That right wing FGC boomer thing is pretty real.
It’s a lot of old dudes who used to throw around slurs and talk crazy about women then when people stopped tolerating it, they started saying “the scene is soft now” and complaining about cancel culture instead of chilling out.
The excuse of "I work full time" isn't valid anymore. 90% of the FGC has a day job and they still MAKE time to support their locals and go to tournaments to get good. If you're serious/really enjoy something, MAKE the time for it.
Nah, how the fuck does the FGC always say "no nerfs, only buffs" then complain when some dog shit characters actually get buffed and you have to deal with it?
Mike Z makes racist joke: We can't do anything about it because he's a developer. Just forgive him and let it go.
Mike Z confirmed creep: Get him the fuck out of here.
Yeah, the KOF community definitely needs to prop up its content creators more.
The amount of people who have incredibly misinformed opinions about the series is insane. They usually get all their opinions from some Capcom guy trying XIII trials then saying "KOF is hard".
I actually got into KOF competitively because it had the easiest combo structure of any fighting game to me.
"Normal > command normal > special" makes a lot more sense to me than having to learn completely different combos off every button like SF4/5 with links or anime games.
Uhh...why not support ALL KOF content, instead?
Twitter FGC likes drawing fake lines in the sand for no reason. There is no line.
If people from other scenes make KOF content, support it.
If people from the KOF scene make content, support it.
More people playing KOF is good.
I remember when y'all yelled at me for wanting the KOF scene to support KOF content creators instead of top players from other games "giving us exposure".
We're starting to get a lot of grassroots KOF content now, and its beautiful to see. Please support it.
I hate how it feels like every time I wanna talk about KOF XV it turns into some sort of balance discussion. I can't even say a characters name without a mf bringing up their spot on the tier list. Just play the game like wtf.
Man I had to block a FGC dude the other day for saying "black people are the new white people".
What the fuck does that even mean? Why would you say that? Lol
Melty Blood Type Lumina promotion-wise is doing literally everything that I wish SNK and KOF 15 would do.
I didn't think I'd find myself more excited for that game and I didn't even really like old Melty lol.
Why do randos always tell me KOF has a lot 1f links? A majority of combos in that game are chains or cancels of some kind. All the juggles are bufferable too. I got into KOF because I hated doing links tbh.
Like this is one of those KOF misconception things that needs to go.
If you're interested in KOF 15 and don't know who the fuck to play, let me know what kind of characters you like and I'll recommend some for you.
I promise I won't give Iori for every answer.

Finally.
I've been seeing a lot of people interested in Isla lately, but most resources out there haven't been updated in a long time. I decided to share what I know, hope it helps.
I personally don't think KOF is remarkably harder than any other FG I've competed in, it's just different. Too many people try to play it exactly like SF/CvS2, which doesn't really work.
KOF 15 made me realize how little I ever actually cared about most fighting games competitively.
I have such a hard time getting into other games anymore because KOF scratches all of my itches and I can actually PLAY IT now. Yall do not understand lol.
Its always funny internet antics with these people until it becomes about something that matters.
Reminds me of Harada and his "don't ask me for shit" which was cute and funny until it became about wanting the game to have better balance and netcode.
Hideki Kamiya is now blocking people that are questioning why PlatinumGames decided to disrespect the value and of Hellena Taylor's voice actor work as Bayonetta.
His "funny antics" is now turning into pure deflection and cowardice from him.
1) Pick a KOF game. If you're getting ready for 15, 14 is the closest. If netcode is a concern, 02UM or any title on Fightcade.
2) Check out tutorial content online. There's the classic Dandy J video, Laban's Rule of 3, and newer content by GillStoleMyRide or Juicebox.
The responses to this tweet are the reason why I don't shill KOF anymore. People who never played the games make up stupid reasons to not play instead of saying "it doesn't interest me" and keep it moving.
It's always weird to me to see someone liking Fighting Games but not liking KOF.
I mean, we started with SF2, and the genre didn't stop to evolve, and KOF formula is one of the best outcomes of the entire genre.
It has everything you could expect from a good Fighting Game.
You guys almost lost me today
Idk who actually cares about me but I'm trying really hard to improve my mental health
Even if we "don't talk much" you don't understand how much I actually love you. I just can't express it. I want to know how to while learning to love myself too.
