#newPI I had a meeting with my real estate agent and it looks like I won't be able to buy a house, but at least I got a piece of chocolate cake! Yes, I am a professor and I spend 70% of my salary on renting a place for my family. It's sad, but that's my reality. 🙃🙂🥲

Methane-producing microbes from the Domain #Archaea (methanogens) are very diverse! They all produce #methane through #methanogenesis , but something that happens in one species does not necessarily happen in another. That's why we should do more basic research!

#NewPI Methane-producing #archaea are very sensitive to #oxygen . But, Methanosarcina acetivorans has the ability to detoxify #oxygen ! How? Using cytochrome oxidases and co-consuming lactate & acetate to produce #methane & #biomass . Details coming soon!

"Unexpected results of a simple curiosity". Methane-producing #archaea are very sensitive to #oxygen . However, Methanosarcina acetivorans detoxifies oxygen using #cytochrome oxidases and consuming lactate & acetate to produce #methane & #biomass . Link:
