At approximately 1:30pm, we assisted
@CAStateParks
with a call for a downed aircraft in the ocean, south of Beach Blvd. 1 person was extricated & no serious injuries were reported. We will be on the scene with our partners at CA State Parks for the next several hours.
Fordham IC (Final): The fire burned approximately 62 acres in the Bolsa Chica area South of Warner and East of PCH. Firefighters made a great stop approximately 100 yards from homes in the Brightwater neighborhood.

The horse has been successfully rescued. No injuries to the horse or any rescuers. Thanks to OCFA Heavy Rescue Team. HB4 has dissolved Stable IC.

We have received many reports of a strong odor traveling through the city. The smell has traveled throughout many OC cities. We have made notifications to the proper authorities for follow up. At this time we do not know where the odor is originating from.

Many of you may have heard the civil defense sirens sound this evening. There is no current threat to our community and we are working to determine exactly how/why the sirens were activated.

Last night, a patient tried to rappel into the Santa Ana River bed and fell an unknown distance. HBFD USAR responded and performed a successful high angle rope rescue. The patient was treated and transported to a local area hospital.

Firefighters do more than just fight fires.... we sometimes change flat tires too! HB firefighters stumbled upon a person with a flat and helped them get back on the road!
Over the weekend both strike teams were reassigned to the Kincade Fire. In addition, we have sent 2 line paramedics to work in divisions at the fire. As always, we continue to fully staff every station in the City of Huntington Beach.

Today members of the HBFD arrived in Sacramento to pick up our new Type 1 engine replacement. The apparatus is supplied by California Office of Emergency Services to respond to mutual aid requests throughout the state.

1/2 On Monday, July 3, one of our Huntington Beach lifeguards, Elizabeth Lovat, sustained a spinal injury while performing her duties. She was transported to a local area hospital where she remains in stable but serious condition.
Today the Huntington Beach Marine Safety Division joined together with the local surf community to pay their respects to pastor and lifeguard chaplain Blaine "Sumo" Sato who passed away last month.

Full containment was made on the fire at 7:00pm and firefighters will work through the night to mop up the fire. Fire investigators will come out to investigate area of origin and cause. It is unknown at this time what caused the fire at this time.

HBFD fire and Marine Safety units are continuing to search for a reported missing swimmer at City Beach Tower 13. HBPD Helicopter HB1 is assisting from the air.
We are issuing a voluntary evacuation of all beaches in Huntington Beach City due to the threat of lighting. This evacuation will last until 1700 hours unless otherwise directed by the National Weather Service.

Firefighters did a great job saving a home across the street from the residence involved. Due to the high winds, embers were being cast across the street and caught a roof on fire. They made an immediate stop.

Today marks the 5th year since 19 brave and heroic firefighters lost their lives battling the Yarnell Hill Fire. 6/30/13. Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers.
T45 responded to a duck and her babies stuck inside a small drain pipe with running water going through it. T45 rescued the ducks without any harm. They were returned to the pond and happily swam off together. We are ready to help all citizens, including our winged friends!

Hazmat Teams responded to a minor chlorine leak @ the City Gym and Pool off Palm. The Hazmat Teams were able to mitigate the leak. One patient out of an abundance of precaution was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Tonight at 8pm, the City of Huntington Beach will enact a curfew for specific locations in the city. The curfew will include the area from Yorktown to the Pacific Ocean, and Beach Blvd to Goldenwest.

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of retired HB Fire Captain Don Cone who passed away Saturday of cancer.
Captain Cone joined the HBFD as a Firefighter in 1990, serving our community for 30 years.

This morning HBFD units responded to a single vehicle traffic accident with a person trapped inside the vehicle. Truck crews extricated the patient and paramedics transported the patient to a local trauma center.

Day 8 for our firefighters on HE45. They were first deployed to the Cranston Fire in Idyllwild but have since been redeployed to the Mendocino Complex Fire.

Just before 11:30pm HBFD responded to a fire involving 5 cars in a carport that spread to the townhome above. The fire quickly spread through the first townhome as units arrived. With three alarms and help from FVFD and OCFA, the fire was knocked down at 12:16am. No injuries.