Oh yeah, I had a guy in the FGC harass and stalk me. I came out about it and nothing really happened. Nobody said or did anything, and it took years for him to actually stop.
If I just like, beat him up or something I probably would've been the bad guy.
Got 7th.
Annoyed but I should appreciate that I outlasted so many other good players. I couldn't even crack top 8 in 14 at previous FFs and somehow I did here.
I appreciate all the support. I legit couldn't have done it without people in my corner.
More power to yall trying to debunk a lot of the KOF misinfo out there, I gave up on that like a year ago lol.
I love the series to death and it'd be dope if more people got into it but there are a lot out there who are just gonna make every excuse to not play it.
The guy will watch 98 and not even know characters names but make random remarks about how high level KOF is easy compared to SF and the chat eats it up.
Like dawg, what? Meanwhile I can't even mention anything negative about SF5 on without both locals and randoms coming at me.
KOF actually has the best offline scene of any game I've ever competed in. There's rarely drama, people are hella supportive of each other, and there's Modelo.
I've been thinking about it because I'm watching a lot of random FGC content lately.
No names but theres a SF guy I've been watching who streams his reactions to KOF matches despite not knowing much. The chat taking so much stock in his offhand remarks about KOF is wild.
Well I'm out. 17th/622 or whatever. Lost to Marco in winners and Chris G in losers.
Joking aside, I'm happy about how well I did. I don't feel bad at all, just needed slightly better clutch decision making. The sets I lost weren't blowups and all my wins were 2-0s lol.
Idk why I never thought of trying to convert CH jCD into 214KK~A. I figured it'd be hard or wouldn't be consistent but nah, you just have to wait slightly.
I think this is the highest damage practical combo she has then, though a bit screen position dependent.
#KOFXV_Isla
For real though, a really good way KOF could get more people is if the game actually taught you how to play it.
Like "no shit" but for real. The community does bust their ass to make guides and compile information, but people aren't always gonna find it.
I shouldn't have to explain because people angrily reacting to this are telling on themselves, but w/e
If I go to locals, I want nothing to do with people who hate minorities, women, LGBTQ+, etc. I don't care about how well they press buttons, I do not want that energy around me
The oversimplified advice in GG is nothing new. You don't know how many times I got clapped in Xrd from folks giving me that kind of advice.
"Yeah bro, just do 5H against Slayer there's nothing he can do. MU is 9-1"
*presses 5H in neutral*
*Counter-hit Pilebunker into 80%*
After getting threatened twice by FGC chuds in less than 30 days, I'm going to make myself very clear:
If you are anti-black, anti-woman, anti-LGBTQIA+, or promote any kind of hatred, I am not associating with you. I'm going to fucking clown you. Your threats do not scare me.
Most discussions about KOF XV turning into bitching about the top tiers is so old when the problem is that they should just buff movement so the game isn't all about having phat ass buttons you can't approach and can convert into EX launcher off of.
I won KOF at this months Tension X Shift
My confidence has been fucking shot the past month. I love the game but all the negativity started getting to me on top of a depressing tournament loss.
This kinda means a lot rn. Gotta keep getting better tho. Sticking with the day 1s.
Ok, been home for a bit.
Just wanted to thank everybody who supported me this weekend. I almost didn't make it for uhh... a few reasons.
You don't know how much the kindness means to me. I wish every day was like that for me.
I hope I don't see "non-kof players, why don't you play kof?" Because I'm not ready for all "lul pretzel motions" or "game doesn't have (obscure kof character only in 1 or 2 games)"
Also, they apparently manipulated the FC2 KOF 98 savestate on purpose to have all of the high tier/popular characters people play have angry emotions
If anybody wants to play on RedGGPO or something, I'm down.
Probably gonna offend some people, don't really care. But man I am actually sick of a lot of the attitudes people locally have about competing.
Everybody's more concerned about being a special snowflake with their unique characters and playstyles than actually winning.
Look at Kula actually doing DAMAGE. I'm so happy, dude. Her notes didn't seem amazing on paper but man she can do so much now.
She still has a few weird scaling issues but I can ignore them, just don't do 6A and cancel 623A into super during long combos.
KOF community smart enough to realize that doing long sets instead of brainlessly hopping on ranked is better for long term growth.
Watch me get shot for saying that.
I won SamSho and Granblue this week at High RISC. Got 2nd in UNIST.
I leave high stress job and immediately start doing better at fightmans. Go figure.
