80% of all transatlantic flights flies through our🇮🇪 airspace, 97% of all intercontinental data travels through our under water cables & we host the global giants in ICT Pharma & Biotech. Its time we accepted the cost & enormous responsibility of defending our strategic location.
In 1938 PM Neville Chamberlain (knowing war was imminent) returned the Treaty Ports (Lough Swilly, Spike Island & Berehaven) to Ireland unconditionally & ended the Anglo-Irish Trade War for £10M. The Ports were poorly maintained, difficult to defend & needed a massive investment.
In 1939 the 5 Halloran brothers from Ennistymon Co Clare🇮🇪 answered the call to arms. John, William & Michael joined the British Army🇬🇧 while Jeremiah & Martin who were then living in New York joined the US Army🇺🇸 & experienced the D-Day landings. Miraculously all 5 survived WW2.

Just passed the 2M views in July showing a lot of people want to know the TRUTH of what REALLY happened in Éire🇮🇪 during the Emergency. Our massive WW2 contribution to the Allies has been deliberately discredited & distorted, creating a stain on our reputation that has to erased.
In the classic movie, The Longest Day, Richard Todd Dublin Éire 🇮🇪, played the role of Major John Howard, commanding the attack on Pegasus Bridge. Incredibly Todd was a Captain🇬🇧 on that real life mission. His own character (Capt Todd), was played by another actor!
@roy_kinsella
OTD in 1915 at Rue du Bois the 2nd Bn RMF prepared for battle. “On a lonely dark road-side, lit up by the flashes of our own & German flares, arose to heaven the voices of 800 men singing the glorious hymn - Hail Queen of Heaven.” At dawn 393 men were lost. 19 were from Co Clare.

The concrete runways in 1943 at Rineanna Co Clare🇮🇪 (Shannon Airport). After the war they found chambers beneath them, that were packed with explosives during WW2, in case of a Nazi invasion!
When the House of Lords blocked Irish Home Rule again in Jan 1913 (against the wishes of the majority on the island), followed by partition, they lost their last opportunity to build another Australia, New Zealand or Canada on their doorstep & blew a powerful Irish🇮🇪 ally in WW2.
2.2M views for July, again showing a lot of interest into what REALLY happened in Éire🇮🇪 in WW2. Thank you for following. However our massive contribution to the Allies in WW2 has been deliberately discredited & distorted, creating a stain on our reputation that HAS to be erased.

In the film 'Zulu' (1964), Michael Caine played the role of Maj Gonville Bromhead VC (1845-91), born in Versailles to a Co Sligo🇮🇪 mother (3 Irish grandparents) & in a 'A Bridge Too Far' (1977), the role of Lt-Col Joe Vandeleur (1903-88), born in Pakistan to a Co Clare🇮🇪 family.
The spectacular Dunree Fort was built to defend Lough Swilly Co Donegal in the Napoleonic Wars. The RN remained there until 1938 when it was handed over to Éire🇮🇪 & manned by the Irish Army in WW2. It is now a fantastic military museum & the restored guns.
Just hit the 2.5M views for the past 28 days. Let the liars say what they like, we are & always have been the greatest warrior race on earth🇮🇪. Our ancestors have fought in every war & battle worth fighting in & for every country or cause worth dying for. We apologise to no one.

Churchill & Roosevelt also essentially abandoned the Roman Catholic people of Northern Ireland by supporting a bigoted regime that trampled on their rights & when the Troubles erupted it was partly a consequence of the distorted ignorance of what actually happened in Éire in WW2.
The Connaught Rangers Peninsular War Colour🇬🇧 in St Nicholas Church Galway🇮🇪 with the battles at Orthez (1814), Toulouse (1814), Badajoz (1811/12), Vitoria (1813) Nivelle (1813) Talavera (1809), Bussaco (1810), Ciudad Rodrigo (1810/12), Fuentes de Oñoro (1811) & Salamanca (1812).

When the 5 Irish-American🇮🇪🇺🇸 Sullivan brothers (L to R) Joe 24, Frank 26, Al 20, Matt 23 & George 27, all US Navy were killed on USS Juneau🇺🇸 in Nov 1942 at Guadalcanal, it was not alone the greatest WW2 loss by any US family, but the greatest US🇺🇸 family wartime sacrifice ever.

