@tomflood1 When I was 20 I hitchhiked from London to Greece, then flew to Jordan (1985) in September. Dad wrote to me in November with just 4 words: "Write to your mother." No "hi" or "how are you?" I wrote back immediately. His life must have been hell. I was a recalcitrant back then.

Back in hospital. My next post will be shoulder x-rays. Was riding to yoga when a 4WD indicated left then did a u/turn into me, at speed. Didn’t look. Bike is in half, as is something in my right shoulder. Driver said sorry. That makes everything better. Helmet’s undamaged.

@grescoe I assess the make, model and colour of a car when, as a cyclist, I anticipate the future behaviour and direction of a vehicle. Yes, the more expensive cars tend to be more of a danger to a cyclist in Australia. As are the black and the red ones. As well the SUVs and the utes.

A parklette in Amsterdam on a street they just gave a massive ‘road diet’ to, called Weesperstraat. This was week 2 of a 6-week trial. I like it. It takes time for drivers to find alternatives that will save the planet. There was Australian-level resistance from shops etc.

@nexta_tv The Biden administration told EVERYONE who was listening Russia was DEFINITELY going to invade. I heard it. We all heard it. It was in the media every day. Biden was brave and did the right thing. Local Ukrainian authorities didn’t amplify this information for defence reasons.

@Rainmaker1973 @tomflood1 Been there. Loved it. They turned the lights off at 5pm when I was at the deepest as they (almost) forgot I was there. Someone came to the rescue after 5 or 30 minutes (hard to keep track of time in that dark silence). True story.
