Above all, they are the ability to be aware of and run your mental processes instead of being run by them.

There is a long list of reasons why people formed cities.
They have all been made obsolete.
The raisons d’être for large urban centers are gone.
Our beloved Dr. George Silverman passed away on May 10th, 2023.
His Twitter community brought him so much joy. Thank you so much.
George was passionate about sharing his knowledge to help all of you. As he intended, his account will continue to auto re-tweet his favorite

seems to have been treated pretty badly there. She is a person of famously high integrity, so I believe her and I will not be alone. Unless you can produce video from your security cameras, you owe her an apology and payment for all the trouble she went through.
I'm 80 years old.
I’ve been thinking for a long time about how to live the best life. I’d like to share a few things that have made my life successful and happy.
While I hope to live another 15 years or so, I’m acutely aware that I could leave the planet tomorrow. 🧵👇

Wow. Kurt has written an amazing article that lays out the realities about sending in troops that few of us know. He is an expert, having been a Nat'l Guard commander.
Highly recommended.
Thank you Kurt.
Today, I will be celebrating my wife, Marla, on her 80th birthday.
(So, I'll be off Twitter today and not answering DMs. I'll pre-schedule some tweets)
I love her more now that I did 58 years ago when we were married. I hope you all realize that epic marriages are possible.

5 signs that you're an independent thinker:
1. You don't ask people for permission
2. You don't need validation from other people
3. You constantly put yourself in uncomfortable situations
4. You make your own decisions
5. You take in data from others, but think for yourself.
Stay away from people who want to argue or debate rather than exchange ideas and explore.
Why? Argument & debate are defending positions.
Exploration and exchange of ideas are getting to the truth.

What's driving this hostility? It seems to stem from something deeper than mere jealousy. 🤔
When you come across a helpful tweet — from me or anyone else — take a moment to comment on it, even if it's one word, like Yes, No or Maybe. A meaningful addition is even better.
Your comment gets the algorithm to spread it further than a Like or Retweet.
You are getting exactly the results that your present system is designed to produce.
Want to change the results? Change the system, or enhance the performance.
When you ask, "Why?" people often feel you are calling them out. They get defensive and rationalize.
"Tell me about …" or "how come?" usually gets a better quality answer.
What's the difference between a polymath and a generalist?
A POLYMATH is a person who has expertise and deep knowledge in multiple fields.
A GENERALIST has a broad range of knowledge in multiple fields but not necessarily deep expertise.
Polymaths are admired for their

Reframe your "failures" into learning experiences.
I found I could figure things out better than those "facts collectors" by focusing on skills more than content. I soon noticed that I learned more from my hobbies than my schooling because hobbies taught me more mental TECHNIQUES, which I later named MindSkills.

My Story:
As a child, I noticed that most smart people in the world wasted their time memorizing facts instead of learning skills. They never got enough knowledge even though they were drowning in it.
This is the first time in human history that we can learn anything we want, almost anywhere we want to learn it, from the best teachers on Earth.
You are a kid in a candy store. What's next?
Do not engage with toxic people.
Walk away, even if it makes them look like they won.
If you can't walk away, don't take the bait, or you will get hooked.
Remain detached and remind yourself that it's about them, not you.
You can't think deeply without writing.
The brain can't hold more than a handful of ideas simultaneously.
You need to be able to stand back, look at the overview, and come back to it later.
Make notes.
Write. It. Down.
I just got over 1000 followers today, and 40,000 in total, and the day is still young.
I want to express my appreciation to everyone who has followed me and encouraged me.
I hope to continue to live up to your high expectations.
In the Third Grade, I asked, "Why do we call the Greek and Roman gods 'mythology' but we call our gods 'religion'?"
The teacher got upset, yelled "Blasphemy, using his name in vain …" and sent me to the Principal, who explained what was going on.
That day I became an atheist.
We have to teach our kids how to think.
Not how to memorize facts or perform obscure mathematical and linguistic operations.
Teach them to follow their curiosity, set goals, solve real problems, make decisions, and implement their plans. And how to manage their emotions.

It’s starting. When people get to look into the schools, they are going to be horrified.
I know. I was a school psychologist who’s job it was to observe teachers. Horrifying.
Don't play to not lose.
Don't even play to win.
Play to learn.
Play for the fun of it.
Play to see how it turns out.
Just play. That's where the improvement happens.
As every kid knows, and most adults forget.

Sure, can you get socialization in government schools: bullying, peer pressure, groupthink, ostracism, the mean girls and boys and, above all, mind crushing boredom.
with individual attention, kids can learn more in one hour than they can in three hours of schooling.