In Aug 1914 Kitchener accepted Carson's offer of an Ulster Division (26K men) in lieu of exemption for Ulster counties from Home Rule, thus ensuring partition. No one bothered to tell the 122K Irish☘️ men who later volunteered to fight in WW1 or the existing 58K Irish☘️ soldiers.
This is an amazing article that outlines a huge amount of Anglo-Irish 🇬🇧🇮🇪cooperation during WW2, including armaments, wireless equipment, radar systems, transmitters, anti-aircraft defences, Coastal Patrols, Hurricanes, postal censorship & Fort Shannon.
From 1939 the Irish Coastal Sqdn patrolled the Irish sea-board & whenever they spotted marauding & meteorological Focke-Wulf Condors Rineanna would broadcast their course & RAF aircraft would soon be observed in hot pursuit. They were replaced in 1943 by a Hurricane fighter Sqdn.
When Kitchener🇬🇧 agreed to exemption for Ulster Counties from Irish Home Rule☘️ (essentially Partition) in lieu of an Ulster Div in WW1, he destroyed the best war machine the British ever had (1M+ ☘️men in 34 Wars🇬🇧 1801-1918) & blew a powerful Irish☘️ Army for the Allies in WW2.

Then Churchill & Roosevelt deliberately discredited de Valera by distorting the true benevolence of Irish neutrality, in order to undermine the influence of the Irish-American lobby (who they despised) & their ability to make Irish Partition, a post war international issue.
Karen Devine (DCU) states that de Valera🇮🇪 did not visit the German Legation, or sign a book of condolences on Hitler’s death but offered Hempel & his family asylum in Éire🇮🇪. This he accepted until 1949, then joined the West German Foreign Service🇩🇪 from 1950-51 & died in 1972.

When WW2 started, de Valera promised every support short of war, giving the British 7 oil tankers (150M long) for free, allowing them base a plane at Foynes to check the coast & confirm no u-boats present, air/sea rescue boats in Cobh & Killybegs & access to coast watch reports.
Gen Edward Bulfin (1862-1939) Rathfarnham Co Dublin🇮🇪, excelled in 1st Battle of Ypres when he slowed down the German assault & led the XXI Corps in Sinai & Palestine. In 1920 he refused the offer of Chief of Police & Secret Intelligence🇬🇧 in Ireland, as he was an Irish Catholic.

The ‘American Note’ Feb 1944 was a dark period in Irish military history. The Americans were livid that de Valera refused to expel the German legation in Dublin, unaware that the false information they were receiving was from MI5 & Dev knew expulsion would compromise UK security.
Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847) was elected MP for Co Clare🇮🇪 in 1828, but could not take his seat as he was a Catholic. The whole country went mad! After Catholic Emancipation in 1829 & re-election 1830, he became the 1st Catholic in modern history to sit in the House of Commons🇬🇧.
The British Chiefs of Staff agreed with the return of the Irish Ports unconditionally in 1938 & stopped Churchill in 1943 from requesting their use as they concluded they would only be a liability. Hubert Gough also noted that 160K soldiers gave an Irish address for next-of-kin.

Just so that everyone understands how vital ‘Neutrality’ was for Éire🇮🇪 in WW2, after France fell in 6 weeks & Dunkirk, unlike the British we had no Radar, RAF, RN, AA guns, searchlights or balloons to defend us from a Nazi onslaught. Every city & port would have been pulverised.
In return Chamberlain placated the powerful Irish-American lobby, which allowed Britain appeal for US help when WW2 started, allowed Irish beef exports to Britain recommence (from 0 tons 1938 to 16K tons 1941) & saved on the huge investment needed for the Ports & Army/RAF bases.

For some reason a soccer match between Ireland🇮🇪 & Germany in 1936 implies the Irish🇮🇪 were pro-Nazi, while England’s🏴 players performed the Nazi salute before their 1938 match in Berlin! Ignorance is bliss. For what REALLY happened in Ireland🇮🇪 in WW2 see below.
@neilojim1972
All US air crews that came down in Ireland were repatriated, 225 other Allied airmen were let go & 46 were interned for a time. All German flying crew & sailors were interned for the war while Allied seamen were released. Crashed planes were loaded on trucks & sent to the border.
