So, if a calorie is a calorie, why not just drink 300 ml (1.25 cups) of gasoline a day to get the 2,300 kcals the mythical 70 kg man requires a day? Oh, you mean metabolism and toxicity is important, too, not just Gross Energy? Hmmmm 🤔😏🤠

There can be NO sustainable food systems without livestock. If you haven't thought about agriculture this way, please consider this - It's the production of biomass - the majority of which is NOT edible by humans. Even food crops produce more inedible biomass. As Prof Windisch

So, if the average diabetes patient eliminated all diabetes medications they would reduce their CO2e "footprint" by 29% MORE than changing from a "high meat" to "vegan" diet. If only there were some way for diabetics to reverse diabetes w/ lifestyle & species-appropriate diet...

For the next time someone bloviates about how US diet needs to be "plant-based" - It *already* IS! 70% of calories come from plant source foods! 59% from just 3 categories (grains (23%), added plant lipids (21%), & added sugars & sweeteners (15%). Maybe THAT'S a problem... ? 🤔🤨

Diabetes is a form of carbohydrate intolerance. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate in the human diet. So, can someone explain why the American Diabetes Assoc promotes these recipes?

Food for Thought: US per capita consumption of beef & all red meat availability are at record-low levels, the the chronic ("killer") disease epidemic continues to worsen. We were told the opposite would happen (based upon no data). Time for a change in policy/advice.

You may not like grain-finished beef, but be sure you know what those steers are actually eating while being finished (~4 month period of a 2 year life otherwise on pasture/range). Here's an example. Not "just eating corn" as I hear so many folks say. Hat tip to @drsplace

Maybe we shouldn't eat foods that need to be "fortified"... ? Is what they're adding to their product as bioavailable as that naturally supplied in other foods? If you're going to eat breakfast, perhaps there's a better option than what comes out of a box.

My suggestions for changes in word usage: 1. "stable, monounstable & polyunstable" instead of "saturated, mono- & polyunsaturated" 2. "industrial oils" instead of "vegetable oils" where applicable (eg soy, corn, canola) 3. "multiple effects" instead of "side effects" Others?

In case it comes up. All *arable land* is agricultural land. Not all agricultural land is arable (cannot produce human-edible crops). Most arable land is used to produce human-edible crops. Byproducts from those crops can be fed to livestock.

Something to ruminate on. Ruminant animals produce far more human-utilizable food from the human-utilizable feed that they consume. And the food they produce is of far higher nutritional quality, too. Thanks, @DrVaughnHolder
