If Dame can somehow force his way to the Lakers, then LeBron casting him in Space Jam 2 is the single Greatest Tamper in the History of Sports, bar none.
Here are all of Alex Caruso’s plays after hitting the side of the backboard late. He could have melted, but he battled every possession on both ends. Finished with 14/3/2/3/1 on 50/66% shooting.
Dwight Howard seems to perfectly sum up the
@Lakers
vibe this year: “It’s great. All our guys are just happy, and just want to win. There’s no egos, there’s no pride. There’s nothing but pure joyful basketball.”
The brilliance of two high IQ players together: Reaves doesn’t throw it to LeBron, he throws it to where LeBron should be, and of course, LeBron understands it completely.
I think this is Alex Caruso's PATENTED move. Nobody better at defending an inbounds pass, particularly after a made basket. Good allegory for
@ACFresh21
's career: lies in wait, looking for any opportunity to turn momentum his way, then striking like a goddamn rattlesnake.
Kobe died, then the NBA and Planet stopped because of pandemic the likes of which none of us have ever seen. Then the Lakers came back to us, and won the title. Perhaps the most meaningful championship in Laker history. Don’t you ever forget it. Lakers are World Champs.
I know reading “body language” can be questionable, perhaps specious, but you can’t watch this and tell me these guys don’t love playing with each other. Completely different energy with this team. You can see it and feel it.
I want to say something about Kyle Kuzma: More than the 3-6 FG shooting and 2-5 from 3PT, he had some really nice defensive possessions tonight. He was a disaster on defense last year and worked his tail off to get here. That development cannot be understated.
Free agent guard Kendrick Nunn has agreed to a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, source tells ESPN. Deal includes a player option. Nunn turned down significantly more money to chase a title with the Lakers.
Lakers fans (myself included) thought LAL’s biggest need was shooting, and LeBron thought it was having a secondary playmaker to relieve him and push the team when he sat. First off, I believe in LeBron, and second, why the hell do any of us think we know better than LeBron?
"We work on those, depending on the shot blocker."

Truth is the Lakers stole this title with a plan B team. Kawhi did hurt them by waiting, and it didn’t matter. This year Rob’s got the juice and they’re stacked. The Champs gonna be obnoxious this year.
I believe in Kyle Kuzma. I’d also like to point out the 9th man on the 2021 Lakers has a signature shoe deal and a national ad campaign. So, come to the Lakers if you want to be a star.
Listen to me loud and clear: whoever made the decision to let Alex Caruso leave the Lakers, when he was willing to take a sweetheart deal, does not understand basketball. It was a fireable offense, it still is, and someone should be held accountable. Unforgivable error.
If you hated LeBron and the bench clowning Crowder last night I completely get it. When Bron used to do that team photo thing before games in Cleveland, I used to lose my mind. But now he plays for my team, and it’s great. My recommendation: get a LeBron James in your life.
LeBron is Prometheus. He took fire from the gods and gave it to man. As insane as it is to say, how he's changed the basketball business may rival his actual playing career.
If the Lakers get Wes Matthews to replace Danny Green to start the season, they’re getting the more well rested player because, if you remember, Milwaukee and Giannis got bounced early whereas the LA Lakers are NBA Champions.
The Kobe tragedy changed the landscape for this Lakers team. Front office, LeBron and AD are super wary of shaking things up in the family, or messing with chemistry, because it’s a sensitive time. That makes them kind. If they make a move, it needs to be a can’t miss upgrade.
Joey and Jesse Buss really did it with this one. Now Rob has him locked in at a good number, and he’ll get the Team USA development bump this Fall. Austin Reaves is a prayer answered.
Hey
@Yg_Trece
, Marc Stein reports that Kawhi tried to recruit Jimmy Butler, then tried to recruit an injured Durant, before finally calling you. I guess that makes you his third option. Well, unless he called someone else we don’t know about. Hm. Weird. Well, good luck, Paul!
One thing with Dwight and JaVale: they knew exactly what their role was, and neither complained when benched. Frank gotta define roles, LeBron has to get buy-in, and the new guys have to stay in their lanes.
The best ring night I've ever seen was 2010. Having the players introduce each other was simple brilliance. Lamar Odom's stands out as particularly personal and lovely. The Lakers understand the moment and the show.
Listen to me loud and clear: I don’t care about this at all. I only care about that banner. With LAKERS on it. Ya’ll can discuss it however you want. I just want to spend 30 bucks on the championship t-shirt.
Laker fans should be rooting for the Clippers to win. Getting a chip in a season where both the Bucks & Clippers were knocked out in the second round in the bubble is a bad look.
@damanr
that's interesting. i didnt take it to mean he doesnt care about basketball, i took it as "i dont care about all this shit." i mean, what do i know? nothing. but i think he doesnt care about western culture, and the definition of success here.
I want to say something, and it sounds silly, but it it’s not silly: I’m so proud of Alex Caruso. He’s not the token white dude, or an inside joke, or even just a fan favorite. He’s a solid, consistent rotation player in the NBA. The odds were hugely against him, but he matters.
The Bubble was too much for a lot of guys. I get it. The isolation, the fear, being forced to concentrate only on the game. Not everyone can be the 2020 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, no one can. Just the Lakers. The most important title of my lifetime for sure.
Giannis Antetokounmpo reveals he almost retired in 2020
“In 2020, I was ready to walk away from the game. I had that conversation – yes – with the front office.”

Anthony Davis is the best defender in the league. He’s not always healthy, and sometimes he can be disengaged, but there’s nobody better at defense in the league, and this is not up for debate.
If you're not old enough to have seen Michael Jordan, it's hard to explain how standard this was. And it's not the number of points. It's the ease. Put it this way: MJ was so good, Jack Nicholson went to a Clippers game.
This wasn’t in
@kylekuzma
’s defensive reel from last night, but it should be. Looked clean on first sight, but assumed I missed something. On rewatch, Kawhi isn’t fouled on his pivot, Kuz doesn’t touch Kawhi’s elbow, and Kawhi doesn’t land on Kuz after shot. Clean play. Great D.
LeBron James is, without question, the most hyped athlete I’ve ever witnessed. And he surpassed every conceivable lofty expectation of him. It is truly one of the more remarkable sports feats anyone has ever witnessed.
