost of computing, people will find ways to consume more compute
Eventually a phase shift happens, when the marginal cost of computing is so low that a new way of using computers emerge
This is fundamentally a bet on human ingenuity
I think we'll start playing "There's an L2 for that" to discourage more misguided attempts to repeat a mistakes from the 2020 era--creating new L1s for no reason. Want to implement sharding? There's an L2 for that (

@JJcycles
That's exactly the reason we have to upgrade the EVM! The moment we see a small usage increase, even on L2s, transaction fees spike exponentially.

Say it louder, king! The tradeoff moving from L1 to L2 doesn't make sense if you you only get a marginal improvement by centralizing the sequencer. Go for the extreme performance!
@0xBreadguy
That's exactly the problem, almost all l2 clients are limited by these factors, but most implementations do not address it and do not optimize for these :)
