1) he was the willing outlet (useful idiot) of Russian intelligence to leak illegally purloined DNC internal documents with the goal of meddling in the 2016 election. Russian cyber spies used a cutout they created (Guccifer2.0) to provide Assange the material, which he published.

Not one caller could get through their statement without some reference to the seeming eagerness of the US government to deprive them of liberty instead of aiming to protect that liberty from real threats. Something has gone horribly wrong and disinformation plays a role. 4/x

UKR is not asking for the blood of any non-Ukr. They just need weapons to defend themselves from #Russia . UKR already defied the assessments that they would lose early, but they heroically defended their land. They can continue if we help them. They'll do it anyway but costlier.

While Vance is a Republican, his justifications for pulling the plug on US support to #Ukraine don't represent a conservative perspective any more than the defeatist views of Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. represented a Dem perspective during his tenure as FDR's amb to UK in early WW2.

The French provided the Americans with money, arms, troops, even a Navy, to aid #independence . Why would they do this? Why would a monarchy (with colonies of its own) help some other colonies rid themselves of a faraway fellow monarchy? It was in their national interest to do so.

Don't get too cynical about CIA/FBI & don't believe in the "deep state". No matter what happens in November, CIA officers (and the IC) will report to work to be the nation's first line of defense. They aren't perfect and neither are their consumers. But they are the best of us.

@CIA is a national treasure: "The simple stars etched on the memorial wall at CIA’s hqs...honor the 140 agency officers who gave their lives serving their country...an enduring reminder of countless acts of courage." I got goosebumps every time I walked past the Memorial wall.
