I’m thrilled to be elected as a councillor for Abbey Road ward this evening. It’s a huge honour to represent the area of London that I love and is my home.
Elections really are a team effort and I couldn’t have done this without the incredible Conservative volunteers. Thank you!
🗳️ It’s not just the General Election on 4th July - we have a by-election in Abbey Road and I’m delighted to be selected as the Conservative candidate!
@CLWCA
kicked things off today with a brilliant campaign launch and a great turnout.
An honour to be elected as Deputy Chair of
@CLWCA
last night. I can’t wait to work with this team to make sure the brilliant
@twocitiesnickie
is reelected next year
A brilliant eve of poll campaign session with Lord Howard and
@VoteTimBarnes
. 30,000 steps done today and so many positive conversations on the doorstep. Bring on tomorrow!
Since being elected to run the council last May, Westminster Labour have already broken their manifesto pledges and have voted not only to raise council tax but also give themselves a whooping 45per cent pay rise. We were out campaigning this morning to make residents aware
It was brilliant to welcome
@twocitiesnickie
to Abbey Road today - she’s been a strong advocate for Westminster as a local councillor and as MP and I’m delighted to have her support.
Team Abbey Road out this evening and having great conversations. I’ve been talking about safety in the ward and what we can do to clamp down on anti social behaviour

feels like the perfect accompaniment to my morning run up Primrose Hill this morning. What a sunrise (sadly not my dog though)
It was great to join Abbey Road councillors

at the inaugural St John’s Wood Summer Festival hosted by the

The high street was buzzing and it was fantastic to support our local businesses. 🛍️
My first duty as a Councillor was attending the Lord Mayor’s service in Westminster Abbey today.
It was brilliant to celebrate the causes that the Lord Mayor, Robert Rigby, is championing in his role - especially his focus on young people’s health and participation in sport.
I went to meet Zivi, an Abbey Road ward resident who is doing an amazing thing for her street by growing flowers and plants around the trees. She’s brought so much colour and joy to this road and all done with such love and care. A local inspiration!
Fantastic turnout this evening telling voters why me and
@VoteTimBarnes
are the best choices in Abbey Road. Now for a pint in my local in the evening sun!
Far fewer though than the 80,000 Labour released early between 2007-2010.
There were also far more restrictions on release and a governor veto for prisoners who weren’t suitable for early release.
NEW. The statistic the last Government didn’t want you to know before the election:
10,083
That’s the number of prisoners released early between Oct 2023 & June 2024 under the emergency scheme because the Conservatives had failed to provide enough prison places.

Classic Labour trying to claim credit for the hard work of others. A totally baseless claim from her. If she’s bothered to do a quick google, she could have seen all of this was initiated by the Conservative administration!
my book launch last night was just the best. blessed to have amazing friends, family and colleagues from
@Octopus_Books
who helped to bring out “Lost & Found” 🩷 just two days till it’s out!
Astonishing lack of detail in the Labour manifesto around justice. No commitment to building prison places, nothing around planning consent for prisons, and a couple of vague lines about reducing reoffending. It’s almost like they don’t have a plan…
Nickie has been a brilliant and effective MP for Two Cities. It’s been an absolute pleasure to campaign for her over the years and I’m very sorry to see her go. Wishing you all the best
@twocitiesnickie
It has been the greatest honour to have been elected as a public servant for 18 years. However, I will not be seeking re-election.
I remain loyal to the Conservative Party and our Prime Minister, and I will continue to work hard for local people across the Two Cities.
Sunny morning campaigning in Uxbridge for Steve Tuckwell. Residents are deeply concerned about Sadiq Khan’s ULEZ expansion and the closure of Uxbridge police station.

The Rugby Tavern in Bloomsbury is tucked away and has loads of outdoor space. Was a good recent discovery. The Lore of the Land and Marquis of Granby in Fitzrovia both excellent

Completely agree. Normally love Fosters creations but this is definitely tacky and in stark contrast to the mostly elegant buildings that will surround it
@GalMeetsGlam
I'm reading A Little Life which I'd highly recommend. Also, The Gustav Sonata, Where my Heart Used to Beat & The Tobacconist - all excellent
Last night I attended my first full council meeting since being elected. In the news this week there’s been worrying stories about the Chancellor potentially ending the 25% discount on council tax for single person households. 1/2
James Timpson is an excellent appointment. The points he makes are right: politics needs to be taken out of sentencing and when you look at the evidence, community sentences are often far more effective for lower risk offenders. I look forward to seeing what he does in the role
Watch this it’s fascinating - I asked James Timpson what he’d do about prisons and sentencing if he was in charge. He believes only a third of prisoners in jail should definitely be there. He’s now in charge of prisons (but not sentencing).

Thank you Lorraine - you and Melvyn have been brilliant in your support. I feel very lucky to have had such amazing and experienced people helping me along
Yesterday I dropped into the summer BBQ at Ada court and had a wonderful time talking to residents there. My conservative colleagues
@CaroSargent
and
@alanmendoza
have been working to improve security and safety in the building, including increased regular police patrols.
